Clomp, clomp, clomp upon the rooftop Vroom, whirr, whirr as leaves bounce Tumbling down rustle and gently land Fall officially announced Snip, snip, snip the gardener prunes shrubs Scratch, scratch, scratch, scrap, scrap, scrap As he rakes pruned limbs on cement Pushing shovel and rake How that gardener can juggle tools Prestidigitation Oh, so cool! He displays each day Great since this is his life's station Fall leans into winter weather Drip-drop cold rain freezes Maybe even crunching ice beneath Boots,as along ease his Finis'....I know you are wondering what ease his..well, feet of course.. It is kind of nonsense work so forgive me. Written: October 24 and 25, 2021 Sponsor: Emile Pinet Contest: Onomatopoeia Poetry

Tom, Thanks for the encouragement. I am better but still the fatigue is horrible and I keep having an upset stomach. Sara

The gardener is working hard! No ice or snow here, no falling leaves yet either! I wish we had beautiful fall leaves that turn vibrant colors. I remember them when I was little, so much fun! How nice to have a gardener. I'm the gardener here, and not enough strength to deal with the wild beauty of it this year! I like your descriptive poem, it felt crisp and alive!

BJ, Well the oak leaves seem to be falling and falling without turning their beautiful reddish color just brown. There is a little color out there but not so much. I don't have a gardener but we pay our grandson to help with some of the work. I used to do a great deal of the work around here but I am not able to work like that anymore. Your comment was so encouraging. I appreciate you dropping by. Sara

Good one for the contest my friend. Love the pic here as he goes about clearing the gutters on the roof. A gardener doesn't garden because it's a job he has to do. He gardens because it's something he likes to do. When you love your job it's not really work. Good stuff. God Bless and good luck in the contest. JB

Judy, Part of the poem is about our grandson who came down to help with all the jobs we need to do around here. We have very large oaks around our home and the leaves end up on the roof stuck so they have to be blown off or swept off. The gardener was my husband trimming a couple of shrubs. Thanks for the visit to my page. Your comment is uplifting. Sara
