Baked Potato

To cook a baked potato You need lots and lots of time – Enough to write a longer poem Than this, and all in rhyme. Mitch Hedberg,* in his deadpan way, Joked with exaggeration – Toss a spud into the oven and Just go off on vacation. He may be right – I baked one, Eighty minutes by the clock, But my husband took a bite and it Was harder than a rock! *one of my favorite comedians

80 minutes to oven bake a potato??? I wrap it in aluminum foil in 450° oven, it's done in less than an hour. Or I rub it with olive oil for a crispy peel. / M

Great idea about tossing a potato in the oven and going off on a vacation -- DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! lol. :) gw

I tend to just microwave them these days, love jacket potatoes especially sweet ones.. but nothing beats the smell and taste of one done in the embers of a bonfire like we used to do on bonfire night when I was small:-) hugs Jan xx

Well caught and scribed! Now plan your next trip to Eire, where there is a plethora of techniques of any and every way possible to transform a potato into something edible (or potable)! Aloha! Rico

You'd think somebody would have invented a 3-minute microwave just for potatoes... how fun that you would reference a fave comedian's bit in your little spud ode. Of course, vacations these days amount to a walk around the park!

Another fine example of your taking an ordinary subject and developing it into great wit! Thanks for your kind comment on the Clutter write. Our place looks like a museum with stuff accumulated over the years. My 2 daughters have no room for the stuff and I suspect Goodwill would have to expand if I tried to slough it off on them!
