Shooting Smiles
A black
room filled strangers

black air
the only visible sense

hands holding guns
blowing through
hearts

smiles behind
smoked barrels

bodies drop
as bullets soar...

The Old Fisherman Got a New Truck
The Old Fisherman got a new truck.

A cranberry Chevy.

The people who sell his face

gave it to him.

It replaces the old Ford

with wood side panels

Ale Sale
There was an old lag* at my sale,
Who drank all the barrels of ale,
As the beer was sublime,
He confessed to a crime,
And puked on returning to jail.

Pundits Of Ruin
Do nothings
wth tenure
poseurs sublime

Their barrels
sit empty
coated
with lime

The space
they take up
much better off
closed

For those
they have
poisoned

Jars
Flasks and drums
Vases and urns
Barrels for holding pickles

Bowls and cups
Pots and pans
Piggy banks for nickles

Beakers, pitchers
Bottles for milk
Mere vessels for the rookies!

For no container
In the world
Can beat my jar of cookies!...

A Job
A Job
I work designing guns
Never out of a job
Quite creative work
Firing pins to mags
Via handles and barrels
Art via a lathe
My mind and hands
Always at work
Like the hitmen

Over-Speeding
my pickup furiously barrels down

and right up the highway crest,

zooming faster

as the dial needle glides downward

to the far right side of my

speedometer;

yeah, over-speeding gives me a sense

of at least going somewhere,

makes me feel better !...

The carolers came out of barns, sheds, houses, and out from under rocks.
They climbed out of baskets, boxes, barrels, and striped Christmas socks.
They came running to sing, and they made the prettiest sound of all.
But the audience began running away when we gave the mouse call....

Pipe-Dream
feeling rushes through this pipe-dream
gushing like the leak in Louisiana
leaking barrels and barrels of me
killing what surrounds as it bleeds

there is no fixing this enormous spill
it spews too fast, with its own will
Haliburton can't control the danger
my heart the only thing endangered...

Premium Member The Feisty Ocean
Like a freight train
She barrels in
And slams upon the shore
Bringing all her treasured gifts
Up from the ocean floor
Randomly choosing
she makes a deposit
As if purging her depths
Or cleaning her closet
Then passively leaves
The feisty debater
Will reclaim her trove
When she returns later...

Grocery Poem Xv
mosquito candles light the table on my porch
they sit alight in their little chrome saucers
each one trembles at an exhale of smoke,
dancing gracefully out of the way

this all seems incredibly natural to me.
I dance the same way when a mother
with four kids barrels down aisle three
racing to get to the cereal...

Pictures of Crabs
On raised thorny stilts
Marbled lampposts, lifted eyes
Clawed leaves for soft filth

The spider grown fat,
And hard, and round, and callous
Like hogs, blinds the sand

I know my species
The same purpose fits the flies
The outer shell lies

Barrels hiss with us
Clambering to scuttle time
Gravity's dead claw...

Cold huddled sparrows
Wear that WTF look
A squirrel drags his tail
Through icy puddles
A rat hunkers down
Behind the barrels
Worms wiggle dance
In November’s no-fly zone
A wet Owl whispers “Phew”
School bus children
Defy the rain drops
A grouchy dog waits
For the mailman
An old woman’s scowl
Frightens the wind

Premium Member Bugs N' Barrels
When the bugs in the bottom of a barrel of mash
consume all of the sugar and puke out all of that alcohol,
their civilization dies;
not because they consumed too much sugar
or puked up too much alcohol,
but because they multiplied far beyond
the ability of the barrel to sustain them.
Finding another barrel
doesn't solve anything....

After Sunshine
Be my soul in outrageous
sunshine of knowledge.
I need a shade of tears.

The barrels were still smoking
after the war.
I will not wake up in morning.

Lightless the day will mourn
for the fallen moon
on the breast of a hill.

Tear down the curtain.
Let me sea the face of death.
I have a long debt to pay.

A Religious Affair
Turrets are turning,
behind the tanks
exhausts are farting death clouds,
barrels, like angry dicks,
are hot, erect and spurting,
buildings erupt, climaxing
on TV screens.

On both sides of these yonder hill
where the redline bleeds,
blank-eyed children,
play their video games,
while trying to overhear
a merciful God at His prayers....
