Bells years past- from steeples Revealed the times with gongs Mute through wars Loud for victory Soft to celebrate hearts joined in marriage Slow to honor loved ones in death Bells cheered Bells mourned

I do love bells, Sandra. I can almost hear them ring in this poem. Bells used to ring on Sunday mornings and for weddings and funerals, but they are silent now, victims to those who didn't like the noise and got the City to stop them.
