Semenary
Whenever the wife needs a break
From necking when I'm on the make
Her hammer and stake
Just make my heart ache
And terrifies my garter snake...

Premium Member Barn Owl Lands With a Whump
Barn owl lands on the soft grass
With a giant whump
Scaring away mice and chipmunks
They scatter in many directions
A garter snake was not as lucky
He gets carried off in giant talons
Lunch for owlets...

Premium Member Snake Pops Up
Snake pops up out of dead leaf pile.
Grandchildren scream.
Grandma picks up snake, a garter, not a python.
Puts snake on her lap, begins singing a "snakey song".
Everyone's in line, wanting the next turn.
All fear gone....

A Cherry On Top
There once was a dancer who stripped
for the five-dollar bills I gripped;
she put them in her garter,
for some more she worked harder...
now she's eating ice cream - hand dipped!

Beginnings
Innocent ears…
catch the gentle scrape
of nylon against nylon
Innocent eyes…
catch a flash of garter
Right knee over left
The simple motion
of legs crossing

She catches me looking
She is older than me
She glances down
She glances back up
She tugs her lower lip
and smiles at me…...

Beginnings
Virgin ears...
catch the gentle scrape
of nylon against nylon

Virgin eyes...
catch a flash of garter
Right knee over left
The simple motion
of legs crossing

She catches him looking
She glances down
then glances back up

Pouting, sultry expression:
tugging her lower lip
she smiles…...

April snow
offering a fresh canvas
                                  ……Jonquils…….spring’s rebuttal

soft bunny ears
hide among the tulips
                            ……pink nose…..red petals

garter snakes slither
slowly searching for the sun
                                           ………… warm stone beckons

A VIRGIN FLOWER

A virgin bride tosses her bouquet in a sendofF.
Every little girl, shouts with hands, hopefuL,
and the beauty that catches it, is met with a bashful, “hellO” –
from the dashing young boy, and so, she gets a previeW.
He hikes a garter up her leg, a tradition of lovE?
Would she be domesticated, a virgin to conqueR?

Wild West Filly
lost in the
wild west riding
into town
gunslinger
trigger finger
meet the best
and go down
local saloon
I found clarity
with a girl flirt
said her name was
"Charity"
I told her
I would give
until it hurt
and charitable
she was...
with a howdy miss
gave her a kiss
just north of
her garter county
line she said how
about you grab
that garter
pardner
ride this filly
to the triple crown
you tasted
the best now
I expect you
to go down...

Eden In Passing
To enter the forest you must
                    know the characters by name
                    garter snakes that tempt
                    chipmunks the dog chases
                    undergrowth of grasses
on a hill that leads to the lake
and all is rich and green
                    childhood summers Eden in passing
                    lessons of fall to remember
in the winter of your life....

Premium Member Would It Seem Odd
I am in a restaurant booth alone, reading.
A happy voice uplifts.
"Found a snake in my bed, just a little one. A garter snake".
I stop reading and listen. They are in the next booth.

Her friend says nothing.
I feel disappointment that I cannot see their faces.

He has the biggest…..giggle. Giggle.Giggle.
I struggle to hear more,
but alas, they are even quieter.

Suddenly a loud shriek of laughter.

Would it seem odd if I were to join them?
Probably…...

Premium Member OFF THE BALCONY - Anacreontic Couplets
Roses spread with lace garter;
Boutonnière and charter.
Green meadow eyes clung to lass.
Juliet was upper class.
A shepherd was he, with crook.
All gentle men, she forsook.
Under the willow, the wind
Warmed petals with no rescind.
Tempo was slow with his bride
Deep smile, a groom could not hide.
Underneath his ruddy beard,
“Reverie,” the garden cheered.
How lucky was a poor man
To find a robust woman.
Off the balcony she came.
Her shepherd, never the same.

Premium Member A Warm Start To a Cool Day
The chipmunk bares her teeth, not in anger, but in fun, and to scare her enemy.
I meander a bit to the left,
letting the cool grass push me along,
and then I shoot off with a bit of sass,

Intimidated, but not daring to show how much.
I do not take a backwards glance.

Chipmunk one, garter snake zero,
but it is a cool, pretty day, and I do not care as I slither to
                                the wetness of my marsh....
