Mind
Clocking is cloaking my plans,
Chasing me to drive home to
             unfurl my modus operandi,
Cramming my mind but the hazy thoughts,
Leaving me at length in the lurch !!...

Watch this Hispanic street punk
Furiously drive home his prayer
Frowning and sweating Latin funk
While the blond hippie shakes down her hair...

Lost In the Mountains
Long drive home
Lost in the mountains
Everyone in the car is irritable
But I don't mind.
I wish they'd drop me off
On the side of the road
So I could watch the rain
Coming in over the smokey hills...

So stately behind the wheel
That old Cortina could have been a Rolls
The engine chugged
To the beat of your heart
Slow and steady
Making the drive home last
Captain of your ship
For five peaceful minutes...

Wake Up
Wake Up,
Start the day.
Wake Up,
Go to work.
Wake Up,
Take a break.
Wake Up,
Drive home.
Wake Up,
Eat.
Wake Up,
Relax.
Wake Up,
Go to bed.
Wake Up,
Sleep.
Wake Up,
Dream of you.

Suzette, alas,so drunk at the bar.
Decided to drive home in her car
        Oops, ran over a skunk.
        Heavens it really stunk.
Out of her car, she studied stars.

Cat Chase
Work done,
tired ton,

Drive home,
street zone,

Cat chase,
rat race,

Pull up,
hit bump,

Dead cat?
No rat,

Cat gone,
not long,

Cat hides,
on side,

Cat waits,
for bait,

Pass bush,
ambush!

Thump, thump,
heart pumps!

Dog Dreams
my dog dreams of me
in her dreams I am much younger
more active

we tramp green hills
chase rabbits
tracking down
both the fresh and funky

I then drive home
while she nodes off
on the back seat

it was during one of her naps
that I woke up as an old man...

My Dog Dreams
my dog dreams of me
in her dreams I am much younger
more active

we tramp around
climbing
roaming into great smells
chase rabbits

then she allows me
to drive home
while she naps
on the back seat

it was during one of her naps
that I woke up
in her head...

After Karaoke
music lingers
streetlights
shine stars
man and woman
sleeping in shadows
the library’s closed
an intimate voice
on the radio
as I drive home
midnight
the spell is cast
midnight
as I drive home
on the radio
an intimate voice
the library’s closed
sleeping in shadows

Renewal
The drive home is short, but feels like a maze.

I grasp my keys, feeling as if they will melt in my hands.

The door is still locked.

My hands are shaking inconsolably.

While she was not revived-

She has been renewed.

I drop the keys-

And am stricken by the sound.

I feel like a monster.

But I am simply an observer in this life....

Premium Member Fix
I can fix this
But I can't fix you
Being too near you
For too long
Unfixes me

But standing by
Knowing
You are broken
Breaks me
In two

Then I feel
Too much to bear
Reliving chaos
Knowing it's been
Constant for you

Place you
On an even keel
Aware
It will last shorter
Than my drive home

Thinking hard
What will make
The change
This time
Nothing springs to mind...

Last Call
Last call, last call, my friend. This is another night at an end. The beer, wine, and whiskey have to stop their flow. It is almost time to close and we have to go. I hope for tonight, you have enjoyed yourself. Now we have to leave the bottles of hooch on the shelf. You were someone we were so happy to serve and see. Now we have to ask you to drive home carefully.

Premium Member A Winter's Eve Drive Home
The snow
covered ground
accentuated chameleon
leaves quietly hanging
from stoic branches
of proud trees piercing
chilling spaces
of the coming eve.

Above in the cold
silhouetted sky
the coming full moon
briefly peeked out
before the slow passing
of dark veiling clouds.

Below, a snaking trail
of red lights
made their slow crawl
across this winter canvas
of nature’s brush....

Premium Member A New View
Every day I drive home
The mountain offers a new view
It changes but remains sturdy and strong
Its shades of different colors
Are like moods radiating through the sky
Always casting beauty through the seasons
Its stillness reminds me to be still
Its offering of blessings are never missed
It teaches me along my way
As I always anticipate it around the corner
                 Each day

The Drive Home
I tuck your hair behind your ears,
close my eyes and fall asleep.
I dream of the beach at night,
but your not there, just the stars and me.
I wake up when you move,
get out of bed and get dressed.
I kiss your head then I'm gone.
The drive home is my favorite part of the night.
Everything smells good and I'm wide awake.
I turn up all the stupid songs that play on the radio.
Get a little sad,
when I'm almost home....

The World Is My Stage
The World is my Stage

Take to the Stage
With a venemous rage
Like a mad man caged
So you can drive home your rhetoric
Till the crowd feel electric
Watched by the masses these intolerable Asses
Preach from glass house’s
While their wives wear their trousers
So they can stand on a podium
Instil pandemonium
As they spin you a lie with a glint in their eye
About the world they have created
That is shrouded in hatred...

Evasion
We came down from an evening
hill walk
made coffee
on the two ring cabin stove.

She said she was weary.
I said I was weary.
Wearily we sat there in silence
a strange discontent creeping
across the floor rugs
as the sun began to sink.

“Is it too late to drive home” you asked.
I thought about the long drive in the dark.
“No” I replied thickly.

When two drive into tomorrow
you never know what unspoken words
are left behind....
