ghosts of yesterday
   promenade across my screen,
       tapping in the dark...

Terror
TERROR

Traumatic injuries to the mind and body
Entering a sphere of darkness
Reruns play over and over
Re-setting the many moments
Of one’s reality
Recanting what was once said...

Mork and Mindy could never dream
Of Covid 19 reruns and streaming
Mindy would embrace being a muse
While Mork would say “Nanu Nanu”.

In My Mind's Eye

In My Mind’s Eye

My mind stands behind a vast reflecting mirror
I see such beauty from unimaginable images
Presented within forever by her wondrous reruns
Through infinite gateways!...

I Wish I Could
I wish i could redo what i had done
i hate thinking back, like i'm watching reruns
The choices i've made just seem so wrong!
i only thought short while the road stayed long
given the chance to go back, i would
one thing that i wish i could...

Reruns
Though the credits are long past being done
We refuse to let our story end
The writers have become erratic
The plot a three time rerun
I read a scene that I have played
It’s now your part
I sit silently and watch
Your character has not rehearsed
You are broken and bloody
Simultaneously reaching out for help
While lunging for the kill...

I'm crying in my beer for good reason

Super Bowl's the last game of the season

No more tater chips and beer

What am I to do all year

Except watch reruns of Jackie Gleason

Premium Member Where Did Life Slip Away To
I used to be so cool
I used to drink all night
and i had an eye for playing pool
I was always looking for Mr. Right

I used to be so free
and i danced till i was dead
Now I'm old sitting here eating brie
with a stack of reader's digest read

Watching reruns of mash
eating sugar-free ice cream
scratching lotto tickets for cash
and living with a dream...

Premium Member My Last Day of Vacation
It is my last day of vacation.
I have done what I wanted to do and more.
I would have gone to school today but it is a Sunday
so no one would have been there to let me in.

I sit here, watching MASH reruns from the 80’s,
because I have done enough painting.
I have done more than enough eating.
I know now that having all day to do whatever I want
is not for me....

Couch Blues (John Popper Rules!)
I was sitting on the couch with my cousin yesterday
watching old reruns of wonder-woman
eating funyans
and shootin' the breeze.

I said to him
"yo cuz, did you know that tv causes brain cancer?"

He didn't respond.

a couple of minutes later, when I lit a cigarette, he asked me
"Do you suppose Wonder Woman's boobs are real?"

"Nah,"I said."those are just pixels."...

Premium Member There Are Travelers
In the small hours of the night,
the moon was bright and ready.
Something was waiting to be born—
a vision
or more than a vision—
hope wearing sunglasses.

There are travelers
and then there are travelers
who return.
Some stay behind the moon--
no sunglasses.

And me,
I just sit here waiting
for the next episode,
wanting nothing special,
no commercials to mute,
no reruns to ignore....

Harden Street, 1958 (Part Four)
con't

The damn memories
are still so clear.

And now I am alone,
the only one left
because my brother
sliced his neck
in what has become
a family tradition,
that is, to leave
of your own volition.

If I could only get
the reruns to quit
maybe my goddamned
head wouldn't split

and I wouldn't feel so

fragmented

broken into a million
disassociated pieces
in a fugue
until it ceases....

Farewell To the Pineapple Princess
As an original Mousketeer, you garnered some fame. A generation of youngsters knew you by name. From a little girl, you grew on television and the movies. Success seemed to come in blowing like the breeze. In a bikini with a surfboard on the beach, you were such an attractive brunette peach. Even though time caught up to you, and you passed away, we can still see you in reruns up to this day. Annette Funicello (1942-2013)

Lost All Alone
Lost all alone.
Waiting patiently for companionship.
Reruns of the old.
Savage cruelties unleashed.
Unable to share this.
An undesirable partner.
Giving with nothing recieved.
Demanding any explanation.
Stripped of all dignity.
Left naked and weak.
Deserving of much.
Accredited none.
No experience fair.
Doesn't matter to any.
Unrelenting heartbreak.
Administered by most.
Cared by none.
Forgiveness unaccepted.
Lost all alone....

Silent Movies
I could put Charlie Chaplin to shame,
With the silent movies playing in my head
Like black and white reruns of all the times
You made my heart race, made the butterflies flutter
In these movies you never let me go.
No kiss was ever the last kiss
Your arms, my fortress where I am safe and loved
Who knew our love story would turn in to a nightmare
Shredded and shattered you still own all the pieces
Of the heart that beat just for you....

Gene Barry
You died less than one year ago.
People loved to watch your shows.
It was very tragic when you died last year.
Your death made your fans burst into tears.
You starred in Burke's Law twice.
You were talented and that was nice.
You did a great job as Bat Masterson.
I truly enjoy watching those reruns.
Millions of your fans loved to see you act.
Sadly you're gone and you won't come back.

Goodbye Gleason
(Dedicated to Jackie Gleason who died June 24, 1987.)

I liked watching you in Honeymooners reruns.
I also enjoyed watching you in Smoky and the bandit with your stupid son.
Millions of people loved to see you act.
You were one hell of a guy and that's a fact.
In 1987 people learned that you were dying and it made us sad.
When you died, it made us mad.
You succeeded at the things you endeavored.
Because of reruns, you'll be remembered forever....

David Jones
Millions would tune in on the tube Monday night. To countless sixties teenyboppers, you were a delight. With Mickey, Mike, and Peter, you were in funny situations. We still watch you in reruns after a couple of generations. Not only did you have a fine voice for singing, many considered you very versatile for acting. What a fine career you had is what many will say. We will miss you now that you have gone away. David Jones 1945-2012

Charcoal warmed the yard as we poured lemonade...a bonfire humming our song; Grandpa and I would roast mallows till my cheeks flushed, old tales in reruns. And laughter spilled to drink the night relishing childhood joys ever enshrined, with his hands once gentle and young... Today, Grandpa weaves silent gazes on a rocking chair... his eyes feeling mine. A Response To Contest : Silent One 10/24/2016 ......................

Chief Wild Eagle
Crazy Cat, I will say you are all wet. You are not the chief of this tribe yet. That position is still reserved for me. I am the one who leads our people called “Hekawi”. You know that cavalry troop led by Sergeant O’Rourke and Corporal Agarn. They are all lousy shots. They couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Even though the network cancelled our show, in widely-displayed reruns, we still go to and fro. Based on the sixties sitcom “F Troop”

Premium Member An Evening With Acquaintances
the dust has finally settled
hearts now sigh in relief
the guests have left at last
nobody’s turned a new leaf

the conversation was lively
mischief pervaded the air
without meaningful content
executed with aplomb and flair

life role by us thus enacted
dynamic stillness in motion
within the mundane atmosphere
yet savours soma nectar potion

our heart’s secret goes unnoticed
even by near and dear ones
as we remain vibrant throughout
innumerable suchlike reruns...

My grandmother renames her dog on an hourly basis.
On Wednesday he was Sharpshooter when we went to the races.
Thursday night she was calling him “Didhebiteyou?”
I listened to her call for him with this until she was blue.

He never came, for he is as ornery as any dog has a right to be.
Plus he was watching Lassie reruns, his favorite black and white TV.
Today he is Evil Kenievel King, and it seems to suit him fine.
Anyway, it doesn’t make him growl and it does not make him whine....
