I've a childhood friend I cannot forget.
Since first grade, I've known Paulette.
I haven't heard from her in some time,
and both of us are well past our prime.
I called to see how she was doing,
and right off she started boo-hooing.
I was sorry to learn her health is bad.

That gazed on him in playful light

I barely thought of you at all -
of where you went,
or how, or when,
but I was only little then.

Now I'm crying, lost in time:
layered under years of grime,
you sit quite still
upon the shelf
and I am back inside myself. 

The antique market fades away:
