Premium Member Entrance To Grad School

Goin’ to school
Grad school that is
But I’ve got to wait
Till they choose me
There’s a simple
Process needed to be done
Before they allow me in
It’s an admission decision
They will notify me
By email, phone, or letter
I’m waiting painstakingly
For the results

Listen to poem:
cold harsh desolate terrain
where life to us seems hostile and cruel
gardens painstakingly nurtured
with minimal returns

so much effort so little gain
yet a most appreciative and spiritual people
atop their mountains so close to God

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr 2020

Somewhere Up

The weight of a rainbow,
The glory of colours,
The artistry of nature,
The wonder of light.
Somewhere up,
Nature’s hands are at work,
Somewhere above,
Colours align painstakingly,
In a bow that shoots arrows of hope to humanity,
We remember a covenant,
We remember an age-old event.

Wordsmith's Day

Pulled a pail of words
From the well of my heart
Painstakingly stringed
The words in order
Create a web of thoughts
With these strings
Entangled in this web
Are my thoughts and emotions
All my imaginations
All the life’s lessons
Juggling words all day
Juggling thoughts all day
That’s how I, a wordsmith
spend each day…

Avalanche

Avalanche

Avalanched blizzards' cold dustings
           envelope:
 forests, gulleys, hillsides--
intentionally juxtaposing life...
 making necrose obstacles
   painstakingly quiver,
      releasing Snow!
             Tons!
Ubiquitous vagabond-wielding
        Xenophobics'... Yielding Zone!

Perpetually praising poet's perforce presence,
particular poets persevere penniless, proudly,
people present peonies, prizes,
poet's perennial prose, poesy,
pacific, provocative, purposeful,
painstakingly perfected, promising,
poet's prolific in populace,
platinum pens poised,
paper primed, persnickety,
pensive pinnacle power of poetic peace,
and posterity.

Premium Member Don'T You Hate When This Happens

You research choices thoroughly
  until your eyes dim blurrily

The issues you're so familiar with
you know them like your kin and kith

You review the votes each candidate casts
project their futures from their past

There's nothing that you fail to cover
over daily papers you fairly hover

You mark your ballot painstakingly
then forget to mail it, carelessly

I write to preserve
what I think. Sort of like,
making jam from fruit --
harvests of my mind sweetened,
then, painstakingly jarred. You
provide the Time, and I will be
your future spread. It’s what poets
do. What poetry is all about. What
you see of us is only a tasteful portion
of what we will become. With some
toast, a warmth of coffee, I will be
your perfection.

A Receding Hairline Poem With Traces of Grey

here on earth
i pray for all
in space
i have amnesia
the rainbow has golden strings
the sun has a surprisingly cool center
the moon has a warm, comforting glow
i am happy lying to myself

here at home
i play for all
rat race
i have amnesia
my voice painstakingly sings
my throat has a crockery laced splinter
the boos, yay, they steal the show
i get so excited when denying myself

Valentine's Day

so, the frenzied hunt is on,
for that perfect gift,
that unique something,
for that special someone.

Heart-shaped chocolates,
diverse species of stuffed animals,
gold and silver anklets,
carefully trimmed bouquets,
painstakingly worded cards,
gift vouchers, moonlit dinners,
cruises, picnics, breakfasts in bed.

Gosh, I’ve got to run,
I’ve just thought of exactly,

exactly what my cat will love…

Memories:

Unique libraries of unsurpassed grandeur

Safeguarding

The precious volumes of our life's history

That

Have, painstakingly, been written down with the use

Of

The ink of our tears, and the pen of our laughter

For

Later to read, at our leisure, with great delight

Before

The sun...goes down!
