It is too distressing to show an actual picture of over 1000 newborn chicks which were recently found abandoned in a field in Peterborough in the UK.

Thanks Chuck - they put them into huge boxes to keep them warm - poor wee things - sadly some did not survive:-( hugs Jan xx

I can't understand the mentality of the person who did this - my original avatar was of a fluffy pink chick I was sent as a gift by an online friend:-( hugs jan xx

..such cruelty i will never understand. its good that someone found them and went public so hopefully answers will be found. baby chicks have a scent as unique as babies, we used to keep the wee one's under a heat lamp to keep them warm :-) a wonderful heart you have jan to bring attention to this.:-) blessings, lynn

I just read below that some were already dead. That indeed is very sad, Jan. They now have a law in Utah that people may not abuse animals or they will get put in prison!(stricter law than before)

I hope they can get to the bottom of the story James ... i wonder if the farm is infected with avian flu and they were actually trying to prevent these little ones from being culled - i am sure the truth will be found out one day:-) hugs Jan xx

I couldn't believe it when I saw the news Ilene they were just dumped in a field... how could anyone be so cruel and why did it happen? Helpers managed to save many by putting them into large boxes but sadly some didn't make it:-( hugs Jan xx

My father had a smallholding and we used to keep over 100 chickens - it must be a commercial organisation with issues to abandon over 1000 day old chicks :-( hugs Jan xx

The RSPCA are looking into where they came from - some of the chicks were already dead :-( its so sad why someone would do something so cruel I hope they are punished for this act:-( hugs Jan xx
