Premium MemberThe Watermark

The mark of water is an empty void.
It washes clean.
It slips through fingers,
It has no cup, leaves no trace
For it is the primordial spark,
the fountainhead of life,
the matter and medium
that's within sustaining
all living things.

The watermark you speak of
is the scar of what lingers,
after water has been and gone—
the scum that clings,
the salt crust and sediment grit,
the shroud of dust,
the mildew of memory,
the rusted scourge of hope.

But the mark is not made by water.
for even it's echo
is unblemished, innocent, untainted,
leaving no fingerprints,
to trace back for blame or guilt.

After the touch of water departs,
or the maker brands an indelible stain
the aftertaste of water hardens its resolve
To reassert and stake its claim,
that the so-called watermark
is, in truth, the scar and smear
that water and time
can no longer wash away.

Harbor Forgiveness

His uproar was clear and overt
damage our love in one spurt
wreck Twenty-Ninteen (2019) “Home Port” chert
My soul is deeply deeply burnt

Pure kindhearted intent converts
to mistrust dreadful disconcert
mom, dad overly protection subverts
son’s golden career –- ugly divert

Three against one was no flirt
Cruel heartbreak alone in desert
Heal my ache in bitter dim yurt
I’d rather curse pain than hurt

Why is it, when my heart is hurt
I’d give a sigh of high alert

Will our gentle courtship be revert?
Self-healing must reassert

Again, again forgive to unhurt
Harbor forgiveness free the hurt

Premium MemberThe Raven

I have a secret it's buried deep
Almost afraid to fall asleep
My shape will shift when unaware
It really is a frightful scare.

This morning found black feather on bed
Midnight is trigger I truly dread
No idea where I flew last night
Except was home with morning light.

Exhausted, confused what a curse
The raven is waiting to reassert
A Shapeshifter, no doubt, is what I am
Alone, on my own, having no clan.

We Will Love

when terror strikes so does love
disrupting lives, not all of us
heartlessness makes hearts go out
from evil air our love will sprout
try to break us then we’ll unite
try to take us then we will fight
divide our souls and eyes will cry
new bonds will form in those alive
the wars and battles we survive
for freedom is both you and I
give us mountains watch us climb
breaking hearts but never minds
the desert dirt to the valley floor
scar our flesh but not our core
whatever we face we endure
the desperate hurt time will cure
bring the rain and make it pour
we’ll reassert and reassure
life will reign as plants will soar
one fight two fight three fight four
we will fight and fight some more
believe in life the love is pure
a supremacy of which we’re sure
me in your heart you in mine
and nobody gets left behind
heed this message through all of time
love and peace for all mankind
weaken us you feed our will
we will love, they will kill
tomorrows sunrise happens still
when hate has died the love is real
we share the pain but we get up
we will remain and so will love

AUDIO: Nuthin But A G Thang by Dr Dre & Snoop Dog

Hope

It begins
from depths within
unmeasurable plunging phantoms down
festerin' the grounds

Lingerin' up sounds
trace
sin
space
sing

Astir the Astros
call on the cosmos play-sures
endeavors

Psyche
assimilators consciousness
dabbles

Wake the dreamers
the unreal
the liars

The dream team
zookeepers senses that
it sucks as it pants in
suspense feeling
the zeal for
realism

Tangibles
hand-all with care

The Dreamer
Ahh! Wakes up now to form
just a tad late yet find I
brave and craving

Echoes from a conch shell
sounds of the see

voice articulates
to be alert and
reassert

Reach for the stars
else, no heaven be
simply permeate
and then create
the essence

It's dope when
one invokes!

HOPE ...

Loves and losses
revives
relived
rejoice.

Whittling

The time has finally come, at last,
To start to whittle down the past.
I comb the closets and each drawer
For things I don’t wear anymore.

My tennis shorts for younger thighs;
My Reeboks worn for exercise.
My wide-leg jeans so full and loose
I’d be accused of style abuse.

My denim skirt with matching shirt -
My love for them won’t reassert.
An old wool sweater bound to itch
Now joins the pile I plan to ditch.

I fill a bag to give away
But certain items have to stay
If they don’t make me laugh or cringe.
Oh joy! My t-shirt with the fringe!

The Worry Machine

The clothes we wear get dirty
Or, once worn, are not so fresh,
So they get cleaned (or should) before
They’re back against our flesh.

Now wouldn’t it be wonderful
If, like our dirty wash,
Our problems could be laundered
And would disappear? Oh gosh!

We’d load our worries and our stress,
Each sorrow, dread and fear
Into some contraption, spinning ‘til
They all would disappear.

Each day would start out crisp and clean
And we could reassert
Our better selves, at least until,
The build-up of new dirt.

Premium MemberNo Room For Doubt

pretty please...
   wonder not whether
      my love for you is
         24-karat gold.
            it is!
               glittering
just like so in my eyes
   each time i whisper...
     "I love you"
         softly into your ear...
            foxgloves n o d
               and blare their trumpets
and nightingales
   sing into the breeze
for they know it to be
         so true.
            by now,
               i must've told you so
a thousand or more times.
   do believe my love
      wholeheartedly
         because....
            to question how much
               or second-guess it
would be to break
   every piece of my heart.
      darling,
         you needn't ask for verification,
            for my fingers write....
              "I love you"
with each touch on your skin.
   p l u n g e into my eyes!
      don't you see...
         the crimson embers
            of my love in them?
               you don't feel the warmth
of my smile?
   to be sure there is
      no room for doubt,
         I'll reassert, yes, my sweet,
            i couldn't love you more,
               sincerely

Premium MemberWhere It's Safe For Them

There is a place where children stay
in a virtual Neverland,
where it's safe for them to play.

Happiness at their command
and broccoli that tastes like cheese
in a virtual Neverland.

Clouds that you can grab and squeeze
that taste just like marshmallows
and broccoli that tastes like cheese.

Lots of laughing funny fellows
riding unicycles and juggling balls
that taste just like marshmallows.

They giggle so hard they trip and fall
and they never ever get hurt
riding unicycles and juggling balls.

It's important that I reassert,
there is a place where children stay
and they never ever get hurt
where it's safe for them to play.

Time Heals

Time heals so they say
It’s perspective it adds along the way

Reflections of thoughts, emotions
One of life’s may promotions

Loosing the fire of hurt
Time has the gift to reassert

Many thoughts getting clear
Mind and emotions disappear

Time is our friend whispering in the ear
Listen to time it will come clear

The Charity Jump

Insanity enters my distorted simple mind
To raise funds for charity for some unknown,
Impulsive, heroic, death defying, maligned
Save children or animals or even Sierra Leone

mind can do anything, though body unwilling
Something not to taxing, not energetic
Ruled out running, climbing, and no swimming
Beginning to feel a little pathetic,

Perhaps drive through the Sahara desert
Without knowing my destination no route,
Daft thoughts, my mind I need to reassert
Yes Jump out an airplane with a parachute.

I start training, how to fall to mother Earth
Without those possible leg injuries,
Begin to wonder what my life's worth
Could be my end, heavens inquiries,

Adrenaline flowing as entering airplane,
Over One thousand feet, ready, yet unwilling
No turning back, Am I brave, stupid, insane,
Will this end in sorrow or will it be thrilling,

Time has come I must jump, mind now blank,
I fall out legs kicking, wind rushing by,
Ninety seconds to Earth, a jolt my heart sank,
canopy had opened, I'm not going to die.

( I ripped three ligaments in my right foot
When landing wrong, Doctor advised not
To do this again, though I would love to)

Premium MemberSo Good

You're such a good and loving God to take such care of me.
Though I don't deserve it, still Your love is free.

You came into a barbarous world steeped in sin's corruption;
A world so vile it seemed to be bent on self destruction.

You laid aside Your Glory and disguised as a simple man,
You bravely entered in the fight to reassert Your plan.

You bought back all who are Your Own, You never flinched or wavered.
You spilled Your Precious Royal Blood to reinstate God's favor.

I wonder now could I withstand what You willingly went through;
And would again for just one man if e'er You needed to.

Could I ever be that brave? I don't think I could.
It's only You within me Lord. Only You are good.

Premium MemberLifting the Fog

Let us clear the fog and be honest
I had ideas in which you did invest
Fun we had in the times we shared
Together we built castles and dared
In rolled the smog and spoiled our fun
Now it is all hazy as in the winter sun
Gone is the warmth we had spun

Tell me do you not love me anymore
You act cold to me which I can't ignore
Eager I am to blow all and sail us ashore

Fight with me if you must, if you feel hurt
Open up the floodgates and clean the dirt
Got the courage to listen to you, I reassert

Premium MemberWhat Lurks Within

Help with the struggles, man's faced with, in life on earth
As man learns life knowledge, instead of grasping worth

A passion to hold all that's seen, since his moment of birth
Is innate desire or thoughts, meant for direction not for girth

I find it ironic when man is compared to fish seen in a tank
To show greed's value, it's the larger fish that have the swank

Where man sees their struggle, in the fight for food and life
He fails to see expectation, the hope of surviving all the strife

Hope for a world at peace, not planning for war to unfold
Our future worth can't be seen in a tank, for it is uncontrolled

The expectancy in living, isn't calculated in the coins of man
You find it, seeing the children playing, riding in your minivan

Expectations may change, in your life's journey, here on earth
lost at times within depression, as sad feelings seek to unearth

Is an expectation of this verse to change minds or to convert
I only task all readers to think, expand this thought and reassert

Conversations, will help all reason, with trauma that's found in life
Giving men hope and an expectation, to survive this world of strife
