Sonnet for St David

The leek will sit with pride upon that hat;
and, yes, a daffodil’s another plant.
The two are often worn, so let us chat
about St David’s Day – or Dewi Sant.

This prelate was a Christian and we know
he was a bishop and the son of Non,
and grandson of a king, said to be so,
that king, we’re told, of Ceredigion.

St David will be found within stained glass.
There’s also a cathedral named for him.
It’s hard to miss St David as we pass
and some will even hum a well-known hymn.

Ah yes, we rather like the daffs and leeks,
could wear the daffs or eat those leeks for weeks.

Premium Member Remember the Alamo

What Col. William Barrett Travis might have said to the defenders
of the Alamo on March 5, 1836, the twelfth day of the siege.

                      Remember the Alamo

My fellow Texians hear what I say
                      your courage inspires and leaves me in awe;
as I humbly stand before you today
your gallantry from which my strength I draw.

Sant’ Anna’s troops surround this mission’s walls,
                      and from this bout we face, there’s no escape;
we’ll fight to death until the last man falls,
and with the blood we shed, the fates we’ll shape.

For friends and fam’lies our lives will avow
the future hopes and freedoms they’ll attain,
and when the final man has made his bow,
please know that we will not have died in vain.

Our deeds here will forever write their scripts
when “Remember the Alamo” leaves their lips.

Easter

Easter is for bunnies and colorful eggs
Were kids have the most fun finding them
Each year it's different time for sun filled baskets
Were a child's smile lights up your day
Reminds you of being a kid
When your mom an dad were in your shoes
Funny how life goes by so fast looking back
The good ol days where no worries involved
To a much simpler time an place were sant filled you stockings
An the tooth fairy would slip a dollar underneath your pillow
Makes me think I wish I never grew up

March 1st - Contest

Today is St David’s Day here in Wales
Dydd Dewi Sant is what we say
Images it doth portray
Of national dress worn upon this day

St David was a teacher and ascetic
Founder of the monastery Glyn Rhosyn*
Upon his death the fellow monks said
these special words I have chosen

Brothers be ye constant.
The yoke which with single mind ye have taken
bear ye to the end; and whatsoever
ye have seen with me and heard,
keep and fulfil."

Christmas : Santa Versus Jesus

CHRISTMAS - Santa Versus Jesus

The 25th of December is the day of Christmas
were we all celebrate the coming of Jesus
yet we represent that day with a roly poly little man
called Santa Claus, why do we do this ?
why is Sant Claus sitting in department stores
amusing children and spreading the Christmas spirit to all,
while the birth of Jesus Christ is forgotten as if he
had never been born, the Bible has always been
a respected book and Christmas is a sacred day to all,
yet we give Santa carte blance over Jesus, I feel
there needs to be change as Jesus is the religious reason
that Christmas is being celebrated, while a pretender has
virtually taken his throne, I feel Santa Claus and Christmas
Trees should be replace by Mangers and Jesus, to
commemorate his birth and what he eventually did to save
man from his sins, I am not a religious man but do believe
religion should replace commercial venture and Santa Claus
should be replaced by Jesus, as he is the true King of Christmas.

About You

I woke up this morning
I couldn't see your face
I felt so lost I Felt out
of place when we are
around each other we're
so close I can't believe how
lucky I am that you love
me the most when I see
your body I begin to fant
it reminds me of a sant when
I see your face it takes me
to our happy place!!!!!!
