Colin Powell Horn Haiku
Colin Powell Horn Haiku

One was wise old owl
I had thought of Colin Powell
My face has a scowl.

Have lost my respect
Criticism did detect
Can't be more direct.

Seems like politics
Of trade full of many tricks
Off me always ticks.

What do you think of that one?

A Response To Broken Back
This is a poetic response to Colin Mitchell Williams's poem, Broken Back.

The opiate for the
Mass.

A promised rebirth
Sapped the
Life
Breath
From
Beggars and Kings alike.

She died once again
And will
Continue
Dying

Death
No fiend

Romanticism,
Ibuprofen for
Broken
Backs...

Premium Member Bows and Stilettos
I am in love with Colin Firth.

My friends snicker with such mirth.

Even watching the dear man stammer

Makes my heart start to hammer.

If an oscar he doesn't receive,

As he deserves, I believe,

I would be most happy to supply

A consolation prize for the guy.

Wrapping myself in a couple bows

And maybe a pair of stilettos....

When I Was Young and Easy
WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND EASY

When I was young and easy
Lying naked with her on a summer’s day
Hidden among swaying corn
Whispering our promises of love.

There were no thoughts but of my lover
With heart rejoicing hearing her voice
Making the soul tremble, giving life reason
Every kiss a giddy taste of wine.

Premium Member Dinosaurs Are Not Extinct, One Lives In My House (For Colin)
A contemporary creature,
this Tyrannosaurus Rex is not a carnivore.
He delights in gnashing peanut butter sandwiches
and his habitat is lush
with rocks and bugs and toys
And if I dare suggest he is a little boy--
his mighty roar is deafening.
Its echo captures ancient pains
that live in mother's heart
And for a moment
renders them extinct,
as joy tears them apart....

First Black American Secretary of State, COLIN POWELL, (1937-2021)
Served in the G. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter administrations,
He said, “Success is the result of hard work…and learning from failure,”
His hobby was restoring old cars; hardly knew the meaning of vacations.

Uneducated
Mind limited by my own being in past events,
Uneducated in the reading.
How can I be reached?
Poetry's ears are difficult in the gaining.
O' Lord I fear to miss beauty in the fineness.
Than Goodness from Beyond,
Given Ears of Yours,
Not to pass the journey of fine wine art,
The poetry of true remain.
In this I plead,
Colin Martin bless him in all ways of the pen.

(Enjoyed your writings Colin, they opened me up dearly my friend of poetry)...

Premium Member Steppin' Out
I saw a pal of mine in town
all dressed up to the nines,
hours of preparation and
the result was divine.
Crop top, Denim miniskirt
jet black killer heels,
feet at forty-five degrees
God knows how that must feel.
Sashay past the building site
wolf whistles and remarks,
they all got no acknowledgement,
reaction? Not a spark.
Cool, aloof, just striding on
the pace really unhurried
I honestly do have to say that
Colin- you've got me worried....

To a Good Friend of Mine
Your words trick my mind,
and propel my thought.
Two friends in a poetic bind,
drinking the coffee we just bought.

You have been a great inspiration to me,
weather you think so or not.
What you write sets my mind free,
from what the chaotic world has been tought.

We both see the con's in this life's wild ride,
but we can also talk of it's glorious sect.
I hope to keep you friend, by my side,
you truly hold, my deepest respect.

For Colin...
