Distant sometimes a full moon, a half moon, 
A quarter moon, a crescent moon,
The clouds drift by,
Nature's lonely parade.

There is no space between the 
horizon and the ocean
Birds follow boats in a lazy 
circular motion 
It is a lazy hazy Saturday 
afternoon
Topped by a peeping 
premature quarter moon  

Idle fishermen sit and curse 
their fate
The striper run is getting 
precariously late
Boats chug back and forth in 
search of signs
Willing fish to hook up with 
trawling lines...

I stepped through the
early morning door into a liquid-laden Spring-scene.

A three-quarter moon
gazed down wearing
it's gold ring of water

The air, chill, though
a burdensome thick
humidity hangs like a canvas bag

of sand
waiting to drop
onto the stage

No bird was heard;
all perched quietly beneath puffy cloud pockets;
waiting for lightening to pierce

and make them bleed....

of fervor 
nearing its climax. 
A delight beyond compare!
Floating 
on cloud nine
are two lovers
in prolonged embrace
beneath 
a quarter moon, lost 
in each other's arms. 
Their body heat
increasingly rising 
with each touch,
their passion 
simmering to a boil.
Two souls laid bare;
caged in ecstasy.
Their great love
transcending 
space and time!

In the late December sun ,
The robin perched there watches
As we offer him our crumbs.
The elegance of shapes laid bare
Forgives the winter cold.
And side cast sun rays clearly
Touch the embers of my soul.
Too soon the quarter moon will rise
To send the sun away.
So let us all wipe clean our eyes
To see what Winter says.
 For all the while the world rotates,
Regardless of our fate....

       yet to be made
       undo a pristine winter shore.
Nothing for neap tide to make undone
       in a lorn quarter moon.
Do not dance me in shimmers off
       moonlit incoming wake.
My hands are empty and yours
      undrawn.
My feet are numb with tardy

      without pity.

Of the plum tree
Thick snow
On the branches
A few wisps of steam rise
As a warm wind
The first of the season
Carries the sound of ice cracking
Through her still closed window
The light of the first quarter moon
And the glow of the angel beside her
Lights a path in the land of dreams
A land where time ebbs and flows like the tides
Where all those she had loved wait patiently for her
As her last few breaths quietly subside...

When the orchard grows deeply lush
filling all rows with grapes
etched by dusk like a bold paintbrush,
I trace its outline’s silhouette
and rove along this patch
Where quarter moon draws a vignette
as leafage unfurl like coiled frills
showing off plump of red …
fruits ripe turned into wine on mills
nectar releasing piquant scent--
A harvest which imbues
Nature,   her life- giving  intent.

Night and stillness gird our realm.
Cool, suspended nature rests as
stars pierce a blue-black sky.

Silence is draped like a pall over street, 
lawn, and shadowed walkway. 
Each twilight breath hangs muted.

A luminous slice of first quarter moon
purposefully arcs toward its own
slumber past the western horizon.

Dawn gathers potential during the
tranquility, preparing to shine forth with 
scintillating light, refreshing our eyes.
