He's skipping
To fourth grade
After the break

He's skipping
Half a year
And it has
Brought us cheer

2 c what
He knows
2 c how
He's grown...

Bilingual Book
I read an old story I wrote in a note book,
it was from fourth grade,
I think,
and it was like reading dome foriegn script.
Have I really changed that much?...

Basketball Shoes
My basketball sneakers could make me fly
In fourth grade I could jump so high
I wasn't the best on the team
But I was in my dream
With those shoes, I swear I could touch the sky....

   Sally stood alone,
In a corner of the room.
   No one said "Hi",
Or asked her to stop by.
Sally started the fourth grade today,
   No one looked friendly,
   Or even looked her way....

Premium Member A Special Teacher

Art teacher, fourth grade, was Sister Yvonne-
Dominican Nun I could rely on.
She fostered my talent with special care
that gifted my life with artistic flair.

Sad Life 22
Tomorrow marks the
first day of fourth grade
We head to the doctor
We get weighed
At 40 lbs, I am in the fifth percentile
that's a good score, right?

My sad life poems have been compiled into a larger series
The sad life series is followed by
Healing and hardships
The OK times
Splintering
Return
School
School and covid
And finally into 2023...

Premium Member I Am a Magician
A spanking new fourth grade boy in
the most rigid fourth-grade teacher’s class
introduced himself in this way
“I am a magician. I hypnotize my parents nightly.
They do what I want, when I want, per my instructions.”
Two girls giggled.
“You will be turned into frogs later,” he assured them.
The teacher started to say something but it came out as a croak....

Bubbles
bubbles remind me of deep water
an ocean of midnight stealing my breath
it's slow motion cold constricting my lungs
sending circles of my life to the surface to pop

bubbles remind me of fourth grade summers
and the dish soap smell of the bubbles we blew through
a plastic stick with a circle on the end
watching them rise in the air until they popped
and splattered our still innocent faces...

Sweet memories of her remain since she stopped by my desk that day and saw my artwork clear and plain, amazed that I could draw that way. My fourth-grade teacher hugged me tight and whispered, "You are gifted, dear." Through many years, she gave me light; this special Nun had shaped my sphere. The feeling she left me is strong; her driving force- my gift, lifelong.

Liar Liar Bum On Fire
Liar Liar Bum on Fire

How do I confess,
The lies I have told?
Which should I address,
Dare I be so bold?

The white lies,
I have told my share,
It will come as no surprise
Total truth I can not bare.

But what is the biggest,
The badest of them all?
My fourth grade spelling test?
The unanswered call?

Maybe it was the time
They asked how I was
I said just fine,
Isn’t that what everyone does?...

Blood, arms and shoes strewn everywhere.
22 lives just swept away,
on a normal fourth grade day.
A place to teach,
no one would dare.
Battle cries
released from hell,
as heaven’s angels
quickly fell,
to catch young spirit’s innocence
in slaughter foul that made no sense.
Lifting them to waiting arms
in which God’s love
defied all harm.

My Best Friend
i can’t choose one.

from the man who’s saved me from such a dark place in life, who’s filled it with so much light & happiness

to the girl who’s been by my side since fourth grade, never letting me doubt myself & always making me feel sane

to the woman who’s raised me, through all of my heartache, tears, & weak moments that has made me strong & persevering.

you can’t have one best friend when multiple people have touched you so deeply....

When I'm feeling a bit put down
And the best I can muster, is a pitiful frown
I hold in my hand a gift given me
By a special person,
I'm sure you'll agree
It's not much to most people
No, no value as such
But to me, just me,
It has always meant so much.
It was a simple thing it seemed
But thoughtful beyond measure
A Buck Eyed Chestnut from her tree
And to me a life's treasure.

I still have it ,

It's on my desk, Thank You B Shaw...

Angry Portland Vegans
they are green anarchist who listen
to national public radio along with
pseudo punk rock chick bands.

they are angry and i am pretty
 sure they killed jesus.

they have names like ryan and ashley
and in the fourth grade they kicked me
in the nuts and left me on the ground
 at recess.

these angry vegans also like to chew
on organic vanilla granola they buy
at the local new seasons store.
 going outside afterwards to
chain smoke and give me
dirty looks....
