Premium MemberOb-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

My song choice is "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" written by Paul McCartney and produced by the Beatles in 1968.
We are not allowed to post links to songs here at Soup, so the lyrics I will post in the notes above along with video of the song, but for the judge to hear the song, she must type it in at Youtube to hear it or risk seeing who wrote this. Sadly, I do not know how to let the judge hear the song in this box.

My Add-on:

Bridge 2: In two decades more, they have reached their Golden years.
At a great big table they are sitting down
with grand kids they call dears

Final verse: Now they have a little dog they take for walks.
Slowing down, they still keep doing things -
Staying in their cozy house or gardening.
Guitar in hand, at night to Desmond Molly sings

Beatles' original Chorus continues until end
with Beatle's short ending:
"And if you want some fun
Take ob-la-di-bla-da
Thank you"

Premium MemberBecause

Inspired by the Beatles song from Abbey Road, written by John Lennon, and featuring three-part vocal harmony with Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

Aah
Because the sun is bright
it makes me shine
because the sun is bright

Aah
Because a tree is tall
it makes me grow
Because a tree is tall

Aah
I say thanks, I say wow
I am here, I am now

Because a bird is free
it makes me fly
because a bird is free
Aah

Conjuring the Lives of Paul McCartney and The Beatles

I’m bringing out the songs
lingering inside
as patrons in the bar
gaze at me—
I’ve been waiting for this night
for the last two days.
I am looking for the stars
while singing from my heart.
I sing I’ve Just Seen a Face
something I first heard
in sixth grade when walking
into the classroom.
Through the years it stirs
sweet memories of women I met.
I sing I Will, a ballad
for women I’ll always love.
People at the bar
wave cellphones lit like lighters
at a concert.
When I sing Band on the Run
by Paul McCartney and Wings
a sense of wanderlust fills my soul
to go back to my college town
as if I could live my life again.
I’ve been an aide to child welfare workers,
a laborer, a temp, and poet, too.
But now to the glow of neon lights
I become someone other than
my everyday self
as music spells the night.

Premium Member- Yesterday -

~ if life were a happy song - I'd sing it yesterday ~
                                                                      quote by poet

"All my troubles seemed so far away"
Vinyl records, a review from yesterday

The best songs of all time that will live forever
Music had a completely different content yesterday

A modern way of writing cultural history
no tango for two - that was definitely yesterday

We got the rock culture and it was earthshaking
        Record sales skyrocketed yesterday

A crank gramophone on a living room table is fun enough
Defined to be a clever invention from the era of yesterday

As parts of the guidance to this cosmos
Life is a highway - a souvenir of yesterday

- “Yesterday” is the most covered song in history,
with over 2,000 versions having been recorded
- A haunting song of lost love from the early Beatles,
it was sung by a young Paul McCartney -

Almost Yesterday

On the occassion of the Cheese & Grain, Frome, announcing a surprise gig by Paul McCartney, via social media

Yesterday,
I could have bought a ticket,
What d'ya say
If Id seen the advert yesterday
Oh I believe in the Cheese and Grain

Suddenly
Facebook's half as good as I need it to be
All these posts arrive too late for me
Oh facebook ads, don't come suddenly

Why do ads not come
For me to see, on my display
I checked again,
But they werent there, oh huge dismay

Yesterday,
facebook was a great place to come and play
Now I need a place that does portray
These gigs in Frome, without delay

Why do ads not come
For me to see, on my display
I checked again,
But there werent there, oh huge dismay

Yesterday,
Facebook was a great place to come and play
Now I need a place that does portray
These gigs in Frome, without delay

booo hoo hoo, Paul has now gone away....

Premium MemberThe Light Shined On, Yet Dim the Night

When they first played 'Let It Be'
I heard whispered words of wisdom
An answer came from Paul McCartney
Puro alto, sprouting wings of ecstasy

The light shined on, yet dim the night
Mother Mary came not in daylight
Quenched the notes from John's guitar

Thursday Evening In Spring

soft light given to shadows
colored lights dance on a wall
gentle breezes ease the day
whispers of joy
a song to sing at karaoke
people sing and dance
old friends meet again
I stand at the microphone
become The Beatles
for a moment
or Paul McCartney
others become other stars
a street light flickers to life
skies tinted a shade of deep blue
as cars pass and disappear
we become our dreams

(From Skiffle to Fame)

Quarrymen were a group
Quite good oldies do say
Quirky to the youth now
Quaint compared to these days.
Quoth Sir Paul McCartney
Quips John Lennon as well
Question’s metamorphosis.

“Shine until tomorrow. Let it be.” John Lennon and Paul McCartney

Kindness is what we need today.
Patience, love, and forgiveness too.
If people do not think your way,
try hard to see their point of view.

Be gentle as a summer breeze.
Be not a tempest bellowing.
Be the sea when after unease,
its tranquilness shines – mellowing.

Be not a tree stubborn to grow,
withholding the fruit it could bear.
Willow-like bend; let your hate go,
and behold your heaven’s first stair.

Take that first stair to heaven. See
more stairs that appear one by one.
To quote two’s wise words: “Let it be.”
Shine your light, and let peace be won.

Who's Left

Lewis Carroll, Harpo Marx,
Albert Einstein, Eminem,
Paul McCartney, Judy Garland –
These are just a few of them.

Add DaVinci and Obama,
Oprah, Jimi and Bill Gates,
Charlie Chaplin, Morgan Freeman –
All have something that relates.

R.B. Ginsburg, Mozart and
Ted Williams and, of course, Babe Ruth,
Helen Keller, Ringo Starr,
Matt Groening and Bart Simpson. (truth!)

Jerry Seinfeld, Larry Bird,
Ludwig B, Spike Lee, Mark Twain
Are among the ten percent
Who use the right side of the brain.

Since today’s Lefthanders Day
Let’s honor all of those who are
As I will with my grandson Henry,
Who’s my lefty fave by far!

Premium MemberEverybody But Me

Elvis he's a hero, he's a super star,
and I hear that Paul McCartney drives a Rolls Royce car.
Dylan sings for millions, and I just sing for free.
Everybody's making it big but me.
Neil Diamond sings for diamonds, and here's old rhinestone me.
Why is everybody making it big but me?
I hear that Alice Cooper has some foxy babes,
in every state he performs always back stage.
John Lennon had two fine ladies, Doctor John has three,
but I'm still seeing the same street walkers that I use to see.
Everybody's making it big but me.
I got charisma and personality.
How come everybody's making it big but me?
I paint my face with glitter just like Bowie does,
and I wear the same mascara that Mick Jagger does.
I even put some lipstick on,
but that just hurt my dad and mom.
Everybody's making it big but me.
They have groupies for their bands,
but all I have are my own two hands.
Why is everybody making it big but me?

Premium MemberA Song Not By Paul Mccartney

NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE IN A COLD HOME
from the album "Heaters for Sale"
by Not Paul McCarney

No one wants to live in a cold home, cold home
Uncle Albert says you should go home, go home
Turn the heat up or sit by the fire
Toasty as upon a funeral pyre
Oo-hoo, because
No one wants to live in a cold home, cold home
No one takes the longest road home, road home
Put your feet up next to the blaze
Toes become candles before your gaze
Ooo-hooo!

My New Neighbor

Paul McCartney bought a home
Just blocks away from mine.
Of course, he faces Central Park
With views, I’m sure, divine.

My whole apartment likely
In his living room would fit.
I’ll let you know as soon as I
Have been inside of it.

For now that we’ll be neighbors,
I’m convinced – don’t you agree?
That I’ll receive an invitation
For a spot of tea.

I’ll tell him of the fan mail
That I sent him long ago.
I never got his answer
But the mail is so darn slow!

We’ll catch up on how life has been –
I want to know it all;
I’m sure we’ll have a lovely time
When I hear from Sir Paul.
