Smell
the most
precious
and last sense
to go
Its
lingering
fragrance
vanishing
slow
A
single
carnation
a bright
yellow rose
Through
deafness
and darkness
till death
—wafting so

Status quite clear indeed
Never know what could....
A piece that speaks to those souls lost to the ethereal spaces by bullying, lies, misunderstandings, and not hearing real sincere words that may be a foreign experience.

SAYONARA SONG ON LUSCIOUS LIPS
The cold sun sinks slow in the vermilion void
Reels of cirrus cloud on crimson ripples creep
Tell the homing birds how much they enjoyed
To fly free in the swath of serene sky so deep.
The tender touch of trembling twilight gleam
Incisive invasion of untamed menagerie instinct
Infuse in you the ancestral passion not yet dim
Fragrance of frangipani lingers in your precinct.
In your pellucid eyes drop of melting day drips
Mockingbirds sing sayonara song on luscious lips.

I think I might just turn about
and proudly walk away
I think I might just strut right out
without another word to say
Keep my calm, maintain my poise
Perhaps it’s best that way
Lips pressed tight, there’ll be no noise
As quiet as the break of day
I’ll leave my pride behind me
With all else I once held dear
I pled my case ‘pon my knee
Only for it to fall ‘pon deafened ear
It would seem by now I’d know somehow
With a leaden heart and heavy sigh
To say ‘Adieu my sweet...I leave you now`
But I was never good at saying
...Goodbye...

Jack Bogan died last week, the last
of the Whippets, a garage band big
in a small way back in the Sixties.
The Whippets had a following
in Chicago and its suburbs.
They played high school dances,
holiday parties and graduations.
Like other bands they believed
they would fill Yankee Stadium.
They practiced late at night
entertaining friends and strangers
and driving the neighbors nuts.
Perhaps with the right break
they would have made the charts,
appeared on American Bandstand
with Dick Clark, his hair perfect,
praising them to the sky before
bringing out the superstar.
Lightning struck for a few, it’s true.
But as it did for Jack last week
the music finally died.

Summer Sayonara
If you can hear
as I can now
the rose of noun
the bee of verb
the hive of mind
then you can hear
as I can now
everywhere the zither
of the siphonings
of day, everywhere
the last letter of
the alphabet

Sayonara to you my friend,
My heart is aching for this is the end;
I know, One day I'll see you again,
I can't help thinking what your life has been.
It's hard to be left alone in this world,
There's a lot of road to be taken and you're confused where to go;
You're hungry and you're cold,
No shelter, No food;
No one to feed you, No one to hold,
You called someone but no one showed.
Sayonara bid my farewell,
I can do nothing but tears just fell;
Forgive me my friend, please understand,
It is not in my hands your destiny depends.
I'm sorry with all my heart,
If I broke your heart and tore it apart;
I'm sorry if you mistrust,
No one listened but I did my part.
My conscience haunts me as your memories die,
I'll cherish you always, that's not a lie;
Forgive me dearest one if I had let you down,
Sayonara, Sayonara,
I hope I can undo all that has been done.
