It's unusual for me, my tummy's upset
Seems I must have been a very bad cadet
Now paying the price
Or maybe 'twas the rice
Kinda rare will take Pepto Bismol to offset

this swirl of emotional paint
has left my walls offset
the colors change at moments faint
so nothing matches yet
i see if i'm to finish this
my supplier must be
a type of artist with a twist
of uniformity

May we be blessed when we look around the world
when we see people filled with hatred for one another
people being inhumane…and as as thoughtless as can be…
To do our best to show people
love
compassion
and kindness
to offset others’ cruelty.

Busking for breakfast in Kabul
a puffed up dream idealology
haze delineating freedom
as mournful tunes offset tranquility
Crowds gather to gawk
sentimental shards of shrapnel
life left unguarded
wasted away
another fateful scene screams

We’re all hurled
Into the midst,
A perfect world
Does not exist.
Taught to hate,
Doomed to die.
Our death rate
Has soared sky-high.
We can escape,
Begin the climb.
Build to reshape
Free from crime.
Help to offset
Push and shove.
Do not forget
How to love.

crows conjuring curious witches
cauldrons containing concoctions I concur with
elegance in ebony, elusive and alluring
sensuous in satin, sassy and scintillating
chosen for every painting I do
to offset the hot pinks and neons
to outline and exude and uplift
refined, respectable and reassuring

Floating above our fantastic blue marble
an ebony sky speckled with stars
bedazzles the eyes at night.
But when Sol rises
the sky bleeds
blue,
offset by
alabaster clouds,
misty puffs, fluffy and bright
absorbing rays of brilliant sunlight;
floating above our fantastic blue marble.

When first we met,
I marveled at your flawless flesh;
nary a wrinkle or blemish did offset.
Until cancer took your breast,
leaving a scar, obvious as a mountain range
upon your once flawless flesh.
The scar a reminder of what had been
and a symbol, not of an end,
but a new beginning to life again.

Keep telling myself that I’m the best
Give me a moment I need some rest
Give me a moment to clear my brain
For there is no pain, when there is gain
I know it will get better soon
Just an ordinary afternoon
The world won't be offset
A day I won't soon forget
This will certainly be the worst
The nice guy will surely finish first

Behind the most dazzling eyes you ever did see
Lives a tiger who will not be tamed
With great zeal she is willing to take on any task
Once she does so her focus is aimed
She's got strength that's internal, she's beautiful too
But don't let that your guard be offset
I'd be honored if maybe one day I could be with
The most incredible woman I've ever met

A vast ocean
our churning seas
sit within Earth's bowl
containing historical treasures
within murky depths
Secrets settled
still to be unveiled
Precious cargo's price untold
not known if would offset
the cost of any rescue or revelation
Untold scenes priceless
hold enormous quantities of life
scarred by the touch
and interference of our modern world

Suddenly I barely even know you
Feel like something
something has got to hold on me
Stop me from talking
I talk and shut
and speaking with you is
The hardest part.
I am offset.
I explain. I always argue and yet I stop
Cause my head drives me to
where I suddenly thought,
I hate you.

Smart stewardship of this money of mine
Ends up setting me for the next time
Then when things explode again
Fires of the stewardship can set a win
On the deliberate mindset
Rules of money management can offset
Living check to check is not fun
I wish the money was endless
Funky spending habits
Ends up ruining the thing that should have set up for life

Apples and Milky Way candy bars
My idea of eating healthy
Two bites of apple
A giant bite of Milky Way
Bite Bite BITE
Bite Bite BITE
The apples begin to taste sour
But I force myself to eat them
Thinking they will offset
the calories of the Milky Ways
Just four little ones
Yes I am eating four
Teeny tiny ones
Not four of the big ones
My idea of a diet

Some people are just like flowers
They bring color to a dismal world
They offset life's many greys
Their presence radiates the sun
Their friendship is like a blooming flower
That opens as time goes on
Each is unique and different
One would be blessed to have even one.

Lyric
Fizzled out I am; a failure!
Rejected and rebuffed by you.
Unwanted and unloved I feel.
Stressed out I am; so disappointed.
Teased and teased by you again.
Reality is a reversal of roles;
As I saw them. Angry? No not I.
Thwarted; trampled and tossed aside.
Injury of pride is what I'm suffering.
Outwitted, outguessed, and then offset.
Neutralized I was. No wonder I'm frustrated!

when your eyes caught mine
I knew I was lost and found
tacit LOVE remain
the same umbrella
provided the shade and FUN
chilled drinks didn’t help
to offset the heat produced
our lips connected, pure bliss
the beach has gone quiet now
just us and our POETRY
we are still making magic
this time with our lips

Calendars and note cards,
Labels by the score,
Memo pads and bookmarks,
Wrapping paper, sometimes more.
Every single charity
Reaches out to see
If any of their offers
Unlocks generosity.
For some I get the checkbook
(Yes, old-fashioned, but it works)
And send in a donation
To offset those little perks.
But after I am dead and gone,
My family, bereft,
Will be shocked at just how many
Address labels I have left.

Knuckles deep in a cat.
The spongy flesh pulses around my fingers
Each time I move inside.
Her stomach undulates
As if it was alive.
Wait-- it is.
I am trembling.
Her pained meows
Offset by the mewlings
Heard from within her.
The first head pokes out,
Slick and red
Staining the scratchy towel underneath.
Then more, four in all,
Pawing clueless about on the reddened fabric.
Their eyes still shut, yet they see the world.

Everyone's waiting
baited breath
fluttering hearts
And shoulders tilted like balances offset
But who sees it coming
Anywhere. No one
All hear whispers and sees not the mouth
With hands aside and lips held tight
We wait for something uniquely ours
Til the clock stops ticking and
the cuckoo flies its nest
And like strangers we stare
Bewildered and unsure; uncertain
Of all surrounding
Eyes stagnantly defiant
Unmoved, we wait.

Bio
Entry level
Just a beginner
Made a mistake
Was deemed a sinner
Blue cloud in a red sky
Offset from the rest
Light heart and a clear head
Weight off the chest
Thought she owned it all
When she blossomed into a flower
No responsibility
But wanted all the power
Wisdom with age
Overseeing the past
Should have enjoyed more
Life moved too fast
Storybook ending
Isn't realistic
Anythings possible
It pays to be optimistic

Usual cliche opening line
A trite and superficial rhyme..
Now exposition maudlin-
about pain or love or the weather.
A clever offset bit of sing-song;
Stuff like ding-dong or even King-Kong.
And, as usual a line to make-
this thing too long. Now finish strong-
to alert the reader to the fact
this poem has run out of time.
In this space, of course, I'll tack
A little "AbAb" end rhyme.
And too be cute, say it turned out fine.

I am pulling out from the committed
sin, cadaver walking,
digging the gold from the pit.
Footwears of dead men were
heaped into a pile when
god was praying.
Was it a perceived tragedy
of a man drawing doodles
to offset the sunset ?
You were alone, dousing
the fire and shaping the clay. The
hamlet was less inclined to intercede.
Your flesh slips from my hands
for a rebirth. I was flying a kite.
I was dead before you were born again.

Things before our sight
We did not realize true value
Shadow when realized us
Beam enters eye to continue
Say: Not salvation pitying
Loss of wings mid-day
It has become dream to flying
Is the truth, to wind?

Beautiful roses in grove
Mothers to subsequent
Face your father always bright
Who loss of his father
Tasted bitterness of existence
He lived alone with fullness of the universe
Would offset tremulous
Way episode to append
