A blue marbled sky,
High morn' moon,
Roosters crowing
and chatting chicks,
Listening to cogs
Falling in clicks.
spring's living winds breathe
a stroke of cordial welcome
chicks nestle blue eggs

We do things row by row,
We'll do housework at the end of this row,
We said that several hours ago!

Eating worms so wild

big feet pretty fun feathers;
twirl, stumble, fall la la la,

To set down our phones,
constant companions,
and gaze up at the tree
to watch the robins feed their chicks —
such an exotic request.

For all us chicks and chappies,
Thank God for each day,

Chicks, of the palest glow
Hazel eyes
Addictive aroma
That invaluable smile
I wish I could say

how chicks grow in morning sun
a peck of wise hearts

one thousand tiny new chicks
willing hands save them
based on newspaper story over the weekend

Scared chicks scatter to hide, but no mother on ground.

silly mourning doves
flit from roof to tree to roof -
hopping and dancing
matching move for move
under the warm, bright spring sun ~
chicks hatch in a month
young chicks
become
old hens
young cocks
become
old dreamers
remembering
cock-a-doodle-doo
cock-a-doodle-doo
while the hens cluck
in their sweet dreams
(to be read to the tune of Papa was a rolling stone)
Papa was a rolling egg
Wherever he laid a hen chicks were made
And when he flied-
The coop you know was left undone.
Mountains are in bloom;
Spring flowers flutter in breeze
This year's lambs are born.
On rugged mountain
Eagle's hungry chicks are hatched
Small creatures are prey
Well, the farm had a pretty rough night;
it seems chickens are not very bright.
Bandit raccoons broke in,
killed some chicks and a hen,
and the other chicks all died of fright.

A farmer was in Little Rock
To sell all his chicks and a cock,
He had scars on his neck
Where the critters would peck,
And feathers stuffed inside his sock!
