little june

when june was a little girl

her only hair was a curl

jeweler dad dismayed

a crown so sad displayed

so he fastened on a pearl.

Partners

Joy and Ride went for a spin
Round each bend, a wicked grin
Those seatbelts they weren't fastened in
The ones that stank of rum and gind

For Love

The old dog smiles with knackered eyes fastened
on the old friend he loves hard
to get up for but will

Still Holding Strong

The rickety bridge holds steady
underneath his bare dusky feet.
Un-sturdy but still fastened,
the darkling waters do waver.
He prays, then crosses over.

Rustlings Of Love

Speak softly babe as I incline my ear to hear the rustlings of your loving thoughts Draw me to your bosom and hold me dear fastened to your heart like a Celtic Knot.

Bite

Teeth fastened in his throat,
Claws buried in his side,
Blood gushes out of your mouth.
As he falls to the floor,
You pray he understands
You had no other choice.
This was always how this story was going to end.

Dancing

"Dance! Dance!"
he constantly told his dancers.
They danced morning,
afternoon, and evening.
So exhausted they were,
they died.
Now he keeps their bones
in his closet, fastened with strings
like marionettes...

Up There In Paradise

He took my hand to the other end of paradise
we told secrets to each other as we fastened
our eyes to the spingle songs of yesterday;
When the poetry stars descended
we began a kiss that never ended
up there, in paradise....

Twenty Minutes of Turbulence

TWENTY MINUTES OF TURBULENCE

seat belts fastened
tight

snack carts
jettisoned away

pilot on the talkie
nonsensical i say

the mobster clouds
take our jumbo jet

for a ride
we fly the turbulent skies

Electrification

Modern Times

Artificial heart
Its batteries fastened to your belt
Be careful
Always have reserve batteries
In your pocket
Should you run out you have got
2 minutes
To find and replace
So do not fumble and lose them
On the floor.

The Mousai

There’s a well
in your meadow
only music can fill

It’s deeper
and wider
and calls to you still

With its bucket
overflowing
and rope fastened tight

Sweet melodies
waiting
— to quench your delight

The Patron's Letter

A manuscript of gold,
Written in crimson nectar.
Are now fastened in tears so cold,
That even love silenced in freezing hell may stir.
For a manuscript of gold,
That never reached its crimson queen.
Will never be able to tell of a patron’s undying love.

Stilled Hope

After soliloquizing
In darkness
We struck a resounding chord
Making rhythms
As we march into the light
Now we come
But not to you
To plead for justice
Not to you
To stay your fastened arm
But to face you
And voice it home
That our hope is not dead.

A Love Paradox

Bitter and sweet
Bliss and misery
Are, all the things that you,
Inspire in me.
Your name gives my heart, just
A hot chill.
Until my fastened lips are able to,
Open and say “I love you”.
But alas my mind becomes delusional,
Unable to approach the being that is you.

Till Death Do Us Part

In a not-so-ideal wedding idyll, a homicidal, recent bride’ll get ideas, not be idle. When he shut-eyed, ill, then she sidled with a bridle, fastened idol, both hands tied, till in came tidal, claimed suicidal, got car title, left for Slidell.

Turmoil

Starlight
Like sequins on a
Dress

A gown of
Black
Across
The water

A blanket fastened
To unknown
No light, no shadows
In the blackness
Of the universe

No one will ever
Know
The secrets
In its depths

Night
Willing to be forgotten
Reminding us we’re alive

Exhausted, Ready for Bed

I've put the foil on my bedroom doorknob
and fastened rubber bands across the latch.
I've mixed Coca Cola with toothpaste and vaseline
then poured the rest of the coke in the toilet.
I've drunk warm water and a shot of olive oil.
I'm tired; the bananas will have to wait til morning.

1970's Fix

1970’s FIX

Tied, bound, cinched
Must-a-bin-bad

Fastened, secured, fixed
Must-a-bin-bad

Trussed, restrained, enslaved
Must-a-bin-bad

Strung, laced, affixed
Best lay still

Learn not fight it, else
It gets tighter

That Night Will Embrace Us

The grain of the wood,
fastened and softened
by time and breath;

these pebbles so smooth,
coated and left with
the silk of dead waves -

and you, all of you, your flesh
so awake to my longing, my touch,
are more beautiful yet

than all these reminders
that night will embrace us
and change us in time.

A Harvest of Choice

Floating in with a tune
Striking a melodious tone
Stirring, revving
A once scenery mind
Into a hat full
Of harvested choice

With each sounding pitch
Awaits a sure response
From the riding of feet
To a rising note
Crowned with a crested call
Running from a fastened passion
Echoing our own desires

Fearing Fratricide

Freddy filched Frankie’s fav’rit fudge,
fearless Frankie flattened Freddy to the floor.
Father Fletcher fearing fratricide
fastened Frankie’s feet
firmly to the farmyard fence while friends
fixed Freddy’s fractious frame
fast to the family Ford.

Stoic

Wey Wey - Stoic

After soliloquizing

in the darkness

we struck a chord

making rhythm

as we march into the light

now we come

we do not come to you

pleading for justice

we do not come

to stay your fastened arm

but we come

just to face you

and voice it home

that our hope is not lost
