Silent one, you are very kind! Business is really a "civilized" form of trying to take it all away from others....competition. In theory it leads to a better result for everyone. In practice, we're not so sure....especially when special interests start influencing the outcome. Government is supposed to regulate this and give us a level playing field.

Excellent limerick on the changing times, Duke. We use one card for everything for the cashback perk. (we pay several times each month to eliminate the interest) We haven't paid interest in the 14 years we've been using Discover. I'm glad I decided to check your poetry out, I'll be following your limericks, they're great. This one gets a FAV for my list. A poet in Texas, Bill

Thanks Bill...I shall return the favor and look at yours too. Those of us who can pay off the balance and just collect points with no interest. Congress is trying to eliminate this perk as they feel it is unfair and actually makes those who don't pay their balance off have to pay more. Stay tuned!!

I heard about that--you captured that newsbreak brilliantly, Duke. Big gets bigger--that can be troublesome.

It may not go through. But we’ll have to wait and see. I’m always amazed at the deals corporations make. They love acquisitions and the money involved in some cases.

Your limerick serves as a poignant reminder, Duke. Reverting to a cash-based approach amidst the current economic inflation may prove to be a prudent financial decision. Credit card companies meticulously analyze their customers and encourage increased spending.

SP, yes they love it when we carry a balance. The interest rates tend to be high. It is quite convenient though not to use cash. We consumers are in a tough place.

Personally, I'm returning to cash. Credit cards profile their members. Your poem is a good wake up call.

No question there is a lot of advertising on the credit card websites to try to get us to spend. As you point out, they know where you've spent money, what types of goods you're buying and how much you spend. I'm waiting to offer cash and have the sales person say, "What's that?"
