Your harsh words they've outgrown

Garden Tercets
A backyard garden
planted with flowering perennials
so as not to seem deliberate

the green stalks swell
with anticipation
awaiting the creaking gate

of summer to open up
letting in, with a firm step,
the first orange flowers...

Perennials
Lost efforts
Will sometime abound
Not something needing
To hang around
Time in the moments
Can not be regained
But the rain check
Rings back from the mind
Giving better means to wind
Of ways to astound
The understanding
Peeks an attitude
Knowing the word lost
paints wins turn...

Premium Member Perennials In Their Seasons
Winter perennials lavished with hope
under layers of crisp snow
waiting their turn

Spring perennials hope to be noticed
duller than annuals
but more dependable and loyal

Summer perennials outlasting the annuals
proudly soaking up morning dew
last men standing

Fall perennials going away gently
giving their seeds gladly
easy like trees...

Smith-Gilbert trails — trellises of Georgia roses, the piney scent of conifers, plentiful perennials, the shady pond with splashing koi, the mulberry bowl, hand in hand — my grandson and I.

Premium Member The Banker
On our lawn I stand
Admiring three Islands
Perennials returned
Your harsh words they've outgrown
How would your garden grow?

Again you scoffed at
Sheer joy I earn with carve and trim
Life to lawn once dying
wins.

I know that feel inside
As you rock with breeze
Rocking chairs have held you
Have heard, "We don't need those."

There you go again
Denying flowers before I die
Your pie waits in the sky?
Keep banking sans expiration date.

Premium Member Spring Gardening
Raking out the garden,
Straightening the stones,
Thinning the perennials,
Removing old dog bones.

Cutting off dead branches,
Clearing out the hedge,
Burning all the rubbish,
Straighten gardens edge.

The air is finally warmer.
Spring flowers raise their heads.
The Tulips and the Hyacinths first,
To look up from their beds.

Next the Daffodils break ground,
Soon to raise their sunny faces,
And I rush to prepare the ground,
Make ready all their places....

Premium Member Flower Bed
She sleeps under her perennial sheets
Her mattress is six feet deep
The head and footrest approximate her size
Her hand holds a single red rose that cries

Years ago, her bed was scented
With crushed petals of a dozen roses
The happiness of her wedding day
Good intentions to which she’d pay

This pretty girl in perennials lives
In an affluent neighborhood that thrives
With rolling green hills and quiet trees
She paid the ultimate price of a rich man’s bride...

My Garden - My Little Bit
My little bit of natural life.
Its biodiversity rife.
Frogs, bugs, butterflies, hedgehogs, mice.
Annuals, perennials, lice.
Fruit, cherries, blackberries, no strife!

All in peak condition, no blite.
Every day new finds excite!
New for the county too, quite nice.
My little bit!

Records have to be recorded… type.
New finds my contribution… life
Each new record another slice,
For what it takes I’ll pay the price.
Enjoyed by me and my dear wife.
My little bit!...
