The horses’ve hurried in.
A damp cat, mutely purring....

Silence,
mutely vibrant,

Spring Seed
Mutely, they languish
in embryonic earth—
wait a rust of water,
a red blossom
bursting
from screaming
sepia mother....

Premium Member Jar
A jar now mutely holds washers and clamps, nuts, bolts, screws, buttons, and the oddity. It once held the dreams I dreamt and jangled with hopes, desires I’d saved, lost in one life.

Envious Admiration
Yonder on the lake, quiet, unhurried,
svelte swans drift, swishing
in soft, slow motion.

They preen in pairs and admire
their own reflection there
on the liquid mirror.

Enchanted by their own grace and
beauty, they mutually, mutely
envy each other !...

Spring Rain: Inspired By An Ancient Poem Iii
The knowing rain arrives
only when the time is right
  before apparent signs of spring.
It creeps in through the dark night
  borne by breezes light,
  mutely bathing all things.
Dawn glow reveals damp, rosy patches
of petals in the city, heavily laden....

Never Enough
They are never enough, these words splashed upon a pristine canvas, thoughts scratched into quicksand. We are chasing something that cannot be named for fear of awakening. Better to dream from the ink, better to speak from all those mutely telling word.

Nostalgic Encounter
Today I bumped into my Childhood
and it did not recognize me.
I said: "Hi! Do you live close by?"
It answered mutely with frightened eyes...
Reality was pulling it away from me
I had Childhood in my palms today
but once again it cried snowflakes
of tears of Christmas long time gone......

Unsolicited
The defense is automatic
Actions, autonomic
Devoted to the cause, charismatic
Emotions for all seasons, climatic

I weary,
I smile
I compliment, silently

I advise
I encourage
l congratulate, mutely

l feel
I break
l heal, repeatedly

I love
I pray
I hope, constantly

My feelings
My devotion
My actions, unsolicited....

Mutual Envy
quiet, unhurried,

           yonder upon the lake,

in smooth, slow motion, swans drift,

preening in pairs, admiring their own

reflection there on the crystal water,

amazed by their own grace and beauty,

             mutually, mutely envying

each other!...

Conundrums
Abandoned shoeprints
pressed between night and day.

Muddy, empty, discarded,
throats wide open,
mouths mutely appealing,
tongues untied,

revealed in the act
of escaping
both dark and light.

Two elderly men sip tea.
The loud ticking of a communal clock.
Unshod feet shuffle in white cotton.

Perpetual twilight stirs milk
in dimming eyes.
Exasperated attendants hunt
for lost shoes....

Old feathers

ancient eyes

new lips

romantic face

handsome heart,

your dry sorrow

his healing palms,

large love

kisses of cream

rose pocket

deep touch

passionate pull,

He comes for your heart...

a soul plucker

hunts light

stalks beauty

cries caress

blood beast

prays mutely,

song stays

weaponized wisdom

sensitive wrong

God groans -

Premium Member Far Top
I saw a mountain from afar
Looming beneath the evening star.
Mutely it called for me to go
As it faded in day’s last glow.

From a clear lake beside its base
It soared up where eagles don’t dare.
My climb was steep; I did not care.
I reached the peak, edging blue space.

Alone I stood on that far top
Like the lord of a vast domain.
Happy I was but could not stop:
Yet more mountains beyond remain....

To the Sun-Lit Mead
Oh! I can’t my beloved, if you would!
Fly, or clamber to the sun-lit mead
In the jade heights of there, the eastern-woods;
We’d sprint to the upper cedars
And down to the gorge is grave;
Sit by the frozen snows
Stand ‘neath the white-cloud;
Recline over the tall turf, and mutely listen to the vale;
Talk to the dwelling shepherds,
Kiss, cuddle their she-sheep;
They serve us tea,
And shall smile, and would love....

Premium Member The Still Bleak Morrow
The wind blew and lighting bugs flew In on a warm summer night undue. A man mutely sitting on the edge Of a rocky ledge Mulls over of days gone by Like a river gone dry Knitting the feelings of the unkind Past in his mind Giving into sullen sorrow. Maybe it'll change tomorrow. Nevermore will time be leaden With bleakness, but only by death's end.

Premium Member Spacious Heaven At a Glance
In the midst of midnight twilight stance,
Amorous moon, sails veil moment trance.
Transform a lustrous, finely colored finesse.
Spacious heaven at a glance,
Autumn wind threads a rhythmic dance,
Poetic dreams and romance.

Stars whirl mutely in distant space;
Submissively fade in the night's countenance.
Never ending or beginning expanse.
Goodbye to yesterday quintessence.

Dark Shadow
Cleaving to all its bustle and ado,
What trails behind is one’s own dark shadow.

O man, choke not with truth buried below,
Its fingers point to your vainest ego.

He’s no man that mutely accepts his fate
Resigns to whatso fate, whatso morrow,

A sheep in flock he’s no better to know,
In cool ash of ignorance to wallow,

A man is he defeated but by him—
O fight thy pretender, beat him hollow.

Rusted Autumn
Full of looming fruit
The black wind whispers
the children lived blithely
yonder in blue cave
The silent river protrudes
by the forked road
where the seagrass grows

The seagull mutely follows
jaded in evening sun
old church bells whisper chimes
Coolness and Autumn play in lonely chambers
Sacred blue chimes in plaid footsteps

The rusted window rattles
to the graveyard on the hill
The legends are foretold
twig like, the people remember
the dark ember days of spring...

Pizza Neons
Down below, the lights of the night traffic
subtly tint and tinge the wide, damp window
whose glass broods cold, mutely enigmatic.

But although its sullen, graphite grayness
is never a part of the glass itself,
no amount of dusting darkens it less.

Like a museum pane of years olden,
it looks down on the throbbing avenue
as pizza neons tarnish it golden!...

The Phoenix
THE PHOENIX

You tried to choreograph my life
Cajoled me to dance to your fancies rife
While in every step you tried best
To see me mutely obey at your behest
With my happiness buried, dreams shattered
But I have made it impossible to render me battered
For my soul is fortified by scars of plenty whip-lashes
You try to burn, like the phoenix I rise from the ashes
With propriety I know now to shield my dignity
And fight alone with grit, on life's stage every malignity!
