Coach Belichick must have stumbled
New England gets the Jet’s jumbled
Game signals to read
All exposed—was this deed
An interception play fumbled?

Untitled

I fell in love,
With an idea,

But Idea's wont keep you warm at night

So chilled to the bone,
I fumbled for a match,
And like most little girls who play with matches,

I wound up engulfed in flames.

Bad Limerick

Through a limerick a poet once bumbled. With the meter he fumbled and stumbled. So he thought: “How pathetic to be waxing poetic!" And he hung his head thoroughly humbled.

Heather's Feather

There was once a hot dancer named Heather

Who for her act wore just a huge feather

She fumbled her prop one night

And much to her fan's delight

Fled from the stage in her altogether

Symphony Sound Sympathy

Once I whispered like a child
Cup-handed (gleefully)
But the cup is full of whiskey now
I fumbled (shamefully)
My head was filled with light
Your imagination: my symphony
My mind is cluttered now
My indignation: your sympathy

Snowman and Wine

There was a snowman who loved to wine
He dunked a bottle but felt unfine,
   Round body then stumbled
   All messed up, he fumbled
In yoga headstand dazed on thin vine.

I Will Find You

Patient for this journey to end;
As long as I'm able to bend
and manipulate a sour trend;
No more pretend, no more pretend;

If I have to try something new
it may be a fumbled debut;
All that's left is to continue;
I will find you, I will find you.

Is This Why They Drank It

The sensation of contemplation leaves me shaken
Stirred and worried
I fumbled through my choices
Stumbled into annoyance and dissatisfaction
Is this why they drank it?
Should I go on until I get too f***ed up fall asleep while you talk about what I used to be like?

Abercrombie the Zombie

When Mr. Abercrombie
Became a human zombie
He stumbled for the right to get ahead
But when he humbled Cathy
He fumbled psychopathy
And now Miss Abernathy, is dead

Crafty Lawyer

Downtown there once was a crafty lawyer
Egged his clients to be straight-faced liar
Facing the judge they fumbled
Grilled, façade of lies crumbled
He lost all cases, made money each year.

Home at Last

I found today
I found a start
Along the way
I found my heart

I felt the pace
I felt the beat
I saw her face
I felt the heat

I fumbled nouns
I fumbled verbs
I mispronounced
I slurred my words

I felt her hand
Caress my face
I understand
I found my place

He

He wriggled and squirmed,
Like a demented worm.
Fidgeted and fumbled,
Grimaced and grumbled,
He jiggled and jived,
Contorted and writhed,
Kept saying Arrr,
Like a wasp in a jar.
He was out of control,
This poor wretched soul,
As he reached fever pitch,
He found the itch,
Which he scratched until,
His body stayed still.

The Power To Influence

On top, the crowd will chant your praises
Attention is the title to your theme song
No worries of disapproval cross your mind
Up on the podeum to influence the people of today
Tomorrow is not in your lexicon of this moment
Time has strengthened your global grasp
Crowds worshipping every dropped syllable
Every fumbled adjective is golden

The Last Kiss

All I want is to kiss you;
Go to a quiet spot, be alone;
There is nothing left to say,
I want you to be my last one;

Go to a quiet spot, be alone
under the glow of the Moon;
I want you to be my last one,
forget all my fumbled words;

Under the glow of the Moon,
there is nothing left to say;
Forget all my fumbled words,
All I want is to kiss you.

Gaunt Gift Grasped

bruised bliss puked
vying voluptuous view
lanky lust lurched
veiling hankering verge
dark drips dangled
felon fate fumbled

saucy sight seeped'n
nocturnal spell spree,
callous contraction's creed

moaning mists melted
basked braces belched
smothered syllables rent

gaunt gift grasped
taunted troubled trance.

Farcical Fury Fumbled

whooshing wits woven
crushed tongue cloven
dark age drooled
felon fate fooled
haughty nature's nimble
foiling feasts feeble

salient seal bruised
callous crave cruised
vying voluptuous view

severed passion smoldered
crushed, crimson asunder
squashing lanky lethal

farcical fury fumbled
fiddling fostered fickle.

Frail

Weary eyes gazed to the sky.
Pleading for the sun to beam a hope of comfort.
Mind wandering in the midst of wind.
As to why he was paying for his father’s sin.
Petite hands trembling.
As he fumbled in bewilderment.
Skinned down to the naked bone.
A feeble body diminishing suddenly,
amongst a memory leisurely deteriorating.
With only the remembrance of purple leaves.

Knowing How To Love

I don't know anyway to love you
 Than the way I do
I tried to call the four winds
 they weren't enough
 I've traveled a dusty lane
 And visited a shaman

All in the search for clarity

I don't know anyway to show my love
 I grasped at stars
 And fumbled a galaxy
 I watched a night bloom
As the last ray of day died
 In supplication I knelt

Reverently I show my love
The only way I know how

However Long It Takes

Quarantined, you're stuck behind panes of glass, depriving you of physical contact. Goodbyes get exchanged like a fumbled pass, sorta clumsy, putting on a brave act. Ah, maw, we’ll visit you here on the grass however long it takes, and that's a fact. (Harrisham Rhyme) 04/20/2020 Each Letter Threads The Verse Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Joseph May

This Gem of Mine

A dinosaur,
said he saw,
the seashore,
but he wasn't sure
what the sea was for.
A butterfly,
said he saw the sky,
but he didn't know why,
the sky was so high.
A humble turtle,
fumbled over a hurdle,
but being a turtle,
it didn't hurt at all.
A fat cat sat on a mat
after eating a rat.
I picked up a pen,
at ten past ten,
and robbed you of time
with this gem of mine.

BrOken Glass

Played with, mishandled, juggled, fumbled then
dropped

Once whole but now broken, this precious glass

Shattered and liberally on the ground it lays

A motley of pieces large, small, and in between
all scattered

No longer smooth and pleasant to the hands and eyes

Broken,

Broken is this glass.

Many jagged edges are now dangerous to
the touch

Broken and distorted is this glass

Pen and Paper

Every day is a page to write a new story
Though spilled ink caused my fumbled words
The torn pages of my past
Hiding out behind lock and key

Preserving every new adventure
A museum of my inner self
Scrambling to find the last page
Fearing the tragedy of writer's block

The lullabies of tales before me
Encouraging, yet dismissed
My blood flows through my pen
No chapters skipped
I will give you everything

'wizard ---- the Awakening'

he draped his arms around her
his way of providing comfort
her knees gave way, she was slowly slipping
hands fumbled,
they had to pause; both were on the edge
muffled sounds were heard
they could not deny
the awakening,
there was no time to dwell
on what would happen tomorrow
all they had was today,
all they had was tonight

Draped / slipping / pause /
edge / muffled / deny /
awakening / dwell

Gait

My gait spasmodic
I staggered drunkenly
My inner voice a thousand tongues
Of crazed cacophony

In mumbling incoherence
My muddled mind benumbed
I sought the words I fumbled for
As if I were struck dumb

But sentence was unstructured
And thought was compromised
Were I to even form a word
Complexity – be mine

The Thought took hold – though –
In shape – and form – and slowly
I expressed in words
What only wise men know –
