Shimmying Poems

Premium MemberDancing To The Stones

I love to dance to the music of The Rolling Stones,
one of the longest-running rock bands since the sixties.
The band’s music is raw with energetic blend of blues,
rhythm and blues, rock and roll and baroque rock or pop.

Slow dancing to the ballads of Angie and Wild Horses
let me bring out the emotional depth of the melody
and lyrics through emotive flow and applying Tango
improvisation to Paint It Black with its unique sound.

Fusion dancing to Ruby Tuesday, a baroque pop and
You Can’t Always Get What You Want, a rock with slow
ballad like tempo to fast, to create contrasting styles and
freestyle dancing by mixing various genres to Under My Thumb.

Swinging, jiving, rocking, strutting, like Mick’s strut and
shimmying to Tumbling Dice and Honky Tonk Women.
Dave, the pianist and vocalist of a two men band plays
The Stones songs for me and calls me The Stones Girl.

Premium MemberThe Sound Of Inner Peace

Like the hush of mobile crystals
stilling, inside a breezeless night
Like the echoes of distant stars
shimmying towards the moon

Its like tendrils of gray smoke
wafting through the temples
A silent Buddha contemplating
beneath the Bodhi tree of life

Inner peace can only be realized
through the senses and the chi
You can only hear its splendor
when your sitting on God's knee.

Mini mangy monster Marvin moo
Nearly never noticed anything new
Outrageously outgoing onset overdue
Plunking his plush posterior on a pew
Quizzically questioning Curly-Q
Respecting ruffians Brew, Grue and Rue.
Shimmying and shaking shivering Sue and Stew
Teaching talented Tommy Treachery too
Uniting understudies under the letter U
Vaporizing validation veering into valley view
Welcoming wild werewolf wearing blue.

Premium MemberPetitioning Spring of Tomorrow

Smile, O spring, smile, upon crimson arc of morning
Grinning through willows filtering golden sunbeams,
Sparkling from eyes of dew, glinting realms pristine,
Reveling through prairies, giggling tenor of streams,
Glistening core of purple-iris, soul of flaxen-pansies.

Waltz, O spring, waltz, shimmying blushing peonies,
Meandering with butterflies chasing nectar carefree,
Bouncing moods of bees from tree to flowering tree,
Elated strumming rhythms fluttering woody-foothills,
Grooving with meadows, humming lyrics of winds.

Sail, O spring, sail, rowing glee of seas-undulating,
Buoyant on spirits rushing from rivers, tributaries,
Traversing through terrains, once frigid, decaying,
Zealous now to venture, to rollicking side of being,
Surfing waves questing summer of sandy beaches.

Dream, O spring, dream, of mythical northern lights,
Glimpsed from garden of sumptuous white gardenias,
Through womb of dawn, hued in lavender of lilacs,
Preening beauty of flora, scintillating dawning aura,
As yonder of skies shimmers motifs of green aurora.

Premium MemberVoice of Spring

“and the birds twitter like whispering violins”
Quote by – Constance La France

Whiffs of fragrant breeze propagate tranquility
Kissing delicate roses, blushing amber beauty,
Rustling leaves of willows, as if tenor of music,
Swaying blades of grass shimmying moods of winds,
Sounding lyrics esoteric echoing voice of spring;

Humming softly to rhythms of dancing daffodils,
Quivering golden rays peeking through trees,
Burbling on rivers, rippling giggling tributaries,
Fluttering in glee, whispering to sunlit prairies,
Swinging tender revelry lilting in shadows,
Thrilling meadows budding through wintry throes,
Reviving weary realms, thriving withered knolls;

Grinning from mountains, atop lush valleys,
From shores of Pacific to shores of Atlantic,
Through the mighty Rockies, across Great Plains,
Lyrical, jubilant, exuding aura of happiness,
Enchanted by sweet ballad of robins’ daydreams
Strumming melodies of mellifluous spring.

I have seen dreams
Shimmying, like
Stars, in dark of night

I have known dreams
Mirroring miracles, that
Flowed while I was awake

I have held dreams of gem
As beam on wheels of time, so
delighted my fancy

I have floated on dreams of mercy
Recurring, causing hope to rise, like
Bloom of rainbow flower

I have dared to dream and believed, and
Basked in warmth of spring rain,
And felt kissed by morning dew.

Premium MemberSun Shimmering O'Er Frothy Snow

Sun shimmering o’er frothy snow
Like faeries glimmer
In far fantasy lands a-glow,
Shimmying they slither.

Crystals are glistening
Nature is listening;
Soul is awakening,

‘Tis quite a spectacular show
Sun shimmering o’er frothy snow.

Stargazer, stargazer
Bearer of bouquets
Four of stardust
Four the number of times you fussed
Hoping to see cream of the crop.

Pink, yellow, white, and orange stargazer lilies smiled
Your dimpled wife blushed
Step mom, and your auntie-in-law, hushed
Birth mother in her element rocked
You were humbled Prince of Wales with grandmother
You in garden of your mind, born to win
Stood star gazing.

The smell of lavender breeze floated in
Absolute joy soothe our soul,
We gathered not far from heaven's gate
Stargazer, you scouted shimmering colors
Shimmying still.

Premium MemberTo Live the Wind's Joy

“The wind rides in solitude
In her diaphanous delight.
Her skirts brush eternity
To gather the stars of night.”

Forever the stars she gathers
will magically move in the sky.
Their dance is the style of Glitter-bug
as they shimmy till morning is nigh.

The man in the moon watches them.
You’ll see how brightly he glows
to see those shimmying stars
on nights when his full face he shows.

And we, the witnessing earthlings,
whose eyes on the night’s sky gaze,
can more than just view the beauty
of nature’s most wondrous ways.

We also can live the wind’s joy
as her skirts among the stars twirl,
for her talents extend to valleys and hills.
Over all the world she can whirl.

Poets, look up to the heavens.
With imagination embrace
the dance of the stars in the heavens
while feeling the wind on your face.

Shirley's Shoe Day

Shining-shimmering shoes should something
Shirley shopped at Shalanee’s shoe shop.
She should have not shopped with shy Shay who
only shops shorty-shorts at the shopping mall and
shoots gold at Sharon’s pawnshop.
Shirley could have shared a pair of sheering shoes with Shandy
if it wasn’t for Sheena who shamelessly
showed her shocking-shindy shopping spree
manic shimmying for a Penshoppe…
Shivering Shirley should have shopped to Shoppee;
shipped Shandy's shiny shoes and pays the shipment fee
instead of shopping with Shay and Sheena
who shadowed and shrilled her shopping “Shoe” day.

Some Precious Memories

Serene heart waves submerging deep, a book,
Dwelling in some lyrics mellifluous, manifesting
A deep insight of my self composed song,
Shimmying from my significant nook
To create the music with my waves
Awaited unity's celebration by their shimmer
Sparkle some more to let me hear my song:-

"Waves of my past had flowed in the rhythm
Of the music of the rain, with a dulcet voice
Which used to leave my soul with no choice,
But to dance with the dancing ripples

That rose plant with emerald foliage
Whose charm had never faded with age,
Whose ruby prickles had blessed my palm
With wounds as red as themselves and the bloom

And the tranquil touch of the winter's duvet,
Memories of it trapped in crystals of dew
Hustle had been replaced by apparent stillness,
Gifting a moment of solace, so new"

So, colourful lyrics and zippy waves have told
That my dear nature's quite schmaltz,
So, once how badly I'd wished
To fill the infinite pages of my book
Yeah, it's yet to be finished

The Giant Sky

By the Wash, the estuary of the Ouse
And three more rivers adding to the swell
We saw the seals pass murmuring the Blues

Nature opens up if we read clues;
The giant sky, the sound  of a church bell;
By the Wash, the estuary of the Ouse.

A dangerous place, where currents catch the loose,
Old Hunstanton, white sands, cliffs with frills.
We saw the seals pass, shimmying the Blues.

Only painters need to find new excuse
For watercolour blends into the cells
By the Wash, the estuary, the Great Ouse.

My eye with radiant colour was imbued
Then it passed more deeply to my soul.
We saw the seals pass murmuring the Blues.

Nature can bring calmness, make us whole
And in its fierceness also make us bold.
By the Wash, the estuary of the Ouse
We heard the seals pass, stuttering the Blues

Premium MemberHarbor Lights

Before us, the harbor unfurls its tapestry of lights,
Serried jewels winking on numberless nights.
Onshore, they’re jostled in a million-starred galaxy,
Into the harbor they spill in a gleaming frenzy.
Neon tassels they are, shimmying on dark water,
Startled by passing ships, they break and scatter.
High above, the sky glitters with a crowded glory,
Affords the earthbound lights no lofty sanctuary.
Of finding welcome the itinerant lights despair,
In vain they have searched for a peaceful lair.

Then, out of the night, a twinkle starts to beckon
With infinite gladness, like a love-filled beacon.
Lured are the lights to where this promise lies,
Hurrying in flight, till they reach your blessed eyes.

In those limpid pools they arrive and congregate,
Join the resident sparkle, a new luster they radiate.
I know well their rapture, a joy so mighty,
For in your eyes, I too have found luminous beauty.

Premium MemberImmortal Rolling River

A ribbon of blue snakes through the hills
Carving its path as it meanders along
Rushing and gushing down to the sea
Burbling and gurgling, hear it singing a song

Watch it dancing around with a will of its own
Freely flowing until the end of time
Shimmying over pebbles and rocks
Its unconfined movement is simply divine

It will live on as long as rain falls from the skies
The end of the world will be the river’s demise

New Years Resolutions

I would like to remember
what it feels like to dance,
as I shuffle through streets
devoid of romance.

Shimmying and shaking
Grooving and gyrating
Wriggling and waggling
Bopping and banging.

Perhaps I will discover
the rhythm of soul,
the flow of jazz,
the moves of funk.

I may find hip-hop
stomping on a street,
or run into ballet
bouncing to the beat.

Ballroom might chacha
while swinging with salsa.
Foxtrot might samba
while rocking with rumba

I would love to spend
the coming year
dancing around people
without any fear.
