So stately behind the wheel That old Cortina could have been a Rolls The engine chugged To the beat of your heart Slow and steady Making the drive home last Captain of your ship For five peaceful minutes

I am racing to Google now to look up Cortina. How have I lived this many years without consciously hearing about them?

Not many sold in the U.S. Caren, but they were big in the U.K. and Ireland.

An enjoyable ride in a stately vehicle nicely described, Sharon!

Thanks for the introduction to the Cortina. Looking at pictures of it online, it certainly had a stately, if slow, elegance to it. Happiness and health, Gershon

And all good wishes to you, Gershon. Those cars look better to me now, at a distance of several decades, than they did in their heyday.

Hello Sharon Keely, this sounds to me like an antique car. A Rolls is antique. Enjoy your day my friend.

Hello Sharon I have always liked antique cars dating back 1930's to the early 40's. I am always drawn to them. Thes are beautiful cars. I also like the two tones cars. Enjoy your day my friend.

Hi Darlene, I hope you have a lovely day too. The Cortina, an offering from Ford in the U.K. in the '60's and 70's, would certainly be an antique by now!
