Scurrying sandalless soldier's
Soles slowly scarred,
Slipping somewhere,
Scattered stone shards,
Shattering soft skull.

Autumn
crunches under foot
blowing wind emerges

Scurrying about
From dark corner to corner
In shadows it hides
Seeking its breakfast
Finding crumbs along its way
It survives again
Scurrying people
windy city wind whistling
Wet animals flee
Blue thunder, silver slick streets
Hued blooms close their perfumed rooms.
Winding white wind whips
Colorful fall leaves
Like rainbow that drips
Undressing tall trees
Gives brown skirt a lift
Grey squirrel scurrying
chipmunks scurrying across the park
dog wants to let loose and play

WHEN THE CAT’S AWAY
The murine stars
Hide timorously as the cat’s yellow eye
Appears early each morning
Trying to catch those tiny
Scurrying distant dwarfs
But they stay hidden until the cat
Settles down to sleep again
Early morning, sky true blue, full moon above, peaceful
All quite quiet, beautiful like a piece of fine, clear crystal
Oblivious to the commotion soon to be set in motion
The silence is broken with each scurrying to find life's direction

The little wren hen is in a fitful mood
From scurrying all day in search of food.
The journey is dangerous in a world so rude
Yet she dares provide for her waiting brood.
