Confused Dachshund

There's a dachshund from Key Biscay
saving ice cubes for a sweltery day
He buries them deep
hoping they'll keep
and wonders how they get away

Blizzard In the Himalayas -- Revised

The wind howls across
Heavy snow buries the world
and then deep silence

I liked this better:

screeching wind, death sings
heavy snow buries, survive
a deep silence mourns

Drat

Drat!
To the obscuring daylight,
That buries the stars;
Devalues the character of the moon;
And most of all,
Blinds my eyes,
To the essence of your candlelight beauty.
Drat, I say.
Drat!

Beef Republic

the republic rears beef cattle
feeds so well dairy ones
and calves are so fat
slaughters them often
but does not sell
does not eat any
does not export anyway
buries carcasses
in hot refrigerators

Pass Away - Haiku - Tanka

The dead that now know
God's move in ~predestined~ wind
Sift through the free grass.

You must be longer
in there than I am this staid.
Above you, to leave
Where distant dogs bark, since then
My fallen soul buries rest.

Darkness the Cannibal

A breakfast of sunrise,
clear blue sky luncheon,
and a supper of sunset
defeats darkness rising.

Shadows remain behind,
lying down buries their existence.

Total darkness is a cannibal
that feed on lighter shade shadows.

The Truth

Time will out last life
Life will out last love
Love will out last hatred
Hatred turn into envy
Envy turn your heart black and bold
When you sell your soul
Buries will heal in time
Time make love seems forever
But pain will never die!

Bury Me

Threnody dirges miseries
Severance of machinations
The gravedigger’s shovel buries
These coffin crypt lamentations
Lachrymose welts filling levees
Life’s vile xenotransplantations
Psychopomp as a wraith’s whisper
Dust swept away by a zephyr

Early July Standard Contest: Unsung Pal

Soft and round,
stuffed with cotton,
Muffles my giggles,
Suppresses my sobs.
Buries my feelings,
Carries my throbs.
You feel my heartbeat.
You swallow my tears.
I fill you whole
with all my fears
You assuage my bellows
my dear pillow....

Rook Moves In

grey
squirrel
busily
buries acorns
keenly observed by shrewd ravenous rook.
rook swoops in, pillaging hidden treasures,
jewels shattered
on roof tops;
oak tree
groans.

October Sky

Chilled Leaves

My bones are exposed

As winds undress the texture

Clinging to wool skin

I find no haven at morn,

When fall buries my ribs deep

Pit Vipers

Hiding in their basement caves,
the ‘journalists’ deride

The light of facts and truth cast dim,
a downward fatal slide

Where once out in the open,
clear vision far and wide

Credibility buries deep
—their fear a den of lies

Determination

Hanging on
A thin bending stem
A little bumblebee
Refuses to fall.

Wind blows stronger,
Even tighter he clings,
Determined not to lose.

Tenacity is rewarded
As he buries his head
Within the crimson heart
Of a delicate rose
And extracts
The sweetest
Richest, golden nectar.

Hydrologic Cycle

Ice forms new land.
Water is a gentle hand.
Snow buries the dead.
Rain rebirths life ahead.
Clouds house spirits and souls.
Hail falls, heightening the tolls.
Creeks carry the weak.
Rivers bring life to the peak.
Lakes hold waters so old.
Seas claim lives they stole.
Oceans preserve origins of life.

Hopeful Sound

We’re lucky to have survived each other,
  in the aftermath of love

Those promises made as leaves they fell,
from a height so far above

The seasons changed, a pledge reclaimed,
  buries deep within the ground

Waiting for Spring, its first robin to sing
—a new song of hopeful sound

A World of His Own

The boy sidles to the wall
Slides to the ground
Buries his head under his folded arms
Why are they doing this to him?
The laughter gets louder and louder.
He is now in the fetal position.
What is happening? Asks his mother.
The therapist has no idea.
He does not speak.
He is in a world of his own
Where everyone is laughing
At him

Emotions

Love is what Keeps me going,
Rage is what Fuels me day to day,
The pain that keeps on growing,
Is implanted in me and it will not sway.
Emotions is what control me,
if only I can keep it in,
But when I do, it blows up in my face,
Buries who I am.
But the fight is on
to control it deep.
When I do emotions
will not be filled with me.

Scavengers

SCAVENGERS

The night sun buries his face to earth,
Slowly suspending his daily harvest -
Piles of colour and heaps of brightness
In oast house and warm barn.

Rays of darkness
Speed across the twilight
Sky, steal into small corners of the loft,
Scavengers ransacking the day.
Greens devoured by omnivores;
Nothing left but black.

Fear

FEAR

You know it’s a risky thing to do . . .

Fear rears up from below and grabs your guts
Stomach wants to retch
Throat dries like a cloudless desert
Legs are gripped and won’t move

You rebel and set yourself to do it anyway -
The moment the fear feels your decision
It buries itself back in the land of cowards
Where it rules supreme

The Mercy of Time

How it heals the wound,
and buries the pain.
Souls brought together,
to stand in the rain.

The long list of love,
like the wool that's shorn.
All fall to the ground,
For silence to mourn.

Left are memories,
a face, and a name.
This is the matrix,
of the ancient game.

Long has been the fight,
they call the morning light.
