Premium MemberBlood Moon

There is a moon stuck inside the stoplight
A still unblinking gaze controlling blood tides
Circulatory system like New York City in the seventies
The thrashing of my tire fire heart led
To the tribute of an overzealous blood tithe

With the buzzing of the latch relay circuit
Night and day, the cosmic light switch clicks
Itself into place, there is no dusk or dawn
We are burdened to tread in the interchange

We are a gathering of werewolves, in need
Of a blood moon, craving catharsis and hope
There is no time to pencil in a reverie
A daily scene, like a living nightmare
Turning us into cybernetic lycanthropes

Relay the Message

Through struggles with health amongst all the strife..
The one sure thing is this program called Relay For Life…
Everyday someone in America dies of uncontrollable disease…
So widespread it brings family and friends to their knees…
To watch their loved ones both big and small…
Give in to the fight to win or lose it all..
The smiles on the face of a child who overcomes yet another spinal tap..
Or the tears of joy of a parent who can live to hold their grandchildren on their lap..
What makes it real are the people who are involved and donate..
Because as you know for some it is already too late…
So we have to see that their future is truly in our hands..
To help these victims fight and take a stand…
And be their strength in dark times as well as in the light..
So they know we care even before their spirit takes flight.

Gold Within The Ink May Heart's Depths Relay

The gold within the ink, it truly glows
As golden afternoon sun slowly sinks,
Night arrives to gift its many shows
As midnight owl its eyes rapidly blinks.
The prancing moon its soft beams splatters
O' the washing tides sing and play along
Writing poetic verses such matters,
As does the music to romantic songs.
Take pride in verses sweetly splashed
From within the surging tides of one's soul,
Be they born of life, sorrows rehashed
Or rejoicing in attaining one's goal!

Gold within the ink may heart's depths relay
Truth of the soul that so sincerely prays.

Premium MemberThe Relay Race

The relay race starts with a bang as rain comes pouring down.
The starting runner, Spring, flies by in her bright flower crown.
Baton gets passed to Summer, who so glowingly appears
right at the very moment that the massive rain cloud clears.
The crowd all loves this golden runner, who too soon is gone.
The sun shines brightly on her as she passes the baton.
The third one, Autumn, plods through leaves and nearly takes a Fall,
then passes off to Winter, who proceeds at such a crawl -
for she showed up in sweatpants, knowing snow had been forecast.
Each spectator cheers loudly when the finish line is passed.
But when that race is over, then a new one's soon begun
with all the fans excited to see how THAT race is run!

Relay Leg

Beginning to smile as the person beside you drives
And you fly because flying beats driving every day
The will power behind you is no match for the artist within you
For as he strives and as he pushes and as he pulls
His muscles are starving, gasping for oxygen
But you are running free, smoother, faster, quieter
Somewhere between a machine and a myth
Lightly touching the track, rolling
A masterpiece, an excellence
You are a living expression of beauty
To reach one's potential, to come close
To feel the wind and to embrace it, To join it
It whistles in your ears and in the baton
Legs become numb, known only by reason
Frozen air burning in the lungs
Spirit soaring, enjoying the moment
Physical incorporated and overwhelmed
Dynamic ease with power and peace
You are hyper alive
Your whole being worships

Relay

May I relay to you the moments in which I breathe alone,
Seeing your pain from the wayside of imminent tears,
At a distance, fighting resistance…to run into your space

May I relay to you the throbbing of my heart,
As I absorbed your crushing absence
Wondering how I might fight the worms,
As they lodged in your decaying flesh

May I relay to all the moonlight above
When I forced my soul to leave you
Hoping I would see you
One last time before I was alone again

May I relay to all how I lodged inside you,
Like the hungry worms,
Trapped willingly in your dead body…

I keep wondering how it feels to not feel
How it feels in the ground to never be alone

(this poem was a free-style that I recorded at the top of my head. Talk about subconscious negativity. geez... Anyway, I tweaked the last line some. : )

Relay
        by Odin Roark

Quietly restless vibrates their lives
Refusing to become another’s exhaustion

With feet that still move
Arms that forever embrace
Smiles that only invite
Thinking that feeds dreams
Their midnight oil remains burning

So go the resilient few
Bodily disintegration ignored
Their stamina relentless
Minds and hearts held fervent
Even as so few relate
Most collapsing beneath dimming flame

When the finish line appears
Champions of tenacity find the baton levitating
Shadowy runners refusing evanescence
Enjoining instead others unyielding

Still…

All must cross pragmatic finish lines
Exit stadium’s forgetful tunnels
Accept this life’s form of play

For some

Around unknown corners few wish to chance
Breathing continues restless
As transition invites pause
For new breath to be caught

My Relay Buddy

This year and last
you make me feel wanted
You make sure
I'm not left behind
It's a new feeling
that I'll hold on to
And I do care
that's why I was there
I just wish that you'd talk to me now
about anything
I don't want you to leave
and have summer go by
and you disappear
