Generous
A young woman she was
Sterning beauty, her description.
She was Hospitable to the unworthy;
She was Kind to the monstrous.
She smiled at everyone,
Even when she was at her lowest.
Generous was her name.
Generous was her character....

Of Tetley's and V-2's
Of Tetley’s and V-2's
(or, “Why Not to Bomb the Brits”)
by Michael R. Burch

The English are very hospitable,
but tea-less, alas, they grow pitiable ...
or pitiless, rather,
and quite in a lather!
O bother, they're more than formidable....

Adoption of Despair
Soul poured out wild and bitter malice
Wants nobody to visit a hospitable palace
Who will appreciate the sincere heart?
Find yourself in solitude is a great art
Without companions for the battle goes warrior
And in case of death, he'll not be sorrier....

I used to eat 'til I was stuffed
never knew when I'd had enough
  Some folks called me roly-poly
    others found me gruff

Now I'm satisfied with just a little
which does wonders for my middle
And did I mention my transformation
    from hostile to hospitable...

Marrakech
Mellifluous is its name,
August and worthy of its fame,
Romantic and idyllic all the same,
Refulgent and bright in the myopic’s eye,
Abstruse to the ignorant mind,
Keen to the witty’s wit.
Ebullient in the face of melancholy
Classic during the day, but
Habitable and hospitable in a humble way....

The Aquarium
Is so spectacular.
They're man made places
To show us how aquatic
Things live underwater.
The huge water filled enclosures
Are decorated spaces
For each inhabitant
Which makes them unique
And hospitable.
Children are educated,
While being fascinated,
And insatiable
While enjoying the calming effect of the
Aquarium....

Mirror, My Friend
Mirror, my friend, I ask, if you please.
"Am I kind? generous? one who meets needs?"
Why ask? A stranger's hospitable deeds
are worth far more than empty vanities.

King Henry VIII, Act II, Scene III
"...worth more than empty vanities"
and of course, the biblical Good Samaritan....

My Request To a Root
I nourish a wish for long
To enter into a tree
So I frequently go
To a forest deep
At jet black night
And touch a root
And request it
Even for a moment
To take me in
After all trees are not stone
Neither they are jealous
Or show their grabbing attitude like men
They are judicious
Sympathetic and full of love
More hospitable for a man
Than a man for a man
Oh tree, even for a moment
Please take me in...

Southern Belle
Sweet and charming in everything I do or say
Outspoken when it is called for
Unique in my own right as I am sassy too
Talks with an accent that some like
Hospitable to each and everyone
Enjoys being a flirt
Really knows how to charm
Never gives away my inner most thoughts

Beautiful in my own right
Each day is another day to be
Learns manners early on
Lady like in all the public sees
Eloquent even when I do not want to be...

Borneo's Green Heart
A gem of a nation
An abode of peace
A treasure of empire
A haven of tranquility
A kingdom of treasures
An oasis of modern empire
A space of warmth greeting
A den of hospitable people
A neoclassical form of politics
A gateway to beyond comports
An avenue of understanding
An environment of treasures
An ancient Sultanate kingdom
An indeed pampering Brunei Darussalam

Acme
The discovery of a new planet.
That is hospitable.
That is as beautiful as our own.
We forget.
A discovery that changed the world.
And the people that made it possible.
We forget that as well.
To me, the word “acme,” is new and old.
It tells a story of perfection.
When a scientist makes a new discovery.
Inventing their lives into a dwindling existence.
We forget.
The electricity in our homes.
Used to be a thing of beauty.
Is now ordinary.
Acme.
Is a word we forgot as well....
