when june was a little girl
her only hair had a curl
jeweler dad dismayed
a crown so sad displayed
so he fastened on a pearl.

The rickety bridge holds steady
underneath his bare dusky feet.
Un-sturdy but still fastened,
the darkling waters do waver.
He prays, then crosses over.

Speak softly babe as I incline my ear
to hear the rustlings of your loving thoughts
Draw me to your bosom and hold me dear
fastened to your heart like a Celtic Knot.

As he falls to the floor,

This was always how this story was going to end.

Artificial heart
Its batteries fastened to your belt
Be careful
Always have reserve batteries
In your pocket
Should you run out you have got
2 minutes
To find and replace
So do not fumble and lose them
On the floor.
There’s a well
in your meadow
only music can fill
It’s deeper
and wider
and calls to you still
With its bucket
overflowing
and rope fastened tight
Sweet melodies
waiting

A manuscript of gold,
Written in crimson nectar.
Are now fastened in tears so cold,
That even love silenced in freezing hell may stir.
For a manuscript of gold,
That never reached its crimson queen.
Will never be able to tell of a patron’s undying love.

In darkness
We struck a resounding chord
Making rhythms
As we march into the light
Now we come
But not to you
To plead for justice

And voice it home

The water

No light, no shadows

I've put the foil on my bedroom doorknob
and fastened rubber bands across the latch.
I've mixed Coca Cola with toothpaste and vaseline
then poured the rest of the coke in the toilet.
I've drunk warm water and a shot of olive oil.
I'm tired; the bananas will have to wait til morning.
