snow on his head
fire in his bottom
hot potato in his mouth
thorns in his feet
preparing for marathon
with teenagers
You see them stretching
bending each leg back so far
boundaries tested
overextending limits
~ Then they run a marathon
Morning; I awake
with stiffness in my
lank legs.
Yesterdays long run
has taken its toll
on my
ungrateful, ageing
body.
between our efforts and its reward -
lies a marathon of patience
A Place, A Race,
Of Victory Won
Rupp Atlanta's Marathon!
Efforts Full With Prayer's Brung!
In His Finish, First Place Run!
With takeovers bankers are set
But Capital One's is a threat
Owning Discover
As surrogate mother
Makes Visa and Mastercard sweat
The course is lovely, hills are steep
But I need a steady pace to keep
And miles to go–I must dig deep
And miles to go–I must dig deep
marathon runner
all the way with a sprained knee ~
a sheer force of will

Blisters from shoes, hampered his speed
Banters from foes, sauntered to bleed
Ran barefooted, marathon booted
Ethiopia on his feet, milestone in feat.
Why do these girls run, why? tell me
Why are they running the marathon?
All deserve a gold medal, all of them
I have tears in my eyes when I see them.
One day here, next day gone
An unexplainable part of life's marathon
That day is final
Seems so primal
Creatures of earth as we pass the baton
little girl of about nine is running alone in the marathon
two or three older women decide to keep keen watch
protecting her as best they can without scaring her
It’s blade severs night;
A razor flying through space
leaves an injured void.
Soaring legs in marathon;
meteor in burning flight.
Listen to poem:
It's easy to find those who'll sprint,
To the end, with a heroic gleam,
But to run the long race,
With a steady, patient pace,
Is a rarer and more noble dream.
I heard a story that is not so pure
about a town woman with no demure,
they said she likes dirty fun
I told them I now must run...
Tomorrow, I'll worry about a cure!
Sorrows
No matter how thi try
Sorrows do not cease to follow him on the roads
On the sea on the skies on the lands
They runs like rushing a marathon in his blood
Winning the lottery,
Wishing for a good place,
Wrestling for a trophy,
Walking the marathon,
Working for a sad man,
Watching our enemies.
Were all of these worth it?
Form:
I ran the 10K marathon.
At once I knew I’d chosen wrong.
My heart and lungs on fire,
I thought I might expire.
Next time I’ll safely watch from home.

Miracle juice
From mashed miracle fruits
A marathon of miracles
Let loose
Yes I'm an
Amazing miracle
But that's nothing new
It's amazing
How you don't have a clue
he foresees the sun’s eclipse ~ not the eclipse of Sophia’s white light

Ginger haired elf with a shiny fresh face
Roses decorated her eyes, she was full of grace
Perhaps she was a faerie who had lost her place.
She was ahead in every marathon race.
Love always finds away
When a cycle to understand,
Now together forever
For Milt, his journey over
a gift so lovely returned.

The Real Pheidippides
Athenian messenger Pheidippides
Died 30 years before the birth of Thucydides
Most famous hemerodrome day-runner
Ran a 300-mile ultramarathon stunner
Two roads diverged on the marathon course
And obviously I couldn’t travel both
And neither were they clearly marked
So I took the one I thought was best
And now I’m far behind the rest
The lady doth protest too much, methinks‘
(Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 2)
