A return to Normalcy
As night comes, all are at ease 
We return to slumber 
In the electric comfort 
Of artificiality that is our lives 
We revel in the false sense of our own 
Modern conveniences
We forget the thin veil between 
Our electric life, truth of nature’s brutality
Of our existence, we believe we are
Immune to the

Normalcy

A way home. 
Doors and forests. 
Resting on a bench. 
Lurking.
We are normal. 

I like to walk across mysterious bridges. 
I could go home anytime. 
Portals can take you anywhere. 
I want to go. 

We are normal. 
Normalcy. 
Typical. 

Portals. 
And time. 
And shimmering. 
On the way home, home, home…

We are normal!
We like to do

So Many Seduced by Rhythmic Pendulum of Trauma and Absurd Normalcy

Intelligent musical talent begins with this, to relearn the timing within our soul,
But other tactical psychological methods are busy swaying to and fro,
To an obvious yet nefarious covert Rhythmic tyranny of Mind Control,
Damaging trauma appears, disappears and reappears so often - irregardless whether anyone of us - really and actually know,
Although - know; you ought

Detached Yet Whole

I wake to the scrape of the kettle on the stove,  
the faint hiss of water finding its boil.  
The day begins not with purpose,  
but with the weightless drift of a leaf  
settling where it may.  

The streets are a quiet shuffle of feet,  
faces turning toward their

Restorative Normalcy

During a period of despair and emptiness, 
I used to peer into deep tunnels of pettiness. 
Dark and dull hobgoblins gnawed at my heart,
I've developed a strong sense of impart. 

Now, each one grasps what we are withholding,
The term "long and narrow" is thrown around. 
I am on a road, and yeah, it's long and winding, 
However, this synopsis

Some Semblance of Normalcy

…and now that I am retired
I am getting more tired 
doing nothing—
It’s more strenuous,
One never knows when it begins
and when it ends.

Wife, still works,
Kids, all grown up and gone.
Now, the days are purposeless
Nights, sleepless.

Too much is going on 
in this beautiful world
with some stupid people running amuck
So,
 I sit by the TV and worry.

At a

Bipolar Normalcy

crazy sanity
excited placidness
terrible wonderfulness
enthusiastically down

mountainous nothingness
unexpected anticipations
insanely normal
conscientiously uncaring

empathetic bullying
horrible kindnesses
guilty innocence
joyful depression

bipolar normalcy
conflicted understandings
crawling highs
maniacal lows

Starve

I know what society wants me to do. 
And I know how to do it. 
I just don't want to do it. 
The normalcy that's been normal for so long starved my soul. 
And I am not starving it anymore.

Unbeknownst To Central Normalcy

i watch this kid write a simple poem today
just two days ago he was in a coma of a mysterious sort
here he is now laughing like nothing ever happened
his little heart is on green light now
concern has a wire hanger in the closet

i watch this little kid fly a kite on a windy, but moderately

A Long Road To Normalcy

Coronavirus takes a stab at cancel culture.
       So much for "back to normalcy" 2022; Omicron...
             has put a lump of coal in our Christmas stockings.

Prized Normalcy

Winter Solstice
Placed earth 
On its path toward new spring
Pray longer, sunny days lead to
Brighter hopes
Of rebirthing-
Prized normalcy.

Hugging family
Meeting friends
Breathing pure air without a mask
Sitting at church to worship, pray
Full classrooms
Kids mingling-
Prized normalcy.

No anxieties
Becoming ill
Loving fine meals at a restaurant
Happily going to our jobs on-site
Attend theaters
Sports events-
Prized normalcy.

High-top boots

And the maladies 
Of societal norms

Storms

There will be visions

A Yearn For Normalcy

                    yearn for
                    normalcy
             

Shut Up

What allure is there in talking about people?
What allure is there analyzing situation your not in?
Who are you to decide what is right or wrong for someone else?
Why is it normal to do this?
Are you bored? Do something, shut up and do something.
Or do nothing, just shut up. 

At least that's the battle I go

For Normalcy

On my deck I’m sitting to write this pleasant day.
Nary a cloud I see to blot the clear blue sky.
Yellow sun is smiling; the grey has gone away.
Wind whooshes through the trees. Some bicyclists I spy.
Distant traffic , barking dogs, and some kids at play:
These sounds spell normalcy! Wind heaves another sigh.
