A snip, snip, here
And a snip, snip, there
They're cuttin' and carvin'
After shavin' my hair

A slip, slip, here
Brain salad on legs
A slip, slip, there
As they scramble my eggs

These doctors of doom
Will I soon depart
One slip of the knife 
Just another brain fart

A skip, skip, here
No Aflac my boy
As they skip, skip there
Just another new toy

crispy salad for lunch

crispy salad greens
topped with fresh red tomatoes
a colorful feast

slivers of carrots
taste buds are quick to waken
whispers of blue cheese

add some radishes
and strips of shaved honey ham
a marvelous lunch

Salad Days

I don't know
where iceberg lettuce
winter squash
or snow peas grow
but it seems to me
it's not down there
in Antarctica
where and when it's freezing below
which only goes to show
pointing out if not advising
there's bait and switch in the pitch
and no truth to their advertising

Salad fresh, cool, crisp with
Sweet onion dressing tossed;
Salt and pepper a must !
Spinach added for health;
Sprinkled herbs for delight;
Steak strips added is nice !

We always ate salad when I was a kid,

For the lettuce was iceberg, which I never buy,
Though we didn’t have choices back then

potato salad ghost

A ghost-flitted out of the refrigerator today.
He smelled like potato salad.
Had he been eating it?
Or was he born in it?
The ghost looked right at me.
Gave me a diabolical smile.
For the first time ever.
I was terrified by the smell of potato salad.
