WAR AND PEACE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Last Letter Home
three syllables sharp
as shrapnel: “Mother, I'm cold.”
Silence, then snowfall.
Peace Treaty
rusted rifle leans
against the cherry tree—
first bloom since the cease-fire.
After the Guns
cicadas resume
their dry hymn—where tank treads rusted,
a poppy unfurls.
Dark times once, dark time twice,
And now for a third time,
Air full of planes,
Hearts full of grime,
Marching off to war,
Countries combine,
Countries fight,
No peace treaty to sign,
Death toll rises,
Bombs drop,
No way to escape,
Will it ever stop?
The Abraham Accords Signed!
But one would never know it.
How very juvenile, the USA is!
A major moment in history happened,
Fake News looked the other way.
Jews,Arabs and Islamists made a
peace treaty today
But since the President is not a "D,"
Fake News blew it away.
It riles me, to see the news hide
major good things.
Instead, digging up insignificance
keeping many on the ignorance
plantation.
They lie to us, as if we are kids.
Like I would let my Grandpa run
this country missing half his lid?
They have nothing they would not
lie about.
I don't understand why they pretend
they know what it's all about.
They insult and accost anyone who
is not a "D."
They abuse them verbally in interviews
on TV.
Instead of uniting the hurting nation.
They insist burning it all with glee,
in a 24/7 verbal conflagration.
And you can see it blowing up in our
big cities!
But the Fake News, doesn't care about
people or truth, just destroy the president
and the country at all costs..
What a shameful, vainglorious, self-
centered pity!
10am PST
Descending slowly a cherry red sun
hypnotic reflection, a night not begun.
Periwinkle waterfield in saffron graffiti
pearls and amber pink, in a peace treaty.
Over golden sands, Emperor goes to rest
sky fiddle colors, in sea of vermilion vest
Harmonized souls, their love so very tender
day really ends?... it's an endless splendor.
Over the setting sun, have the stars risen?
birds fleeing home,... to freedom or prison?
Dark absorbing light, in a full blown beauty
delphian soul fading in a sunset drunk sea.
Blue waves blushing hues , like never before,
A wish... if only the sun stayed a little more.
A landmass discovered in 1492,
A country established for me and you,
Now cover darkness with scenery,
Plastered “purple mountain majesties”.
O’ beautiful for spacious skies,
Gun violence conducts the children’s cry,
For amber waves of grain,
Nothing ceases the infinite pain.
America, America,
Hear our roaring plea,
America, I ask America,
For a great change to see.
Remember Lady Liberty,
Who stands to represent prosperity,
“I lift my lamp beside the golden door”,
Except today light shines no more.
What caused Eric and Dylan to hold the gun
What induced Nickolas Cruz to shoot then run
There should’ve been a stop since the days this begun
Now Adam Lanza pulled the trigger and then there was none.
America, America,
Lets initiate this peace treaty
America, now I ask America,
When are we really free?
Oh, wretched heart!
Lead me not to passions and pleasures I've forgot.
Set me free from those faces, times and places.
Don't speak to me in dreams of lovers lost.
Don't call to me.
I've paid the cost.
You led me on a merry chase.
You etched desire upon my face.
My eyes betrayed me with reflections of your constant imperfections.
Leave me in a state of grace until I reach that heavenly place
Where love and logic finally agree to a peace treaty within me.
It's time to circle the wagons
because were getting attacked,
we can see the arrows flying
from way up in the back,
instead of having a peace treaty,
he chose the warpath,
just because were Republican,
and he is Democrat,
frankly, I didn't see this coming,
from a fellow poet on the soup,
I thought everyone here was friendly,
and not wanting to put up their dukes,
you think that Republicans are all to blame,
in your Democrat mind,
but if you think your going to force
me to vote for Hillary,
you must be a little insane,
its Donald or Hillary,
not much of a pick,
maybe what we need is a cowboy,
someone with true grit,
too bad we didn't have a candidate,
who wasn't so lame,
what we really need for a President,
is someone more like John Wayne.
England’s king was disobeyed
by Puritans to abandon their faith.
On the Mayflower ship they sailed
through Atlantic ocean waves.
On November 1620
a hundred two Puritans came
to the shores of America.
Two months lasted their voyage.
They set sail soon again
and they landed on December
on the Plymouth Harbor beach,
where the nation had begun.
Harsh was the winter of that year,
only half of them survived,
helped by Cape Cod’s corn
stored by Indians in the sand.
With them, Indians made a peace treaty,
helped the Pilgrims to survive
in the wilderness, taught them how to hunt,
because Pilgrims were townspeople.
Being thankful to the Indians
Pilgrims have invited them
to the Harvest Feast,
which for us became Thanksgiving.
As we gather at the table
to eat turkey, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes…
We celebrate and talk about the past
as the Indians and the Pilgrims did.
when You told me You loved me
i signed the peace treaty,
then i sadly saw
that my name stood alone;
there were no other takers --
all who watched were fakers;
i knew in an instant
i couldn't go home.
it soon became clear
the things i held dear
were not as important
as they once seemed to be;
but still, God, You spoke --
many thought it a joke --
and, in my false pride,
i inclined to agree.
You directed the current,
i was drenched in the torrent
of what was intended
as soul-cleansing love;
but i thought i was drowning,
i resisted the crowning
from Your loving hands
and the help from above.
i'm not much for praying,
not good at displaying
the way You intend me
to live out my life;
i'm caught in the maelstrom,
the everyman hail storm
of facing each day
and the on-coming strife;
and all i can say
is i'm willing to pay
for blowing You off
and refusing to hear --
hard-headed and stubborn
often feeling forlorn,
immersing my psyche
in indulgent tears.
You wait patiently
for my heart to see
what my eyes have always
known all along;
help me, open my mind
to my ears, please be kind --
let me take in the sweet sound
of Your angels' song
Where do dreams go if they die?
You can't put em in your pocket
You can't plant em in the sky.
And if you hide em in your heart
Then with you they'll surely die.
Where do dreams go, can they die?
When life just happens
You've fallen again and now running blind.
An unwilling combatant a greying specter
An emotional conscientious objector.
A Phoenix rising
Icarus hoping to fly
Once you dreamed so big
You almost kissed the sky.
Now all that seems like a faded picture
Faith sabotaged by doubt
A deadly elixir.
Where do dreams go when they die?
Were they actually there
Or merely a lie?
Did you dream in color or only black and white?
Were you alive when you believed?
Did you just hang on to the seed?
Or by faith let it go
Out of your control
Yet willing to still believe
That faith will let it grow.
Where did your dream go?
Is it alive
Or like a mirage in a desert
Playing a trick on your eyes?
Will you surrender to the camouflage of life?
Much like darkness tries to hide the night.
A peace treaty with deception
Void of light.
Where do dreams go when they die?
We met on the battlefield with a closed heart and open mind
Like a solider charging into battle we moved in totally blind
We commanded our passions our fears and our doubt
Winning or losing the contest is what its all about
When the conflict is over when push comes to shove
Which side will prevail in this war of love
We had a plan for this endearing battle
But we were both strong and our nerves did not rattle
You moved your feelings like pawns in a game
I fell for them and I’d never be the same
When the conflict is over when push comes to shove
Which side will prevail in this war of love
Both sides were affected in the first skirmish
With some overpowering hugs and a damaging kiss
We were both heart brokenly wounded but we wanted more
We counted the casualties and kept a close score
When the conflict is over when push comes to shove
Which side will prevail in this war of love
The struggle is over and we know our true desire
We stopped the attack and called for a cease fire
We signed a peace treaty and struck a bargain
Now were allies of love and I call you my best friend
A misinterpreted woe
The thought of the unknown.
Discrimination
and Intimidation.
The prodigious fibs
Within politics.
No peace treaty
Will beseech thee.
For the beliefs of society must change.
Too long has insanity
Skewed the balance of harmony.
The breadth of this country must grasp what is out of range.
In time humanity evolves,
though the issue still revolves.
Perhaps forever to be unsolved.
The war that rages within
is what keeps me sound
The boom of my heart
like a grenade thrown in the enemies camp
The soaring of my soul
as a missile launched for our country's sake
The balance that ensues as I take a deep breath
reminds me of the peace treaty between this world and the next
I speak not of a war rived in anger
but of one that will bring us to acceptance
one that will cause us to admit
then when this war is over,
we shall conform
