Summer Warmth Lento

Greet the heat with a smile
Meet all your summer dreams
Eat some corn and watermelon
Treat yourself to ice creams

Drink some homemade lemonade
Think of cool blue seas
Blink and suddenly, summer is over
Sink into melancholy

Premium Member Hot Sultry Summer Air

Hot sultry summer air.
Clouds gather filled with rain,
float by leave water rare.
All wait relief from pain.

Clouds gather filled with rain,
leaving a small sprinkle, while
all plants wait relief from pain.
Frogs hear thunder for miles.

Leaving a small sprinkle while,
crickets, birds, bees with all
frogs hear thunder for miles.
Sunflowers enjoy; grow tall.

Crickets, birds, bees with all,
float by leave water rare.
Sunflowers enjoy; grow tall,
Hot sultry summer air.

Summer

o how i love summer
the sunshine
the birds
the green grass in between my toes

o how i love summer
blue skys
white clouds
and the smell of fresh cut grass
dont forget the flowers

o how i love summer
cook outs
camping
beaches
get togethers with family and friends

o how i love summer

Summer Days

Summer Days

Summer days
Hot and sweltering
Below a burning hot ball of gas
No breezes to cool the land
The lakes steam a bleak grey fog
As the air seeks to evaporate the water below
The coolness of the water
The heat of the unending sun
Bake the bodies lying on the dead lake shore
Some merely skeletons
No flesh or muscle
They tell the stories of many summer days
Too many days of infernal heat
Petite young girls and strong young men
Line the shores in an annual ritual
Naked they turn red and brown as their bodies roast
Cooking ever so neatly in the Earth’s oven
They do not feel the heat
They do not see the death which surrounds them
They only see beautiful tan bodies
They see the fun the summer day offers them
God, to be young again and not look around

The Summer Time

Summer time is here, and everybody's about to have a good time. The sun is out for summer
vacation and it's time to have some fun. The summer breeze is cooling everybody off after
a long day under the sun. Everybody's out at the beach building sand castles, playing
beach volleyball, surfing in the ocean, and relaxing on the sand. I hope everyone is able
to bring some beach towels, beach umbrellas, and plenty of sunscreen. All people could go
for a glass of iced tea or lemonade after a long day. Summer vacation is like going to a
summer festival at Central Park in New York City. Sometimes, all of the summer days are a
little bit boring, but some of them are filled with a lot of fun and a lot of excitement.
There's a lot to do during the summer, like, going to summer camp, , reading books filled
with plenty of adventure, and stuff. There's 104 days of summer and everyone's not going
to blow it. Even though summer will be over and temperatures will drop down, summer will
be an unforgettable season.

Premium Member Susie, the Ice Cream Scooper

For only a few summer months out of the year,
I can always find a pretty girl working here.
She is the type of gal most guys see in a dream.
I see her every summer day scooping ice cream.
Sundaes, cones, sodas, there is nothing she can’t serve.
I want to speak to her, but I can’t get the nerve.

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or peach,
many other flavors are within her reach.
A sundae or cone she can serve me any day.
If I could get her attention, is there a way?
I always look forward to the summer season.
Susie at the ice cream parlor is the reason.

Premium Member It's a Quarter of Eight

It's a quarter of eight and dark outside.
Summer has gone on her downhill slide.
I'm up before the sun has made herself known
And in a few short hours she seems to have flown.
I miss summer already, though she's barely gone.
Not looking forward to winter where nights are so long.
I'm already counting the days until spring.
Just getting through another winter, now there's the thing.
I don't like the cold, I don't like the dark.
Fall is so fleeting, it's barely a lark.
I can't wait for March when pussywillows arrive.
Yes, I'm counting the days 'til the earth comes alive.
It's a quarter of eight and dark outside
And the summer sun has gone off to hide

Summer Is Over (Haiku)

For The Summer is Over Haiku contest:

Sunsets come early
Leaves fade and begin to fall
Too soon summer flees

Summer Fun

Summer Fun

Summer fun is wrapping up.
So are my last days for being a beach bum,
by hanging out in my flip-flops and string bikini.

Now that the nights are growing longer
and the days are growing shorter.
Time to get serious and
put my life back in order.

But, I'll always remember fondly,
my days this summer of hanging
by the pool and studying for school
while sipping on a gin and tonic.

I'll also miss the lovely summer tunes
that played over the pool's loud speaker
and the smile of our well-toned lifeguard
who always proudly wears
his high-top sneakers.

Ode To Summer Days (For Beautiful Form Contest Sponsored By: Catie Lindsey)

Ode to Summer Days

Oh summer days, thy laughter, children playing,
Thee, from whom sorrows fly and joys blossom,
Are singing, like angels with smiling eyes gleaming,

Savory sweetness released before autumn,
Prevalent giggles multiplied in thee,
Who coloreth each new day bright and gladsome.

Delightful squeals, escape young souls and float
Upon the wings of heaven carried dreams
Forever singing songs young poets wrote.

Thy splashing fish spawn light into daydreams.
Making young boys who dare to cast their nets
Seek lively views and honor bestowed gleams.

Oh summer, which in precious love begets
Sweet pleasures ever-growing sings duets.

Hasten Summer Hasten!

Hasten Summer, Hasten!,
come swiftly back to me,
come hollyhock and rose bush
come lovely picnic tea,
come gentle breeze,
come apple trees
come busy bumble bee,
Oh hasten summer hasten!
come swiftly back to me.

Hasten Summer, Hasten!
come swiftly back to me,
come lemonade, and rose hip wine,
come lime and strawberry,
come carriage rides,
come happy brides,
come weekends by the sea,
Oh hasten summer hasten!
come swiftly back to me.

Premium Member The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk

Whistles, jeers
Unrelenting young men
Ladies in swimsuits sigh while passing by

Screams from the Wild Mouse
Creaking ominously against summer skies
What happens if it fails to make that turn?

Spinning wheels, colorful trophies
“Step right up and try your luck!”
“Come on, Dad, it’s just a buck.”

Children’s laughter
Fun House draws a youthful audience
Mom and Dad slurp snow cones outside

Buzzing overhead
Plane with trailer invites diners:
“Sample succulent fare at Oyster Pad”

Honking trams
Make room for commuters
Who heckle pedestrians

Pounding surf
Lovers entwine beneath the wooden planks
Whispering promises of eternal affection

Cooing pigeons
Stalk the waffle stand
Wings flutter when bounty’s found

Yawning toddlers
Mothers cradle in their arms
Dads wearily tote huge, stuffed bears

What a Morning

I wake up to a fly buzzing in my ear
The birds are chirping
The ducks begin to quack
As you can hear the dogs barking
Here comes the cats who meow in this musical

The wind blows and make the chimes ring
Welcome to the sweet sounds of summer morning

FOR SOUNDS OF SUMMER CONTEST

Premium Member Autumn's Allure

Summer waves goodbye, as it tip toes forward.
Autumn shadows the land, without saying a word.

The hues of fall gradually makes its appearance.
The traces of summer breeze by, saluting in reverence.

Autumn light rain covers over the splayed ground.
A gentle wind cradles the leaves falling all around.

Summer passes on by, taking the toil and the heat.
Autumn breathes in coolness, as the summer retreats.

Trees turn over a new leaf, as autumn commands.
The green plush ground fades and changes hands.

Grayish clouds appear and the sun is obscured.
Autumn abounds with mystery and full of allure.
