Waiting

Everyone's waiting baited breath fluttering hearts And shoulders tilted like balances offset But who sees it coming Anywhere. No one All hear whispers and sees not the mouth With hands aside and lips held tight We wait for something uniquely ours Til the clock stops ticking and the cuckoo flies its nest And like strangers we stare Bewildered and unsure; uncertain Of all surrounding Eyes stagnantly defiant Unmoved, we wait.
