I meet you in the hour of the morning’s early breath
Know me by my tousled hair and bleary eyes.
I stand before you naked in my souls one thousandth death
Each day, although I try, with new disguise.
That were my own, within your captured eyes,
You see me.
In the truth of every beauty we cannot blame the flower.
Love remains within each heart, forever
Amber coated, Eons in the making,
Viscous Love, that will remain, Un-severed.
Each thought, each glimmer; each shine upon a shimmer;
Within the pull of every morning's dew,
I see you.
A PRESENT FOR SANTA
As Santa left gifts by the tree,
He smiled and said, “What’s this I see?
For the one thousandth time,
Someone’s left me a rhyme;
A Limerick all about me”

I posted my one thousandth poem,
And this is one thousand and one.
Although I’ve not quite hit my limit,
At least for today, I am done!
I think I might have a few keepers
But trashy ones? There’s a lot more.
Perhaps I should focus on content
And stop keeping track of the score.
I think that’s a lot of dalmatians
Or maybe it's dammits instead
My sleep deprivation runs rampant
But bedtime brings loathing and dread.
You’re stuck with me, ‘cuz I’m a lifer.
The Lord only knows just how long.
It’s possible I’m out tomorrow,
Or a hundred and still going strong.
Right now, I just know I am tired;
My eyelids are starting to droop.
I bid a good night or good morning
To the friends I have met at the soup!
PS Resident Revenant ...
"I shall embrace it," he sighed, transmuting -
Blood, no stain, he thought,
Not even frost on the pane ...
Missed ... he'd not ever be.
** This is the one-thousandth (1,000) poem I have written and posted since joining Poetry Soup a couple of years ago, (12.6.16), at which time I had no intention of making poetry a "serious" thing, lol ... you just never know, do you? It was meant as a farewell piece, but a friend changed my mind ...
Despite the motivations behind that, I want to thank you all for the incredible kindness and encouragement you have shown me over these many months, as I was but an ignorant newbie when I showed up on this doorstep, having written TWO poems in my entire life previous to joining ...
I can't express sufficiently how much poetry now means to me - what a huge part of my questionable existence it has become - but it was the sweet and thoughtful comments from all of you that made it so, proving again that a website, much as anything, is only as good as its people.
Sincerest blessings and deepest appreciation to you all ... I can never repay the debt. ** <3
Place Beyond The Horizon, Dwelling In Sunset's Red
Place beyond the horizon, dwelling in sunset's red
all is right - no compromising, silk sheets on every bed
Cool streams lead to good, world exists with no stains
love wins just as it should, nights hold no dark pains
Beyond the horizon, hell's great fury can never invade
new morn's sweet rising, bright life hope has made
Days spent in wonder, dancing to promises of more
ships sailing seas of splendor, from shore to shore
Paradise in the seeing, Nature's well hidden palace
glory in the being, free of man's hatred and malice
Earth's greatest pleasure, love-filled beyond measure
time spent in leisure, where true love is the treasure
Beyond red skyline's glow, loom castles of eternity
wrapped in sincere love's, great hope and serenity

Note- Written long ago-centuries it now seems..
Just found out - This is my one thousandth poem posted here.
My how time flies and blessings come with friends found here ,
this site and its many very talented poets..
A stranger, we were, the first time we met
Like freshly transformed butterflies, we had no regret
One thousandth-worth of questions; we wanted to know
While we mingled with that one promise; we couldn’t let go
A stranger, we were, meeting for a second time
And by slowly devouring our fears, I found you in I’m
Below us, lies the moon, playing games like a thief
And then you entangled me with your religious belief
A stranger, we were, until we became friends
When we started sharing our thoughts under a special lens
We let, not one night passes by without saying a word
Refreshing each memory along with the early birds
We’re now friend for life and we’re strangers no more
With only the depth of the heavens, to answer for
We’ve come a long way and have uncovered a great deal
We’ve been strangers in dreams; it’s now time to make it real

In my poetic life, this is a milestone
And my personal one that I own
Accomplished by none other than me
Who much better poet do want to be.
With each poem I write are better each day
Poems are improving have heard some say
Me a master poet would you really believe
And all of that attention start to receive.
From first day they discovered I was born
My mother started calling me Jimmy Horn
And started to think my chances were slim
If she would ever start calling me Jim.
Soon to gorgeous wife married became
And now go by Jim which is the same
Name I need for a poet who will promise
My name is James Horn and middle one Thomas.
Enjoyment of writing poems is very thorough
From each town in America to English borough
Even when my poems may sound sad and down
I am motivated by Poet Cooper who is world renown.
James Thomas Horn, Retired Poet
Now Past One Thousandth Poem.
Some days I feel I'm nearly crazy
Kids and chores so many, I become hazy
Motivation slides, no---then I'm just lazy.
While I gather my one thousandth drifting thought
I find I'm just a dreamer and bit of a cad who ought
Ought to be a poet of wisdom by many sought
But isn't it a tiresome job being a poet of nought.
No one for me hangs a big welcome banner
I'm aways the dependable one, especially on holidays
Hard working and expecting little praise
For my job well done "The Great Meal Planner."
So if you like to be a poet, making copies on your scanner
Juggling jobs, and tasks so many in a rediclous motherly manor
To feed all the pets, of which occasionally I appear as being a lion tamer
Well, you too may find someday nothing makes since, it all just makes one insaner.
