1st Acrostic

Proper meaning puposefully placed
Over emphasis of time and space
Exaggeration of truth and some lies
Made to be brought to life by your eyes.

Caveat Spender

Caveat Spender
by Michael R. Burch

It’s better not to speculate
"continually" on who is great.
Though relentless awe’s
a Célèbre Cause,
please reserve some time for the contemplation
of the perils of
EXAGGERATION.

Mount of Price For Molehills

He set no limit to his ‘always’,
His ‘never’ was strewn all over ways,
Man of excess he was,
To blow up, his pet cause,
For molehills, mount of price he now pays.

You

You.. Were my words.....my thoughts...and dreams...
Condensed once ..to rain in my heart
Was u a mirage..dont know
You were an exaggeration of my emotions and
Thought....virtual...my trust in vain
And my heart in pain.
But i can bear this...and
Wait..for the next life

Excused

His stories were dubious:
brought up by wolves,
rode upon on the back of Great White
across the Atlantic.
Base-jumped off Mount Rainier
wearing only a jock-strap
in winter.
His pals would smile knowingly,
accepted his every wild exaggeration,
for after all
he was a poet.

I'Ve Got a Big Butt and I Cannot Lie

My butt is just so damn big
10 Irish men could do a jig
5 truckers could park their rig
16 Miners could plan a dig
9 drummers could perform a gig
2 Elephants could take a swig
22 college kids could do their trig
If only I’d eat less like a pig!

Exaggeration

Exaggerating
When you always speak
Bad about Africa
From morning to night
Forgeting  that it is the credle
Of humanity
Which means
Where all the races
Originate.
Or the grand mother of all the nations.
Insulting your grand mother daily
Does not erase the traces.

Love and Jealousy and Others Poetrix

Love does not exist
    without any jealousy..
  Exaggeration is the disease...

         Love
     is fleeting,
     but eternal
     while it lasts...

     In true love,
      we serve
   and we are served!

      Make love
   without loving...
    is a sinister lie... !

When the world shouts
With exaggeration
Desperate for validation
Falsehoods infused in a sham of sound
Quiet the clamoring lies of
Idolatry - when you
Speak truth to me

Intelligent Women

Do not fear intelligent women
When in love they happen to be such fools.
They would attend to your every demon
With dreams of a white gown of lace and tulle.

Been there, done that, wore those shoes, have that bruise.
Exaggeration played a silly trick.
"Got used to being yours and now I'm whose?"
Turns out I'm mediocre and not schick.

Colors

What if there were purples, and blues, and greens?

What if your daughter loved a pink, though she a tangerine?

What colors are more capable of awe and inspiration?

What greatness does life hold without exaggeration?

What courage can be shown without mixing up some colors?

What knowledge can we bestow without first understanding others?

Coffee Master

I am the greatest coffee drinker.

The best wide awake thinker.

I drink my java,

hotter than lava,

always black. I never tinker.

My Joe does not flow from a mug,

cause I down it from a gallon jug.

My coffee is the strongest,

and my buzz lasts the longest.

I hate to move slow, like a slug.

Waste Beliefs

You killed me on the nib of the pen
Where I sought the knowledge of peace

You killed me on the peak of roots
Where I founded the pillars of unity

You killed me on the scaffold of ego
When I opened my heart for all equally

Come on man!
What do you want in my death?

Nothing that is;
Just an exaggeration of your egoistic beliefs!

Another word for exaggeration is hyperbole
One word is fine, so why did we need two?
I don’t know, seems utterly redundant to me
Not being an etymologist, I haven’t a clue.

One for common folks, the other for the elite?
Seems someone couldn’t agree, and that’s fine,
I’ll settle for exaggeration, a word that’s neat
Hyperbole ... if I’m trying to show my behind.

Baked Potato

To cook a baked potato
You need lots and lots of time –
Enough to write a longer poem
Than this, and all in rhyme.

Mitch Hedberg,* in his deadpan way,
Joked with exaggeration –
Toss a spud into the oven and
Just go off on vacation.

He may be right – I baked one,
Eighty minutes by the clock,
But my husband took a bite and it
Was harder than a rock!

My Friend

WHEN OTHERS THINK
EXAGGERATION, YOU SEE ITS
MY IMAGINATION.
INSTEAD OF SUPPORT, i GOT
SEPERATION, YOU STEPPED UP
INTO MY DESPERATION.
AS MY SOUL WRITHED IN
HURT AND PAIN, YOU BEAMED
SUNSHINE THRU THE RAIN.
WHEN I WAS ISOLATED, SO
UTERLY ALONE, IT WAS
ALWAYS YOU RINGING MY
PHONE.
AND WHEN I FELT MY LIFE
WAS AT WITS END, I
ROUNDED THE BEND~AND
THERE AGAIN, ITS YOU, MY
FRIEND.

Premium Member Down Under

Swathed in shadows deep
she looked up
   from her far below
     of down under
   seemingly afloat
hesitating at the bottom
   of the long staircase.

Only a faint outline
of her oval face perceptible,
framing dark eyes
   opened wide hugely round
pupils expanded
   like an exaggeration
   a caricature drawn...

The doorway to her soul
   open wide
revealing a pathos
   deeper than hell.
