Charcoal warmed the yard as we poured
lemonade...a bonfire humming our song;
Grandpa and I would roast mallows
till my cheeks flushed, old tales in reruns.
And laughter spilled to drink the night
relishing childhood joys ever enshrined,
with his hands once gentle and young...
Today, Grandpa weaves silent gazes
on a rocking chair... his eyes feeling mine.
