while resting on the comfort
of sand below.

The clouds in the horizon
join as one,
as seagulls chant
in rays from the sun.

When the evening star sets,
the birds soar away,
as the overcast darkens
until the next day....

Who labor seek surcease from weariness.

A mess.

And so I sit with promises to keep,

At last the exit home—to eat, to sleep,

From a clear lake beside its base
It soared up where eagles don’t dare.
My climb was steep; I did not care.
I reached the peak, edging blue space.
