Waving daisies, Spikey grass.
Tree branch swords and running fast.
Collecting stones, spider's and worms.
A tire swing with new friends,
We're taking in turns!
Close your eyes, do not peek.
Count to ten, play hide and seek.
Some have seesaws, most have slides,
My favourite are the bars to climb.
Mum packed snacks, picnic munch
Parks are great to eat your lunch!
Fallen acorns, giant leafs, and resting under shady trees.
I love the park , its fun to play.
Spending time here every day.

At first his anger was hotter than July
Or, rather, he was plundered by the weight of
Sorrow —heavier than the ice of January;
The kind of stolid ice that thickened Niagara Falls
Like frozen soup.
He was tall and lissome, bespectacled, in
Dark suits, a brown hat, worn-out shoes of fraternity.
A folded umbrella accompanied him like a touring child.
No wristwatch.
He doesn’t wear them.
Asked why, he normally replies, “There are many public clocks”.
Stocks have plunged
Every expert he asked shared the same opinion?
Stocks are like seesaws —
They rise and fall.
Before then he had assumed that “rise-and-fall”
Was only for dictators,
And of course empires.
And every public clock he glanced up at
Had the same opinion on time? it ticks away,
Slowly, but perfectly.
And if you want to do time,
Then hurry over life importunately.

remember when the playground slept
in dreams that seldom smiled
the merry-goes and seesaws wept~
few truths were reconciled
yet still, the empty swings
bade lonely hearts to sit
all wet from early morning dew
and tears from wasted wishes
there was no one to push the swing
and laugh at tethered flight~
we stretched our legs, a song to sing
to snapping wind and kites
what raucous silence joined the din
and danced its dizzy spell
as twilight curtains drew their shade
upon the waning stage
I begged my slumber to be still
imagination tossed~
but dreams will tarry on until
their memory is lost

Breath in, breath out
the tide ebbs in, and surges out,
flows and pauses.
Swings and seesaws rock, bounce and rebound,
up and down, in tick-tock metronome time.
Memories tug, get hugged,
then unclasp, withdraw and let go to fade.
Dreams materialize, then dissolve.
Laughter spits, splits, spills, gushes out,
echoes then wanes to abstain in a chuckle.
Hope flits and flickers like a candle flame
blown to quiver by a shaky breath expelled
while trying to blow
the flame of a birthday candle out.
For the cadence of existence
is a hymn tuned by a conductor's baton
a metric dance, set in a tango two-time step,
a soft-shoe tap rap
in between yesterday and tomorrow,
in between blinks, breath holds.
Nestled momentarily on-hold to pause,
in between the tugs and shoves
of feelings, emotions,
hopes, inspiration
faith and desire.
Hold your breath,
for a brief moment.
Take time to take in
all the ins and outs,
and the roundabout twirls,
that surround you,
while you go
with the flow.

once upon a time
in the fifties and sixties
school playgrounds had small merry-go-rounds
and teeter totters aka seesaws
our slides were as tall as our nine story school house
safety was not a big deal
no one wore helmets or kneepads
our job was to play
have adventures and love our life
I miss those playgrounds

Smiles bloom like flowers in the sun,
As children race, their laughter runs.
Eyes sparkle bright with pure delight,
In this magical playground site.
Little hands reach for the sky,
On swings that make them feel they fly.
Hearts beat fast with joyous thrill,
As they zoom down the sliding hill.
Friendships form in sandbox play,
Building castles day by day.
Giggles bubble, spirits soar,
On seesaws rising more and more.
Cheeks flushed pink with a happy glow,
As round and round the merry-go.
Proud faces beam on monkey bars,
Feeling strong as a superstar.
In this world of climbing and running,
Every child's a shining sun.
Playground magic, pure and true,
Where happiness is always new.

Kittens warm up the garden with their happy meows
We see them coming, and the daffodil bows
The roses hide their thorns, so not to hurt their paws
They frolic and prance on the vine’s clever seesaws
Kittens charm the lilies, take away their growl.
They delight us in many ways. The zinnias howl.
Here they come! The kitten brigade is a sweet undertaking.
We watch them scamper and dance, their fluffy fur shaking.

Seesaws moving up and down
Slides sweeping down
Swings flying high
Laughters released
Thundering and echoing
Footsteps scattered
Trumpeting and vibrating
While many eyes observing and following
While many eyes hunting and fixing
Sh, life is around
And so a motherly love
Has secretly crawled in

Is it true that I was taught
About life on seesaws and swings
On this playground I thought
Learning all the lessons I got
I would scream in elation
When I was right up
High at the very top
That touched the sky
And then I would fall with
The weight right down
Falling on my knees
Touching the ground
And in all of my happiness
I forgot, that I was never
Meant to fly, and with a sigh!
That’s when I dropped
Right down from the sky!

In the 30’s, right on Broadway,
For a temporary stay,
Are a dozen lit-up seesaws
Meant for passers-by to play.
Once a staple of each playground,
Now a seesaw is so rare
Many people never saw one
‘Til they spied them waiting there.
But they just can’t be resisted
So each duo, taking turns,
Shrieks with laughter as they rise,
No thoughts of safety-type concerns.
Oh, the simple joys of childhood
Brought to life as a surprise -
Head to Broadway, hop on board
And try a seesaw on for size!

Your face is like a playground
with curved edges inviting
energetic laughter all around,
nostalgically exciting.
Your eyes are like a swing set,
lashes flapping with each blink.
Sometimes puddles below stay wet,
but your tears I'd love to drink.
Your brows, like two seesaws aligned
befittingly side by side
are fun to watch when I find
emotions take them for a ride.
Your smile, like a magic bridge,
connects distant friends together,
lifting high upon each ridge
as softly as a feather.
Your nose is like a double slide
architecturally created,
reflecting a warm, sun-kissed glide,
ideally located.
Your ears are like a talk tube,
hearing every whispered word
next to the tic-tac-toe cube,
to which your earrings are referred.
Your mind, like a merry-go-round
spins lively thoughts to adore.
Your face is like a playground,
with plenty to explore.

Mother raised so much of what we ate each and every day.
She also made the best of blackberry pies from berries we picked.
A dining table took up most of the kitchen for our multitude.
A pot belly heater kept us warm from the winter's cold.
Dolls, red wagons, electric trains, and happy faces at Christmas time.
My childhood was great, but the farm work seemed a bit inhumane.
Pigs, chickens, cows, pet rabbits, goats, and mom and dad who didn't divorce.
Merry-go-rounds, sliding boards, seesaws, and swings gave us plenty of play.
I prefer to forget the hard childhood labor that should never have been.
Countless were the dry days of summer that we wished it would rain.

of blond wheat,
braided spikes
rustling

Grapes of wrath despite the fire
In your bosom they burn
Can’t coalesce or coerce pressing problems to retire
Alongside frustrations and disappointments in the urn
That your world turns upside down
In lean times
That your pillow eiderdown
Limes in slimes
Raining from your eyes tears
Like fast running river water
Currents whose spears
In their sharpness batter
Your self esteem
To smithereens
Screaming and bouncing in stream
Screens and pins
From your delightful past
Have swollen
Doubt bouts cast
In stolen, crestfallen
Seesaws when your morale squeals
In its full span
Deals and reels
A regret van and pan
Floating and showboating
Restraining the anger
Clear, ***** and nearby flying and floating
Pangs and gangs of hunger
Wrath can’t cure
Your dilemma conundrum despite its cruelty
Skewer, pure and sure
Peace of mind of the variety
That a level head
Without raising temperatures
Or ruffling feathers on a boisterous bed
Achieves in brand new conflict resolution cultures.
