And the Beat Is Stuck
Why don't we move on musically
Why are we stuck in the '60's or 70's'
Maybe so oldie stations can thrive
~ back when we were truly alive...

Oldie But a Goodie
Father Christmas is old,
He was feeling tired and cold,
His wife said, "It's time to retire."
As they both sipped wine around their cosy fire....

Through the Glass Darkly
Through the
Glass darkly..
An oldie
But goodie..
The glass
Is not dark
Or light
There is
No glass at all..
There is a
Story starring
A character
Believing
She is
Waiting for
The dawn......

Oh, Morning Rose
Oh, morning rose,
So full of prose;
Greet the early sun with your pinkish cheeks;
As I see you glisten thru the day,
Happy and proud I am;
And, when times come for you to write
Your own cause, remember me,
Your oldie prose, always, I’ll be....

In Shadows
He spent long dull days
rigid like the straight back chair
where he sat making his plans.
He dreamed in shadows
and his plans - like the old chair -
never saw the light of day.

profuse cobwebs briskly brushed away
the piano rediscovered
tentatively touching ivory
ten fingers revive euphony
old memories begin to swell

The Running of the Bowls
It never seemed enough when Mom got done
with popping our best snack food; since our goal
was not to miss the shows, how fast we'd run
during the commercials to refill each bowl!

Springtime
The beast of winter
crept off after Spring's first week.
Sun now strokes my cheek.

Chapel Bells

Sometimes
Sometimes I feel like crying
on my really sad days
sometimes I feel like dancing
when an oldie but goodie plays
sometimes I feel like singing
when something stirs a note
sometimes I feel excited
when shopping I get to go
sometimes I need to whisper
so no one can hear
sometimes I can't remember
oh dear...

Rocking Into Night
In sinking sun's last radiant rays,
winds caress supple limbs of trees.
Shimmering palm leaves start to sway
in the emerging glow of twilight.
Sea joins in, touching sand at trees' feet;
moves in . . . and out. . . with rhythmic tides.

Ode To An Oldie
There once was a bucket from Nantucket
[Trump*]'s aides must make time to lug it
While running for office
His sh!t from each orifice
Needs giant commodes just to flush it

Six Dancers All In White
In my room late one night, I caught six dancers all in white.
In tutus, flowered caps, and tights, they twirled on tiny pointed toes.
Seeing me, they froze; those living dolls..... mere porcelain again.

Space Cadet
You'll find it is a good idea,
now and then,
to look at the bigger picture:
see with a broader view
the workings of your fellow men.
A word of advice, if I may,
please, don't stay too long,
be sure to always come back soon!
One learns next to nothing
about mankind
by looking at the earth
while standing on the moon.

Old Age
Old age
Threatening near
Wrinkles on forehead
Lines on corners of eye
Netted crosses on cheeks
Plumps of fat
On protruding belly
Double chins
Hanging loose
Shrivelled hands and fingers
Resemble those of a cold blooded animal
Clumsy legs
Staggering
Sinking eyes
Dimming
Exhausted brain
Confusing
A complicated world
A bleak future
For every oldie
And it comes only once...

Remembering Callie - Queen of Her World
My Calico was chocolate-caramel swirled,
The inside of our house was all her world!
Her whole concern was just in getting stroked or fed.
She'd summon me each morning, jumping on my bed;
then reaching out with one white paw, she'd tap my head!
An oldie!
(This is around the time several years ago that Callie had to be
put to sleep due to cancer. She lived 18 wonderful years with us!)...
