Toast him or roast him
or follow your whim, and
put him out on a limb ~

  Both your futures are grim

A Limb

The man went out on a limb
To hire his best friend Kim
Who was dingy as hell
He couldn’t even spell
Put his signature name as Jim

A tall tree I did climb, on a bet of a dime. Baby Bear said it was funny, it was not for the big money. The limb broke what a crime.

Striking a Balance

Life
offers
diverse paths.
Travel wisely,
but sometimes dare to go out on a limb.

Don'T Go Out On a Limb

L-et Tuesday morning come,
I-n twenty-fourth January;
N-ight cold chill disappears,
D-awn erases the
A-gony.

B-lue water in the pool
O-pens the time for a swim;
H-aven't yourself gone
O-ut on a
L-imb.

Owl always love you
You are a hoot at midnight
I just love the way you say whoooo, whoooo...
I am glad that you chose me
To be your tree mate
I wouldn't want to be out on a limb with anyone but you
Whoo!!! Whoo!!

Court Jesters Trump and Biden

Trump and Biden are both whiners
Fake news both wanting to be headliners
Saying they won a contest
Both leaving all with unrest
Fighting over politics like minors

Contentment

She sits alone stretched out on a limb
Her feline grace catches sun warming rays
Content in magnificent thought she stays
While the gentle breeze sways
No reason to wander, more thoughts she will ponder
Quite secure in her domain

Simple Whistle

two sparrows out on a limb
cordial and looking just prim
they were looking down at me
as I sipped my evening tea.

I responded and whistled back
shifting gears they stayed on track
seems they were amused by my call
to me it was nothing at all.

Out On a Limb

My heart soaked in enticing wine
Drunk with love and mellowed,
Hangs out on a flower-laden bough
With new charm is endowed.

Come quickly my dear, oh, my love,
Come, for life is fleeting,
Ha, as soon as a flower blooms
Its beauty but takes wing!

Premium Member Tortoise and the Hare: Part V of a NEW Poetic Format

The hare expected to win and the tortoise knew he would lose--too much and too little of themselves, until fate intervened.

One sat under the apple tree until an apple fell on its head, and the other was on top of that tree, simply going out on a limb.

Mr Oak

There is one for whom I still care
So again I send up a prayer
That Mr. Oak would come to find
It's his heart he should listen to over his mind

My life is incomplete without him
So now I guess I'm out on a limb
You just want to be my friend?
Still feel that way? Can oak trees Bend?

Out On a Limb

Went out on a limb and lost my way
burned all the bridges I know
a drove of seagulls passed me by
flapping their wings, they waved goodbye
Now I'm heading your way,
and I pray the ocean leads me home.

Out On a Limb

A-ugust thirtieth Wednesday,
R-emain safe and sound;
C-over your life with shield,
E-vildoers roam around.
L-et not your soul be put in risky situation;
I-dentify the danger that causes destruction.

N-ever let the weather turn
I-nclement and dim;
L-et not yourself go
O-ut on a limb.

"Remembering you Rico, I know you could have done much better" Quote by the Poet

Tabby waits til a ladder arrives.
He already used eight of his lives.
Was just on a silly whim,
He had climbed out on a limb.
But very close to him, big bee hives.

Hanging Around

Mr Caterpillar crawling
out on a limb so far,
breezes in the air,
sun shining so bright,
dark blue skies over
his head, fluffy clouds
making way for
nature to sing,
all of the animals
of the forest asked
him, "What have you
been doing today?"
Mr Caterpillar
replied, "Just hanging
around."

Out On a Limb

Where does my hope go
When I can't find it anymore
Hiding with my faith
Behind a hidden door

Love can be lost
But always exist
It can't be killed
Even if I resist

Am I still here
As I lose myself
Can't find my image
Even on a shelf

I've lost my way
The path grew dim
No crossroads present
Alone, out on a limb.

They can put a man
On a pedestal,
Have him admired
Far and wide;
But he’ll never
Really be that tall
Unless he feels
That way inside.

The crowd can make
A man a king
And call him
A big success,
But he must reach
Goals he’s set himself
If he’s to find
True happiness.

Premium Member Mighty As Mountains

Two sets of three words each
  Each sets forces in motion
Mighty as mountains, vast as the ocean

The first set, "I give up"
  All momentum it quells
The future, disrupts

The other, "I love you"
Walks you out on a limb
Your destiny magical; alternatively, grim

Utter these three words with the utmost care
Never with a wing; always with a prayer

Premium Member Thankful For Optimists

May we be blessed to acknowledge all the wonders in our life
that have, for us, thus far accrued…
and to begin each day with a word of thanks…
and thoughts of gratitude.

Today I’m thankful for optimists….
yes, those who look on the bright side of life… I salute…
The ones who are never be afraid to go out on a limb
because they know…
that’s…where you usually find the fruit

Premium Member Three Guesses

Originally published in Out on a Limb, an Anthology for Friends June 2020

Little dogs,
To show how “big” they are,
Growl and snap in a mean gruff bluff;
And “little men,”
Yell and beat their chests and their wives
To prove they’re big, rough, tough.

But when truly formidable challenges
Finally come their way,
Three guesses.
Who’s first to run,
And which dog has his day?

Premium Member Dismissed

You sashay on by me
your nose in the air
a glance of dismissal
in those green eyes you wear

Enticing me more with
your lack of concern
Your show of indifference
Only makes my heart yearn

So I bow to your wishes
I bow to your whims
But find myself here
Stuck out on a limb
Trying to claw my way in

Oh…why do you scorn me?
What else can I do?
O Puddy Tat…Puddy Tat
I love you

Misssing

Value placed on the happenings
Posting the treasure in you
Calls in the night
Spare moment chats
Out on a limb for the right thing
Long awaited scant memory
Knowing of what was meant to be
Events causing stumbling blocks
Both been to the school of hard knocks
Time for reunions chart
Years passed
Doubt surfaced
Chiming in the new year
Making all things clear
Games in the rear
Positive actions intercede
