Just Add Water

A happy childhood hour spent
Peering into
A few scant inches of rainwater
On hot days
Should come as no surprise.
For life,
Simply add water.

Micronomics

There’s value bean counters can’t grant
Supplant not old models they chant!
They rant that life forms’
Cells must fit spreadsheet norms
As accountants’ brains are quite scant

Realized Trump Went On Rant

Realized Trump Went On Rant

Realized when Trump went on a rant,
Because again was told that he can't,
Start a storm,
Even if warm;
Measured mind and only saw a scant.

A Dearth of Poetry

    Lately, it seems to be
      there’s a dearth of poetry
on the site... else it's me

    generalizing from scant experience
as I often do when feeling imperious

ICE KISS

Blizzard dawn crisp
Send shivers with the postman
Shovel toss snow
Dance whiteness over shoulders wrapped in wool
Sweet overburdened shoulders where comfort found me scant moments past

Short Poem On Living

I always try living each day in the moment, spending scant time on what might lie ahead. The future is uncertain, and only God knows, so I review tidbits sleeping in my past instead.

Iniquus

As the poor souls of Burundi toil.
For a scant thirty-five cents each hour.
Their lives are in churning turmoil.
With an outlook bleak and dour.
Yet, the wealthy reap golden spoils.
To gild more Ivory Towers.

Essence

Blood and bone—?
Am I merely a man??
Possessor of what you might deem
A soul?
Little to my name,?
Tagged as valueless—?
Yet in this scant existence,?
I find a singular truth:
I am yours.
And in that, I am complete.

Tornado's Wake

tornado's wake

our naked trees, with missing limbs, stand tall
	awaiting scant leaves this year;
birds lost old nesting sites.

Hidden Shapes

Listen to poem:
Hidden Shapes
David J Walker

Hidden shapes assured of shadows
Haunting
lingering
From a shared past

A scant vision
of tomorrow

A bitter tankard of
borrowed sorrow

Where do I begin
to repair to my

One Day At A Time

Comes a time in each life when passed time rouses our thoughts. Then,, we give scant thought to the future. Age has left us with no aspirations. And we’ve accepted the fact that our future, is the present day.

Once a scandal-ridden Monarchy
Took to breeding with Tom Dick & Harry

Thus Millésime House lost lineage Tree.

Something Profound We Plant

Something Profound We Plant

Sometimes things do seem so scant,
And if something profound we plant;
Poem prepare;
With you share;
With eloquence will always enchant.

Let It Rain

Clouds,
spitting
rain tease the
drought-stricken land
with hope of more to
come, but stingy clouds cling
jealously to their precious
droplets only releasing scant
sprinkles from time to time. O God please
open up the heavens and let it pour!

Winter Wails

searching for scant food
wolves foxes hares and bears roam ---
snow owls taunt hungry harp seals

dig icebergs and peep within
ice fish swiftly hides in holes

Shrill Echoes

As early frost kissed window glass

And autumn shed her scant remains,

Her glory done, her time now past

Bare trees lined the country lanes,

The woods were quiet, nothing stirred

Filled it seemed with expectation,

The shrill echo of a bird

Lamented autumn's resignation.

Mixed Drink

Blackstrap molasses I drink every day.
I've learned it holds anemia at bay.
One tablespoon quick stirred up
with almond milk (a scant cup)
makes my red blood cells cheer. Hip hip hooray!

Moiety

Cultures of the world fill our senses
recognized by different contributions
Brave spirits preserving what is left
from bulging cities to scant villages
Living in every corner of this sphere
separated by individual circumstances
There is no way to rely on each other
if not dividing everything more equal
