Friends
Dorky

Geeky

Stinky

Sneaky

My school friends were dorky, geeky, game
but they were quite stinky, sneaky, lame.

Oh time,

My once trusted childhood friend,

It is so difficult for me to accept the fact

That with the passing of years

You have turned into

A vengeful foe!

His Rain Songs

(inspired by Stephen Kilmer's poem, Rain Songs)

Was glad you came back, my
childhood friend from Nam.

Look at the friends of the dead;
they cry when it rains.

My friend flinches, cries, or shouts.
Forever nightmares.

The dead are resting now....

man and woman, earlier boy and girl
take a walk in the park
enlivened by the chirpy song of a lark
behold pure joy unfurl

childlike innocence frolics with delight
agendaless exuberance prevails
in the void, both lift soul’s sails
as they so embark on a wingless flight...

My Childhood Friend
Together we built castles from sand.
I was the princess.
You, always my prince.
We would always pretend.
You used to chase me around the trees,
until I became dizzy, and I couldn't breathe.
We played hide and seek,
Sometimes I even let you take a peek.
We was always such sneaks....

Exuberant Friendship
My ardent faith in you leading me to your divine pond where I will flap my tiny hands and swim with you to the other shore.

streaks of pleasure rose
as the swimming lesson grows -
swan and little boy

Memory of Cory
The passion of the soul
 there is no stronger force
 that surges through our veins
 alive in breathless winds
 and gentle seas
 the spirit soars
 never resting..
but living strong within our hearts

For the passing of a young man passionate for life, sea and surf...
and my son's childhood friend......

Yellow
Slightest wind makes you vibrant
dance as if the sun was your lover
Every other being moving without hesitation
still, you are the most free spirited
All your hands wave at me
as if i were a childhood friend
Easily how sickness is seen
yellow is the color
shows to me you are dying
No longer you are my brother...

Premium Member Laughing With a Lifelong Friend
Out conversations are notorious.
Our loud laughter is uproarious.
Our explosions of mirth are furious.
Other diners smile. Some look curious.

This what it is like with a childhood friend.
Pure happiness does not readily end.
When we are together, all dour descends.
We are flexible and find, as lovely knee bends....

Time Spent With Diane
Time Spent With Diane

Like traversing tracks
And jumping the cracks
My time
Spent with Diane

Like jumping some ropes
And sledding down slopes
My time
Spent with Diane

Like skipping some stones
And eating snow cones
My time
Spent with Diane

Like a childhood friend
That never will end
My time
Spent with Diane...

Fluke
Swift as air, the jet took me back.....
to my roots.
The pre-Thanksgiving fares to Philly sucked me in,
like mom's Hoover vacuum.
And Lady Luck, her diamonds catching the rays of a thousand moonlit nights,
held my hand,
when I stayed with an old childhood friend.
Together we walked the fields near the murky river,
and lamented what never became....

Summer Heat Wave
I remember where the sidewalk ended
Next to where the old fan palm grew
That waved its many hands at me
As I walked home from school each day
And of course I always waved politely back

In childhood anything can be befriended
But even as a kid I knew
That wind, not wonder, moved the tree
Yet I named it Summer Heat Wave
And of course I still wave politely back....

Friends
Souls surface, scared and torn.
Fearful child, you were so wise.
Too precious for this filth,
Though every diamond came from muck.

Sadistic friend, your corruption
Knows no limits.
He who mocks with such venom
Poisons his own heart.

Crippled breath, you run here
In these veins,
A black opium, oh hidden puppeteer!

I suppose you have forgotten me

By now....

Paulette - 1
I've a childhood friend I cannot forget.
Since first grade, I've known Paulette.
I haven't heard from her in some time,
and both of us are well past our prime.
I called to see how she was doing,
and right off she started boo-hooing.
I was sorry to learn her health is bad.
Poor Paulette, sounded terribly sad.

Childhood Crush
He looked longingly at her
As a child would a candy bar
She had turned into a model
His childhood friend
Her world was topsy turvy
With razzmatazz
While his was without all the jazz
Her lotus shaped eyes he was in love with
That gazed on him in playful light
While to another blew a kiss in flight
Would he be able to capture her fluttering heart he thought
In the end decided the candy would be best if never bought....

Doll Story Ld
Cinnamon, my childhood doll,
I barely thought of you at all -
of where you went,
or how, or when,
but I was only little then.

Now I'm crying, lost in time:
layered under years of grime,
you sit quite still
upon the shelf
and I am back inside myself.

The antique market fades away:
I reach for you amidst the fray.
My Cinnamon,
my childhood friend,
our story wasn't meant to end.

"Puff the magic dragon, lived by the sea", Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow

His name was Jackson Paper.
Forgotten by history,
disappearing like a vapor,
he was born near Honalee.

He became successful enough,
but forgot his childhood friend.
Years later, in a smoky puff,
he met a fiery end.

Happy Ending

While, Jackson, ol' Puff did destroy,
in his place, a younger male
heard, "long time no see, Jackie boy,
time for us to set sail"....

I'm a white dude, she's a black woman.
We have known each other since we were children,
and as I caressed her soft dark chocolate skin,
my childhood friend turned to me and said the following;
"You are like a brother to me, this can't continue happening."
"Are you saying," I asked, "not to make love to you like a black man?"
"Not that kind of 'brother," she smirked, "you gorgeous moron."
She is beauty with brains, I'm just the pretty one.
I know when my looks go, I'm doomed, done....

Childhood Friend
A quiet little creek trickles
as I place my feet,
feel the earths bueaty,
as buetiful,
as a heart beat.

Mesmorised, entranced
by your gentle flow,
I know I have to leave
but your strains
hold me so.

Will you forever,
be tranquil,still,
for my heart tells me
you have big rivers to fill.

I sit here now
at my journeys end
and look deep into
my childhood friend,
I wonder how close
our pathes have crossed
but know, the innocence
of our youth,
was our gain
not our loss....

Memories sway away
Like calendar is torn off
Page by page
Day by day
But
Memories can be recycle
Till fresh and complete
Not torn like the calendar forever
A day off from the calendar you feel sad
Because you're losing some more time
But a pinch from the memories
You feel happy
Because you are gaining back
Some time from the past
Whenever I remember her
As though she is still alive
And we are playing hide and seek
Under a big banyan tree
During happy childhood
