sixty-fourth birthday

*will you still love me when. . ."
AU REVOIR
he dusted the album-
a memory of love
trickled down his cheek

he dusted the album-
a memory of love
trickled his face
NOTE-HI-KU is any English language variation on the Japanese haiku
dry tree branch sways
autumn leaf clings
the last
leaf through photo album
memories of friend persist
Neil Diamond said it is easier for me to sing I love you than to say it
He said it with The Christmas Album 1992, and we all felt it
A jazz album whispers
false hopes arise
the bravado of lionhearts descend
only to be
swiftly rebuked
by insolence and apathy
So,
if you
like to play
music while you
make love; choose
a live album – you’re
guaranteed to get some
applause every five minutes
The only sane response
Is chainsmoking
Drinking gallons of coffee
Listening to album after album
Time drags on
In this backwards reality
Agile nostalgic time traveler retrieves
Reminiscence framing snapshots of mirage life,
Tucks deserted dream collage in album.
He looked at their photos -
so many had gone;
and soon he would join them
(it wouldn't be long...)

Uranus, arsenal and album
All three refer to our rear chasm
Sometimes smelly
Like a goat's underbelly
But often causing painful spasms
Uranus, arsenal and album
All three referring to our rear chasm
Sometimes smelly
Like a goat's underbelly
But often causing painful spasms
Uranus, arsenal and album
All three referring to our rear chasm
Sometimes smelly
Like a goat's underbelly
But often causing painful spasms
Music that touches the soul
That makes one’s aura glow
For sure this I know
As his voice makes me whoa
From lyrics I watch sow
The next album is always a go
photos in album
camera snapped long ago
eye snaps memories
Through the lens of a lifetime
Moments captured
Who we are
Who we were
Warm memories
Colors softened by time
Infinitely archived
In the album
Of our heart
black and white photos
with no black
they're blank
i blinked
and banked
my book
would not
be a
blanc album
record
of a full life
we never lived
flowers
beginning to bloom
completion
springtime
hat thrown in air
graduate
time
ticking of clock
fifty years
pictures
album open
past memories
the road
well traveled
worn path
watching wild geese drift,
old lady on porch sips tea
as nightfall grows pale...

5 Lines Max Contest for Rick Parise
I’ve been a pirate on black seas,
Explorer where the oceans freeze,
A monarch on an opaled throne,
An islander with rings of bone—
Inside the “British Colonies” thick section
Of my boyhood stamp collection.
i must admit
its a bit strange to read
that bert jansch in his time
recorded an entire album
on the fly in a guitar shop
today we need at least
six square meters mixing consoles
- to hum a little tune
I just recall my
College love life
When a girl answer
My love in a tissue paper.
I treasure that moment
And that tissue paper
I keep it laminated
Until today, i just hid it
In my memory
And my secret album.
ARTIST NATURE
Pretty patterns painted and drawn.
Promise of crimson sunrise at dawn.
Colourful sketches in bright twilight
shown on sky album in delight.
Artist Nature to dream and yawn.
A picture perfect of white muses on the toes of time
Ephemeral youthful grace surrounded by the darkest background
A dusty album closed and saved for other curious eyes...
for Rick Parise's Contest " May I Have This Sijo Dance"
Listen to poem:
Gifts of a long life,
Graces an abandoned beach,
Emptied shells and vanished droves,
Gifts I made myself,
Faces, an album that stretch,
Empty shelves and vessel dreams.
