A BUSY DAY IN NATURE
Spiders building webs…
Maggots metamorphosing…
Free flies flip flopping…
I saw a turkey circling, high above Manhattan
his bronze and copper feathers ripped in the sun,
and it looked like it was having an awful lot of fun.
He looked proud, in those clouds—majestic and delicious,
I could picture him sprawled out, on our Thanksgiving dishes.
Then I thought, chastisingly, “Wow, in a way, that’s kind of vicious.”
I opened the glass doors—we were sitting on the sky-high terrace.
I thought I’d better check—so I wouldn’t later be embarrassed.
I called Karen (Lisa’s Mom), “You already got a turkey to prepare us?”
She was hand making apple and cherry pies, lining crust in the pans
“You bet!” She called, “One's dressed-up—and a honey-baked ham!”
Closing the door, I yelled, through cupped hands, “Fly on Turkey—DO NOT LAND!”

Here's a Christmas playlist: daweb.us/xmas/Christmas_34.mp3
There once was a maid who could not cook
She didn't enjoy reading a book
Her mom tried to teach her chores
With those she only became bored
Gritty greens and soap took to the brook
They found her slumped against the bed that morn,
A bathrobe loosely pulled about her waist,
A folded pile of clothes that she had worn,
No sign that death had come with any haste.
No indications untoward or strange,
Except perhaps that she was on the floor.
You got the sense that this was prearranged;
It made you think there might be something more.
From underneath the bed skirt could be seen
A Bible, worn and loved, that much was clear.
You pulled it out to see what it might mean,
And now you understood what happened here.
“Your lamp, keep full; your wick, keep lit and trimmed.
Behold! The bridegroom comes; go meet with him.”

Fate
A controversial topic
To be discussed
A puzzle to be solved
A dilemma to be escaped
As
It comes like the wind
It can change directions
It comes like the cloud
It changes every minute
It comes like the rain
It covers a big area
It strikes one
And collapses the other
It causes heartbroken
It gives no sympathy
It follows no rules
One cannot appeal
All of a sudden
One has no preparation
And no choice
Especially sickness that's
Hard to cure
That will carry away loved ones
That will make many suffer
But helpless
Is fate man's sin over centuries
No matter whatsever it's
No matter whatsever is ahead
For the time being
One still has to struggle
Because one feels grateful
To be alive
To meet his loved ones
To love and to be loved
Clomp, clomp, clomp upon the rooftop
Vroom, whirr, whirr as leaves bounce
Tumbling down rustle and gently land
Fall officially announced
Snip, snip, snip the gardener prunes shrubs
Scratch, scratch, scratch, scrap, scrap, scrap
As he rakes pruned limbs on cement
Pushing shovel and rake
How that gardener can juggle tools
Prestidigitation
Oh, so cool! He displays each day
Great since this is his life's station
Fall leans into winter weather
Drip-drop cold rain freezes
Maybe even crunching ice beneath
Boots,as along ease his
Finis'....I know you are wondering what ease his..well, feet of course..
It is kind of nonsense work so forgive me.

fall preparations
for cold winter days and nights
chores shared made easier
stacking firewood in the shed
take turns at the cider press
hanging herbs to dry
help pick and can tomatoes
turn the garden plot
clean the chicken house, run...hide!
having more fun than working
A slide of sticky slimy glue
Newspaper on an orange balloon
Red sheets over all the lights
Corners full of plastic mites
Spiders hangs from a thread
A fancy lady with out a head
Pumpkins spilling out their guts
Liquid oozing from long fresh cuts
Green pocked zombies from Montana
Outer-space vampires with antenna
Cinnamon and sweets spicing the air
Witches wondering what to wear
And when it seems that all is lost
A brand new cloak made for cost
Hand-made by a dear good friend
Painted blue, with a hookah that bends
With sabers and glitter lighting the night
We shall cause quite a fright
Be not alarmed, things aren't what they seem
On this cool and shocking Halloween
