Joyful ebony ants paraded toward them
A steady stream, covering the bulb of a blossom
The plant rejoiced. Loving the attention.
Wind whistled approval; sure sign of summer solstice.
Blossoms tucked inside, listened to the avalanche of attention.
Instantly recognizing and approving the wonderfulness of nature...

a sea of peoples seeking for peace
i asked them,
"if the ship went down, which flower should they use at my funeral?"
he said lotus
but i said lavender
she said peony
but i said sunflower
out of the crowd someone screamed out, 
"use a bouquet"
i asked "why?"
he rephrased it and said
"idiot they all mean recovery and peace"

Late this year they lingered, never fading,
Reds, pinks, and white made warm bouquets
For the gravesites of family and friends in May.

The honeybees feasted on the peony blooms
As did the ants who love their sweet nectar,
Until rains came and plundered the petals
The peonies by the front porch are gone.

BUTTERFLIES RETURN
After the storm azalea perfumes
the lawn yellow., the bay tree
curtseys low,the copper stirs
and a firecrest alights upon
the smoke tree. Butterflies return
to sun,weed covers the pond,here
and there  the ceanthus coloured blue
stops the honey bee in its tracks.Ivy
climbs the wall un noticed,the peony
all dressed in white fragrants the air.

reminds my soul
of peony and rose
efflorescence petrichor scents.
Roaming among fountains of her blossoms,
lost in bucolic elegance.
Whispering sweet sighs
like verses for
music

ash smoke
brought drops of doom.
Was it a mere mirage
or a brief dance with dalliance,
but this ephemeral epiphany,
just like nature's seasonal moods,
left lyrics on my lips,
until storms blew
ash smoke
