The Devil's Split Couplets
Devils
Pale demonic devils
Satan
The earth he is hating
People
Destruction to steeples
Desire
To cast them in the fire
Earth
A realm under the dirt
Is hell
All the devils of hell...

Mountains
Gray misty mountains
Cold light drifting
Frost sharpening the air
Twilight steeples
Piercing the sky
White laces the land
Hearth’s smoke drifts like ghosts
Ice crystals dance
Winter icy fingers grasp...

Magic
Magic twirling in the air
in forms of song, of magic, of love
to compare

Song of a people
Lifting the magic in their hearts
to tops of steeples

velvet strands
of thin blue light magic
over the lands

Bring us to life
Shake us to sing ourselves
over the land
...

EVEREST

pinnacle of insanity
only halfway home
so cold
nerves numb
not a vacation spot
near heaven, but not!

deadmen tucked
into beds of ice and crevices
brain swell while they sleepwalk

zombies rise ever higher
certain to hear trumpets of angels
even the guides are thrown down

steeples are strenuous climbs

Of a Balloon
Who knows
if it’s the moon
who fills the sky
just get inside
and away we’ll fly
over houses, clouds
and steeples high
We’ll go sailing
should you take me
tonight
in your pretty balloon
by the silvery light
and not too soon
over cities where
the flowers bloom
and yes it’s there
from far above
we become the Spring
and welcome love

.

Cable
I swear I'm stable. The rope is my agony.
I'll just walk this cable as my feet start to bleed.
This isn't fable. The end is not destiny.
I'll just fall off this cable for nothing is left of me.

I stand in the middle and stare at the ground.
We'll meet rather quickly, I dare to say.
Well I could fall around steeples without a sound.
I'm forgotten as my memories fade....

CHRISTMAS EVE

riding the wind
a thousand christmas bells
swirl city corners
custom country steeples
ring round my splintery old pew

in a ponderous quiet
on this hallowed eve
i’m forgetting the dreary
remembering those hundred candles
mother singing oh holy night

christmas eve
no snow
torrents of rain
santa comes round
in a pontoon plane

Lights flickered as evening woke
     the tired lagoon
where wrinkled reflections
and silhouettes of a million
      spruce steeples
tickled the horizon.

A chorus of slapping halyards
joined a colony of gulls
in their repertoire
above the docked fisherman.

Trees, painted half-white
by windward squalls
faded off like a black curtain
to await an encore at dawn......

Logy
Desert air so sweet, so dear
Standing in the radiance of the sand
Glistening in the sun

Traveling through barren lands
Visiting forgotten people
Transfixed in turquoise stain-glass steeples
Venturing in the arms of desert creatures

Sun drenched in desert wonder
With skin the color copper
Following the footsteps of my people
I stop to listen to the crowing of the dawn....

The Gazelle
The Gazelle!!!

The morning cock crows
And the feeling grows
Towards the daedal damsel
With the gaze of a gazelle

She is an enigma
A portrait with dimples
The opera of the steeples
And with an accolade for charisma

In the center of my fantasy
She gives me a frenzied insomnia
The feeling of euphoria
And the smooth warmth of ecstasy

Premium Member What If
Imagine if Putin gave thanks
rather than sending tanks

What if he helped Ukraine's people
rather than crushing their buildings and steeples

What if he took the high road
versus death and destruction for gold

Then we would have world peace
and all would be at ease

Young Dreams
Woven through the fabric of forever Sits a kingdom shrouded in the mist A castle built with youths imagination It's spires and steeples were once heaven kissed Today the once proud land has been abandoned Still, around the corner there may wait Young dreamers who will rebuild all the fences A new road, or a secret gate

Little Red Trolley
In the heat and rain , upon tracks rusted and bare
A little red trolley sits, remembering former days
Of horse drawn carriages, filled with new marriages
Of clanging bells and merry people,
Doing chores,or walking into stores
Rolling hills and long tall steeples
Weathered stones in grass covered cemeteries
Busy times filled with haunted memories
Rising from the haze of long forgotten days...

Premium Member Halloween Fun
darling dimpled dervishes
dancing delightfully
ghouls goblins gargoyles
gabbing, grabbing, ghosting,
witches wearing weaves,
wistfully watching watchers
dust of night brings Halloween
Outstanding orange ovarian owls
studiously studying steeples,
betting bulbous bats below
will wind-fly down, betwixt and between.
jealously juicing, joyously jeering
Dubiously doubting daring dust of the night....

Premium Member Divine Blanket
As if a blanket be specially placed
Upon the land so humbly graced.
A white so pure, so fresh, sublime,
A blessing, surely divine.

Steeples covered, as Christmas card,
Litter the landscape of England proud,
Tools down, the children play,
Simple pleasures embrace the day.

Sunshine glistens on twinkling ground,
Mesmerising magic all around,
This beauty which fulfils the soul
Is exquisitely a fresh snow fall....

Shadow Dance
As morning light glistened on the trees
I walked quietly, stepping into the woodlands freed
brittle leaves crunched beneath my feet and knees
and bird song chattered on the breeze,
lost to time and city strife
I found a calm beyond this busy life
in the forest old and primeval
stretching to the heavens like church steeples
rays of sunlight twinkled through each branch
and I hummed embracing the shadow dance....

Attack Amen
The steeples tower over our flags
Dissent is not allowed here
How dare you not say the pledge!
Shots ring out in the crowded halls
Our children fall; victims of the sickness
We awaken from fractured dreams of something resembling freedom
Our electronic opinions hang like public laundry on a line
Eyeless sheep file out of the pews and into the voting booths
And the gods recklessly direct baseless wars against ourselves...

Flames of Bonds
As the flames a blazed and the torches illuminated the crying shouts of the night
Like steeples of lonely souls on shattered islands yearning for lifeboats
Like reddish cherry drowned in a sea of blood entwining sweetness with sourly fluid
Like a naked smile in a funeral of the dead hiding sadness behind a lying face searching for strength
New bonds created amidst of war like glistening stars in the dying space.

~ Night's snowflakes fall lightly ~

   Night's snowflakes fall lightly
      without a sound
   Melt on my walkway
      No one's around

No one awed by their beauty
None thrilled by their tingle --
   Fresh ice on eager tongues
      or newly white shingles

   on sleepy houses with chimneys
      curling smoke from logs' fires...
  Crosses glisten high atop steeples
      Winter's deep silence inspires...

Our World Dies
Our world dies when Politicians don't heed the
cries of its constituents,

Their decisons to favor affluence over the plight
of the people, questions their belief in God, and
Houses of worship adorned with steeples,

Our world dies when crime is allowed to
go on incessantly,

When pleasantries and decorum have been left by the
wayside, our world dies,

It become lifeless unable to resuscitate,
Our World dies.....If no one does nothing,
It will be too late....

Premium Member Dust and Snow
It’s beautiful only at its best
Not a cold pillow to take rest

The snow tucked into crevice pits
Steep steeples where one can’t sit

Aerial view indeed makes one awe
To linger and trepidatiously pause

For to hike in circles, like an eagle flies
But on endless travail, by foot, not wise

Volcano full of dust and snow
Might finger you as part of its show

It’s beautiful at its best—
Volcano full of dust and snow
