A rare and dangerous species
is the hippopotomouse
If you get one in your attic
Then you’d better leave your house....

There once was an ape named Ollie
Who rode around in a trolley
Three hippos in a bath
They made a hyena laugh
As a duck swam holding a brolly...

Atishoo
At Christmas I contracted the flu
From taking the kids to the zoo
The hippos were a wheezing
Ten monkeys were sneezing
Now my temperature’s a hundred and two!...

Domestic Animals
Relieved from horrible attacks of lions
Elephants, hippos, Crocodiles, bears, wolves
Tigers, cape buffalos and wood bison...
Cows and sheep and goats and rabbits and swine
Chicks and ducks took shelter under humans
Only to die each moment fearing slaughter...!

Toys
I like cars, trucks,
and shiny airplanes.
I like helicopters, buses,
and locomotive trains.

I like lions, zebras,
and elephants too!
I like rhinos, hippos,
and giraffes are cool.

I like guitars, drums,
and all my toys!
I love playing and pretending,
like most little boys!...

Fantasy Land
I see beyond the pages of a book, where stories are more then just words. Pictures come to life with every turn. Imagination takes control. As elephants dance and giraffes wear pants. monkey's eat ice cream or hippos walk the balance beam. A world full of fantasy and dreams. Beyond the pages, is what I see.

Hippos
?I watch you move gracefully through the water
Your sleepy eyes and lazy ways
during the hottest days.
Oh, how great art thou yawn.
From the sun’s rays, you’ve withdrawn.
You don't move around like busy bees.
You keep cool in a watery pool,
fanned by the summer breeze.
To figure you out, why do I bother?
You're one of the most unique creatures God ever thought of....

Hippy hyena hid hipster hippo’s hysteria.
Ignominious iguana ignored Iceland’s icky industries.
Jovial jelly jars joyfully jumped jubilantly into June.
Kind kangaroos killed Kansas’s killjoy kindnesses.
Loving lithe llamas languished, lacking lonely leaders.
Marvelous magnificent magicians masqueraded as maestros.
Needless nutcrackers helped hippy hyenas hide hippos’ hysteria....

Robert Mugabe Tears
It is better to choose to stay with a rate.
It is better am still breathe.
It is better I choose to stay forest with wild animals.
It is better am still alive.

Drought come to me.
In my Zimbabwe.
My tear flow.
River of Limpopo start to flow.

The crocodile and fish start to laugh.
This dam of my tears makes frogs and hippos happy.
My blood bleeding.
That's why I shrink like a new born.

Wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle,
Such a wonderful sight to see.
         Lions, hippos, and elephants;
Like tiny toys appeared to me.

Above the desert, 'neath blue sky,
      My memory recalls the flights,
Aloft in those hot air balloons,
             Thrilled by the Serengeti sights.

My Mind
My mind is like waves
it knocks at every shore

hippos in the water
fish swimming within
divers in their leisure
scientists on study tour
feel the pitch of my mind

but no one is offended
sometimes it gets space
that is when it rejoices
yet when it attempts to fill
the gaps in existence
to give meaning to reality
primitive waves rise up
wanting to swallow it

mind’s mouth is censured
attempts to open and talk are
dangerous games of turmoil...

Ogori-Magongo
This is Ogori-Magongo,
a land of many hills
towering high
above houses and
farmlands
scattered about
like cowries cast
on a diviner's tray.

Ogori-Magongo,the land
where gunshots herald
 moments of merriment
with well-wishers
dinning till tummies
threaten to burst,
and wining
till senses go to sleep.

Ogori-Magongo,
a stream from where
emerge
many intellectual hippos
whose steps quake the
earth.

N.B. Ogori-Magongo is a
community in Kogi state of
Nigeria....
