Summer senses September

Behind the scenes

just a feeling
while it seemed all the words in the world
could not appease her fears
and yet a single look of tenderness
was all it took to make her whole again

Behind the scenes in psychotherapy

a degree and he knows it all
summarizes me in a nanosecond
has me all figured out

simplified into a likely story
for someone else perhaps
but no sir, not for me

casually randomizing
careless comments tossed
into a common salad

the maestro takes words
and plays them back askew
creating his own new melody

with all his pomp and arrogance
he is the type that gives
the profession

The scenes of autumn

The withered leaf, the shiny, wet concrete where many footsteps have traveled, and left their mark, and set a new path forward, where many can view the beauty of the worn bridge and multi-colired trees in the midst if autumn.  A rare bird lands on a tree branch, vocalizing its perfectly unique voice.

I love you, but you love the mirror 
thinks your nose is perfect
green eyes and rosy lips
your fragrance has a narcissistic 
allure, as you take the last look
in the hallway mirror before
leaving for the ball

adore you, rain shies away to
save your hair from bother 
When you cross the road, car horns

     The doctor’s practice went to waste
        the moment that the medic faced
     A call from his reserve platoon
        to fight a battle all too soon

Running fancy free into a field,
Chasing butterflies my path revealed,
My arms outstretched into the sky,
I am so happy--not caring why.
Cooled by a fragrant soft Spring breeze,
I trip and fall down to my knees,
Then wistfully gaze into the sky,
To watch the clouds drift slowly by.
Slowly my youthful mind escapes,
Into their billowy pillowy shapes,
As my youthful imagination

Scenes From The First Snow Storm of 2024

The mayor out to save a few bucks
dragged his feet declaring a snow emergency.
 
The sanitation department decided it was time
to begin a work slowdown protesting cutbacks made
to their department during the last budget crises.
Though union officials when questioned
about this insisted.
They were being used as scapegoats again!

And my snow blower wouldn’t start cause.
I stored it

The calm, composed Coconut Beach of Cambodia
Or the Galápagos Islands of sublime sereneness
Boats of quietude sail through the seas of Utopia.
Stream, brook, sunrise, sunset—nature's flowery floridness

The breathing of butterflies and the blooming of blossoms
Confessions of Cherubic Caves and Covenants of Clouds
Desert islands and deserted monumental chasms
Fancies of farms, fields, forests, fishes, flocking feathered fowls

Scenes represented by us on a stage,
puppets suspended by strings,
Someone has the main role

Enjoying the scenes

Can I control my destiny
Can I heal the rest of me 
Will I find peace someday 
Grow wings and fly away

I’ll let dark turn to light 
Grow bright despite the fight 
Will my cages that hold my pain 
Let freedom open what they contain 

Will the clouds come down and surround me 
Will I end

The Scenes He Loves To Portray

When the sun has not yet reached its zenith,
this man I know 
prefers to show the world he sees
depicting it when trees first don 
their leafy garments.
He dips his brush into viridescent hues.
Strokes of emerald play upon his canvas
as the world waking up from dreariness
he lovingly and graciously portrays.

** SCENES FROM HOME **

The curtain wafts on an open-window’s breezing air, like liquid 
Blue in the room, bringing beauty with magic’s tracing

The woman with her still raining, trickling water-streams
Over her calf as she lifts her leg out of the bath

Above the call, “Daughter!” to the girl running outside, her 
Tresses and turquoise skirt flying
